 Not the Weekend!!!

If you're anything like, weekends are always a struggle diet-wise. In order to keep myself on track this weekend, I'm going to be journalling my food etc. here for the next three days. Join me if you so desire!

yesitsmeagain 10-06-2005 10:49 PM

I'm in.

Only it's 4 days for me because of Canadian Thanksgiving!

byebigbutt 10-06-2005 11:15 PM

Count me in too. We've got a long weekend so I'm a little scared. I haven't had the best week so I really need to get on track this weekend. I weigh in tomorrow and I'm pretty sure I've lost nothing. I've probably gained since I've been doing alot of strength exercises this week.

amandaholly 10-06-2005 11:15 PM

I'm in, but I think I'll just keep doing it on my journal thread :)

2frustrated 10-07-2005 03:42 AM

Oh I feel your pain over the weekend! I'm going to plan everything in fitday today because I've D/C our internet at home!

WastedThermos 10-07-2005 07:50 AM

My weekend food frustration... the state fair (ie, fried.. everything you could ever imagine) and tailgating for saturdays football game I guess this is more alcohol frustration than anything.

I'm so bad at journaling food over the weekend. My goal is to not eat fair food (do I need fried twinkies? probably not), to get in at least 2 good work outs, stay active and not drink too much.

2frustrated 10-07-2005 08:16 AM

FRIED TWINKIES  and I thought battered Mars Bars were bad....

Everybody :goodvibes: for the weekend. I'm planning ahead - I'm going out shopping tonight to buy things for my packed lunch tomorrow! I'm going to stuff everything into fitday to see what it'll pan out like. Then we're having dinner out tomorrow night. I might pick the salad :faint:

We can do it! We just have to want to do it bad enough!

jillybean720 10-07-2005 09:01 AM

My plan for the weekend food-wise is to eat what is in my apartment as much as possible! I don't have much food left, but I want to get rid of what I do have so I don't have to move it to the new apartment. I know I have turkey burgrs in the freezer, so those will be dinner tonight, and probably tomato soup (I still have 1 can in the cabinet, I think) for lunch tomorrow. Other than that, I'll have to be very creative (though I'm sure we'll end up just going out a few times, too). I have to pack up my whole place this weekend, so I'm sure that will be plenty of sweaty exercise in itself!

jennie934 10-07-2005 09:27 AM

ahh weekends are the worst for me and I just got my period! yuck! so my plan, is to make sure I only eat from my core foods list. not eat out!!!! that is where and when I mess up everything. Not snack on my son's leftovers. that is a problem I can't seem to get away from. I've been doing better since starting core since he doesn't eat core food most of the time.
Pl;us I want to make sure I work out tonight and tomorrow morning.

JustForUs 10-07-2005 11:18 AM

hmmmm... not drink too much on this girls night out on sat... and get some kind of work out in.... ... .. I need to buy a new journal.

jenicra 10-07-2005 11:40 AM

Friday

Breakfast:
0.5 c. oatmeal
1 small peach
0.5 c. 1% cottage cheese

Morning snack:
40 grams of baby carrots

Lunch:
1 large homemade whole wheat bun
1 tbsp. all-natural peanut butter
1 tbsp. raspberry preserves

Dinner:
1 cup green beans
2 slices cheese pizza

Evening "snacks":
1 Ghiraradelli caramel square
2.5 c. low fat ice cream
4.5 c. reese's cereal
2/3 c. low fat milk
3 slices of cheese pizza

Exercise: 50 min. elliptical and 30 min. bike (+ tons of stairs)

Water: 2 nalgenes+

No afternoon snack and a lunch with very little protein left me ravenous by about 5 pm, and we don't have much at home to cook with (especially quick), so DH went and got a medium cheese pizza. Not the best of options, BUT I ate 2 servings of veggies before he got there and gulped 8 oz. of water so that I would be more controlled, and I was! Two pieces of cheese pizza, about 450 calories. Not bad at all really, and since my fat intake has been pretty low today, the fat grams didn't throw me off either. So now that I'm no longer hungry and I'm feeling good about choices, I'm going to do some grocery shopping! I'm sure I'll be back later with an evening snack...
Grrr... okay, so the my evening snack turned turned into an eating fest, I won't go into it in too much detail 'cuz I'm against virtual food porn as much as the next guy! :) But basically, at the grocery store, I decided to treat myself to one of those little ghirardelli chocolate square things (about 180 cals.) since I was right at 1200 cals. for the day thus far. Then I saw the Reeses cereal, and I walked by, then I walked back!!! Nooooo... that was my downfall, because by that point I was rationalizing that I could use a "high" day and that it would be good for my metabolism, blah, blah, blah... not all entirely untrue, but I should know that I can't treat myself like this without getting out of control... which I did. The chocolate square was consumed, then some cereal with milk, then some low-fat ice cream, then the rest of the leftover pizza... luckily, today is a new day and I've got a gameplan. I've added up the last 5 day's worth of calories and subtracted it from 10,500 (7 days at 1500 cals.) and found out that in order for me to stay at or below that amount, I only have 1538 calories left. Soooo - if I keep my cals. low (below 1300) and burn an extra 500 cals. both today and tomorrow, I'll pretty much even out.

