Christy - *gets on hands and knees* I am begging you.. PLEASE take me with you! (Bf is station in VA Beach.. I beg anyone to take me that I can!)

Haha I had an interesting time.. got hit on at public square while I was waiting for transportation to school.. not only was that insanely good for my self esteem, but I realized this was the same guy who made me walk home in a dangerous part of town at midnight, so I got to confront him on it! (If anyone is, for some odd reason, interested in the full story thing, you can go Read My LiveJournal.

PLUS I think my scale went down a bit this morning! I believe it said 197.. I decided I am going to start logging my weight on FitDay, because then I can do a weekly average automaticly. Score!

The bad news things are that I have no clean clothes and it is costing a **** of a lot of money for them to just fix the belt in my dryer.. which won't happen until monday? tuesday? Noone is sure. So suppose I will wash some clothes and let the air dry.. because I literaly have NOTHING clean. PLUS they won't deliver mail to my house until we get our front step fixed.. why they are saying this now, when it has been broken for a year at LEAST, I do not know. *sigh* Oh well... At least my mom got a typing job.. a 200 page manuscript that will pay us somewhere around $500.. of which I get $100 for the typing, and the rest goes for bills and things.. and that money is much needed on my overdue cell phone! And I may do a sleep study with my friend, we will have to see.. 16 days in a controled environment where they pay for everything = $1600.. I NEED that money! Hooray! We will have to see though...

Well that's all for my update.. happy Friday everyone!

paperclippy 09-09-2005 05:36 AM

Fae - Wow, do you have to sleep in their lab? I could never do that!

Christy - Don't worry, you'll be biking 12 miles again in no time!!

Amanda - I'd wait until you are better. If you try to exercise while you are having trouble breathing you could do some more serious damage I bet.

Lizzie - Thanks! LOL about the sprained wrist . . . I thought I had slept on it at a weird angle or something. Come to think of it though I think it is from carrying a bag full of textbooks the other day. As long as it gets better soon, I don't care what caused it!

JustForUs - All I know about zoloft is that it is an anti-depressant. I think it is a pretty popular one.

Bida - Shanghai was fun, I got some neat souvenirs (traiditonal-style paintings)! I hate how quickly disease spreads on college campuses, so many people packed close together!

Meredith - In January this year, I could only jog 1/8 mile. I also have a DD chest (technically a little bigger I think), and the best advice I can give you is to invest in an excellent sports bra. They do exist! And take it slow, I was even much slower than the couch to 5k program speed.

Liz - Thanks! I'm hoping I'm well enough for it too, I have really been looking forward to this. I'm feeling better right now (except for the fact that I'm awake and posting here at 5am when I should be asleep) so hopefully it will be okay. I think my time will be slower than usual though because I haven't run since almost two weeks ago.

Sugarbutt - I highly recommend the book "Stitch 'n *****" to learn to knit!

Ferret - Good luck on your crochet projects! I have had to give up knitting because of wrist problems. :( I have an entire box of yarn that needs to be knitted into a throw, I need to make 48 squares and I only made 5 before I had to stop.

Christy - Don't worry, even if this weekend doesn't go too well you have all of next week to make up for it, right?

Here is my funny (sort of) news of the day . . . I went to the doctor and they told me I have a stomach flu, and gave me a sheet of foods to eat and not to eat while I am sick (basically only eat stuff that is easy to digest). The "do not eat" foods are basically my whole diet: vegetables, fruits with skin, dairy products, whole grains, meats, orange juice. No wonder I felt so crappy yesterday, before that I had eaten two salads, multigrain cheerios and a piece of wheat bread, some eggs, and a huge amount of milk and orange juice. Oops! Last night I had vegetable broth and rice, nice and easy on the intestines. :p It was funny though because my bf was like "I'll make you dinner" but we had literally nothing in the apartment (except veg broth and rice) that was on the "okay" list! He was going to make me mashed potatoes, but when he took the sack of potatoes out of the cabinet they had rotted and liquified! EW! I thought potatoes were supposed to last a long time? I guess not!

jillybean720 09-09-2005 06:43 AM

I weighed in at TOPS last night with a 1/4-pound gain. Not bad considering I was up 6 pounds on Monday morning after this past weekend's food orgy :dizzy: My TOPS book still says 279.25, so I'm still below 280 :)

paperclippy--at least now you know what to eat to make you feel better...sending get well wishes your way!!

Fae/Christy--I lived in Va Beach last year (my sister and her fiance live there, so I'm down there all the time). It's a great area--lots to see and do. I don't actually know where Regent University is, though--everyone I knew who went to school went to either Norfolk State or just Tidewater Community College.

Amanda--If it's hard to breathe just sitting down, I don't think I'd chance making it even harder by working out. Hope your allergies get back in line soon so you feel better!