JustForUs 10-07-2005 12:17 PM

FRIDAY
1 medium iced latte with whipped cream....  BUT!! wait please dont yell at me... That is my FIRST one in 3 months, it just was SCREAMING "buy me buy me, drink me, i am soooooooooooooooo yummy  " oohhh... the rest of the weekend will be better.. I PROMISE! :^:

miss michelle 10-07-2005 03:05 PM

omg i am so in on this thread, the weekends are the absolute worst for me. BUT today i weighed in and reached my mini goal that i have had since VALENTINE'S DAY. (i know, talk about a lack of motivation over the past several months) i REALLY want to be at that weight, or at least my goal for the week, on monday morning. unfortunately i already had a bagel this morning (so many cals) but i also went running so i got some excercise in. i just need to be careful to eat smartly tonight and tomorrow at the bf's company picnic (shouldnt be too hard). i am going to workout tomorrow morning and try not to eat too much at the beach...shouldnt be too hard since i will be with all my friends who are super skinny, weight loss godesses:)

byebigbutt 10-08-2005 11:52 AM

Friday

B: Reduced Fat Bisquick Pancakes - this was a control test. I did good :D I only had 2 of them.
L: Bran flakes w/ sliced almonds (I was running late for work and needed something quick) This was an early lunch.
S: Lime chips - Bad me, but I was dying for something salty.
D: Max & Ermas - shared Black Bean Rollups w/ DH and had chicken salad for entree - had a rum and coke (I needed it)
D: Carmel Frappucino (Venti - I split w/ DH) Too many carbs left me w/ a hankering for a frap, I couldn't resist

This was a horrible day calorie wise. I was over 2000. I'm going for a long walk today and I'm staying on track today. I didn't weigh in on Friday, I'm going to do it on Monday. I'm too scared to do it now
.

jillybean720 10-08-2005 03:00 PM

Stayed around 2000-2100 calories for Friday, so not too bad (considering a normal Friday for me is McDonald's breakfast, pizza lunch, and dinner out with Jeff--instead, I did yogurt and oatmeal for breakfast, pizza for lunch, and turkey burgers on whole wheat buns with lowfat cheese and ff mayo for dinner :)).

As for today, I made lowfat Bisquick pancakes for breakfast, too! I had 4 pancakes and 3 turkey sausage links and reduced-calorie syrup--all together, about 585 calories. We don't normally eat lunch, just breakfast and dinner, so that's an okay amount for half my day's food. I now have the crock pot simmering reduced-fat turkey keilbasa with swedish sauce (no-sugar-added grape jelly and chili sauce) for dinner, and I already know that there's about 2300 calories in the whole pot, so even if I eat half of it, I'll still be below 2000 calories for the day, plus I'm packing my whole apartment up, which is plenty of exercise! I hope I do well tomorrow, too...

EDITED TO ADD: ended up going to Potbelly for smoothies, too. I got an Oreo smoothie, but they're not very big, so I would think I still managed to at least stay below 2200 calories for the day (I didn't end up eating all of the keilbasa I thought I might, so I had fewer calories there). Overall, still better than usual!

jenicra 10-08-2005 03:22 PM

Saturday:
Breakfast:
Slept through it!

Lunch:
1 large tortilla (I think you know what kind) ;)
0.5 cup vegetarian refried beans
2 black olives
1 oz. lowfat mozzarella cheese

Late afternoon snacks:
1 small banana
10 small fruit leather pouches

"Dinner":
4 chocolate peanut butter rice cakes
1 cup low fat ice cream

Evening snack:
1 small homemade cinnamon roll

Exercise: 50 min. elliptical/65 min. bike/35 min. elliptical with no arms

Water: 2 nalgenes

Okay, so maybe I went overboard on the fruit leather, but seriously, those have NEVER tasted so good before! They're all-fruit ones with no added sugar and each one counts for a half serving of fruit, so I guess it wasn't the worst choice in the world! I wasn't quite able to stick to the below 1300 cals. plan today - the DH and I were baking for a bake sale he has on Monday and it was killing me. I couldn't do it - but I was able to have just one cinnamon roll and stay under 1500 cals. - so all in all, a victory. Don't you love my healthy dinner - my mother would kill me if she saw that!

trnsfrmnreplace 10-08-2005 05:28 PM

weekend hasn't been my friend. I know i won't make it to the gym, but tonight i am going out dancing. =sighs=

lizzbabe 10-09-2005 08:41 AM

I was doing so well....and then crashed. Had a BBQ/homebrewing party to go to last night and started off the night drinking water and diet rockstar, eating veggies and baked beans instead of the 3 B's (beer, bratwurst and burgers). Then had some chips tempting me from the other room and caught a glimpse of what looked like peanut m&m's...which I don't like so it was ok and then i thought "wait maybe they are peanut BUTTER m&m's (which i love)" so I had to try them and I was a goner from then on out. They were gone by the end of the night and I think I had a 1/4 bottle of vodka in my stomach by then too. Ugh.

I have a 5-k race coming up in 2 weeks so I am swearing off alcohol until then to prepare. If I can fit into a sexy Halloween costume by then *maybe* I can drink the following weekend.

jenicra 10-09-2005 12:52 PM

1 cup homemade minestrone soup

I blew this weekend so bad. What's the problem with me lately? The only reason I lost this week was because I got a new (accurate) scale. This week I will do well and I will lose 2-3 pounds or ELSE!!!

byebigbutt 10-09-2005 04:28 PM

Saturday

B: Whole wheat English muffin w/ Nutella
S: none
L: Minestrone soup w/ half a roll
S: half banana
D: Chicken w/ steamed veggies
D: Brownie

Calorie wise I was well under my target, so it was a good day and made up for Friday. I also walk/jogged w/ DH in the am so I felt good.

Sunday (so far)

B: Mini whole wheat bagel w/ lowfat cc, 1 cup wheat bran flakes w/ soymilk
S: 1 cup Munchies (pretzel, cereal mix)
L: Taco pie - ground turkey w/ taco seasoning, cheddar cheese w/ reduced fat bisquick, black olives and ff sour cream
S: Rice cake w/ Nutella
D: Made homemade foccacia - a flop, baked on wax paper and stuck to it.
Ended up eating asparagus and popcorn.

amandaholly 10-09-2005 04:44 PM

Stephanie...I'm right there with you...2-3 lbs this week, or else!!! Hey, I just noticed we're at the same weight! :)

jenicra 10-09-2005 05:27 PM

My only question for you "or else" ladies is - or else what? :) You cut off an arm? Actually, that's not a bad idea, the damn things must a weigh a good 15 pounds each...

trnsfrmnreplace 10-09-2005 05:47 PM

mmmm.... nutella... WHY did you have to bring that up byebigbutt! I could eat the entire jar in two sittings!

jillybean720 10-09-2005 05:51 PM

Sunday--HA! I had leftover pancakes and turkey sausage from yesterday morning for breakfast, which is just fine, but then we ordered CHINESE for dinner! Mmmm...ornage chicken, pork lo mein, and an egg roll...food porn, anybody? :p

I with you there, trnsfrmnreplace. I'm ready to go pull a jar of the stuff out of the cabinet. I wish there wasn't any in the house.

LockItUp 10-09-2005 06:23 PM

LMAO Jenicra!!!

Sorry I'm a chocolate fiend, that's the only kind I allow myself since I can pair it with something good. My favorite is to take a little Nutella and some peanut butter and dip apple slices in both. Yummmmmmy!

2frustrated 10-10-2005 04:03 AM

Oh the food porn laydees!

I'm reporting in to say - I managed to have a clean weekend! I factored in my "free meal" on Saturday evening and I was only up to about 2200 cals even with my fish and chips! Sunday was clean too! Then when we were in bed I caught the binge bug, I wanted to eat and eat and eat but I stayed in bed, then got out and cleaned my teeth!

So how did I do it? I took a picnic out on Saturday when we were walking round town. a fruit and nut bar and some chicken and bacon for an organic roll we went to buy. We went to a food market and bought loads of healthy Organic food. I swear apples have never tasted so good! Then we were out for dinner, so I decided to keep to diet coke to drink, have whatever I wanted for my main meal and a dessert if I wanted one! I had fish and chips, the chips were gorgeous, but I left 1/3 of them. I also stole some feta cheese from DF's plate. We were going to go to a different pub for dessert but decided to go to the supermarket to buy some stuff for pudding. I got chocolate chip cake bars, chocolate cookies, ice cream and chocolate buttons. I came home and made a HUGE sundae, then I only ate the ice cream, the rest tasted horrible :barf: I am finally turning into a foodie! I'm starting to hate processed food... I'm getting worried about me!

Then on Sunday DF was out doing a police shift so I kept myself busy with 3 loads of washing, supermarket shopping, ironing, kill bill, a nice bath etc... And just ate when I was hungry. Then one of my fillings fell out... So that put paid to the chocolate I was about to scoff!

:goodvibes:

2frustrated 10-14-2005 05:40 AM

BUMP!

How is everyone going to manage this weekend?

I'm not sure of our plans for tomorrow but DF wants to go to Canterbury, which should be really nice. However he finishes his shift at 2am so I reckon he'll be a big tired monster tomorrow! :D

So I think I'm going to do what I did last weekend, a small luxury shop this afternoon for foodie treats like some luvverly bread and whatever else is nice. So I'll pack myself a lunch/snacks for wherever we go out tomorrow and possibly a meal out.

Then on Sunday we're going to watch a car race and I have no idea what kinds of food will be there but I'm guessing burger vans! So again I might just pack myself a sandwhich and allow myself some chips or something :dunno: Anyways I ain't going to be stuffing my face like usual - I don't want to disrupt my run of 4 point days in the points challenge ;)

Anyone else got any fail-proof weekend strategies?

LockItUp 10-14-2005 09:40 AM

I always get nervous Friday's because I always want to go out to dinner. I am gonna have to think of a way to distract myself!!!

jillybean720 10-14-2005 09:45 AM

This weekend will either be wonderful or horrible (diet-wise)--there is no happy medium. I'm moving, so my life is in boxes, and I have no food available inmy home. This means eating out for EVERY meal for the next 2-3 days. Now, we may only end up having time to eat twice a day (between loading and unloading the truck and unpacking and moving things around...), so if I make good choices, I should be doing great, especially since I'll have so much added exercise from the move. However, if we und up just ordering pizza and Chinese and such, it'll be a disaster. We'll see...:dizzy:

WinterWonder 10-14-2005 10:08 AM

I'm supposed to go out to Cheesecake Factory for a birthday. This weekend, the diet is shot to ****.

paperclippy 10-14-2005 10:14 AM

I've been having a lot of stress at work/school lately, so chances are I will pig out this weekend. :( The weather is still awful, we haven't seen the sun in over a week! It is really depressing, which makes me want to EAT EAT EAT. Maybe I can haul my butt to the gym instead of eating. It's supposed to be nice on Sunday, so BF and I are thinking of going for a hike or something.

byebigbutt 10-14-2005 10:28 AM

Our weather is supposed to be great this weekend, so we're going to a farm for pumpkins, haunted house, hayride and maybe just maybe a caramel apple. I have to. I love the fall! :D

Then we'll be cleaning out our garage to make room for deck furniture for the winter. Yeah, feel my excitement about that one.

jillybean720 10-17-2005 07:26 AM

Well, I ended up eating too many calories this weekend, but with moving, I'm sure I burned more than usual, too, so hopefully it just about evened out. I will find out once I dig my scale out of one of the million boxes in my new apartment :p On a more positive note, I have changed my work hours to 7am-3pm (used to be 6am-2pm) so thatI can go to the gym in the morning before work, which I did today--30 minutes on the elliptical :)

miss michelle 10-17-2005 06:04 PM

:( i had a horrible weekend eating-wise. i am truly, like the little face, blue. i weighed in this morning (i weigh in on mondays) and i was up FOUR pounds from last week. i think i might weigh in tomorrow b/c i know there is no way i could have gained all that weight in two days, and i must be retaining some water weight. regardless, i still shouldnt have eaten so much. i have been putting my body on detox to try to recover from the stress of eating too much! haha i never would have said that before i started dieting!!