WastedThermos--Hope you were able to avoid the food yesterday! I didn't fare quite as well--splurged and had a piece of cake at the office borthday party :o

My mom knits and crochets all the time--whenever anyone we know has a baby, she either makes them a baby sweater or a baby blanket, and whenever anyone gets married, she makes them a big white wedding afghan. I never had much interest in it--I tried knitting a few times, but if I mess up a single stitch, I get all frustrated and throw it away :p

While I might pop in to check up on y'all over the weekend, you probably won't be hearing from me for a while. I fly out of BWI on Sunday evening to go to Raleigh, NC for an EPA conference for work, and I won't be home till late Wednesday night, so I probably won't post again until Thursday. The conference will probably be pretty dull, but hey, if I can get paid to be out of the office, I will do it! Plus I get to see my boss who just quit at the beginning of August to go to grad school in NC--we're meeting up for dinner while we're down there (the Graphics Manager, who used to share an office with my boss, is going, too), so that should be a great time! I will have to be very careful with what I eat--just because the company is paying for my food does NOT mean I can eat whatever I want!

JustForUs 09-09-2005 07:55 AM

Megan1982 09-09-2005 08:39 AM

Good morning everyone, :coffee: :coffee2: :coffee:

Oh, thank goodness it's Friday. I definitely meant to put all of those coffee icons. BF and roommates are going out of town which makes me sad, but I'm focusing on the positives of catching up on sleep, having plenty of time to exercise (it's not that he demands my time when he's around, I'd just rather spend it with him - even after 7 weeks 'we' feel so new and wonderful  ), and cooking 3 meals/day for myself w/o anyone else bringing home food. Last night I cooked him a "going away" dinner of General Tso's Chicken, jasmine rice, and steamed veggies. He had NO IDEA that the chicken recipe was a Weight Watchers one! Mwahahaha.

For the first time in weeks I was actually under my "maintenance" calories yesterday at 1600 (1800-2000 is maintenance, with exercise), and I even ran for the second day in a row. I'm trying to just take it one day at a time to stop this creeping upward of the scale and get back to maintenance. Thinking further ahead than the next meal just doesn't work for me right now - I get frustrated/craving sweets and end up binging.

Jilly, congrats on the minimal gain/damage control. Good luck on eating OP while traveling. For me, that can be very difficult. Hold onto your willpower!

Paperclippy, I hope you feel better soon. I hate to ask...how does one sprain one's wrist while sleeping? Gl w/ the 5k!

Fae, doesn't it feel GREAT getting hit on? ;)

Christy, I kind of love that feeling of "good pain" when I'm sore from exercise. You'll have your distance back up in no time!

Amanda, I think it depends on how bad your allergies are/what you feel you can do. I'd personally try to exercise unless I really felt I was hurting myself, but you know your body best.

Lizzie, you'll be able to exercise tomorrow, right? Try to look at the positive side of taking a day off - giving your body a little rest will make it stronger. BTW, I've been meaning to tell you a while what a BEAUTFIUL picture that is in your avatar! You have such a great smile and radiate so much positive energy.

Bida, I hope you feel better!

Justforus, I hope this medication will help you feel like your old self again.

She-Mullett, walking with the baby sounds like a perfect way to get some good exercise and quality time in at the same time.

Sugarbutt, gl w/ the family situation *hugs*

Ferret, it's great that you crochet for everyone else. I cross-stitch and make beaded jewelry and just give them away. It's totally just something to keep my hands busy when I'm watching TV, instead of eating!

I'm off to do some real work (by "real work" I mean edit a friend's cover letter b/c she got laid off unexpectly...but then I will do what I'm actually paid to do). Have a great day all!

Megan1982 09-09-2005 08:41 AM

Rather, she got laid off unexpectedly, not unexpectly. Really I can spell.

Ferret 09-09-2005 12:31 PM

sorry to hear about the allergies amanda...and fae, sorry to hear about being away from bf, that's gotta be hard...good job losing Jill :D ...wastedthermos, i hate that about work...not as bad now, but it used to be horrible for me at my old job...talk about packing on the pounds...hope you get well soon paperclippy, but that is kinda ironic lol...and just for us, good luck on the zoloft, i hope it helps :)

Ferret 09-09-2005 12:33 PM

oops forgot to tell you about me...so busy with your posts...anyways, i have a long week next week...3 days of training on how to hold residents when they get aggressive...but it'll be good to have it taken care of...i feel useless in holds because i can't hold...and last night was amazing because this one very ingenuine girl seems to be making some of these skills and knowledge concrete and has an awesome positive attitude towards her progress and future...i sure hope it's for real

WastedThermos 09-09-2005 04:40 PM

Fae- I hate washing machine/dryer trouble... It is one of those things you dont think about until it is gone. I am the bad roommate and always find a way to break ours.

Megan - I did get in some exercise today and I feel much better. I think it is a combination of physically feeling bad/mentally feeling guilty when I don`t work out... My new rule is that I'm not going to take more than a two day break from excercise. I noticed during the August challenge that when I missed one day I usually missed like.. the next three... so not good!! But at least I see my bad habits now.
And thank you so much! :o hehe thats me blushing!

I almost entirrrely avoided the baklava yesterday. hehe Really it was ok. Today they actually sent me on the doughnut run and then the caterer brought these pecan brownie things. I'm staying away from those. Since I'm going to parties tonight and I'm planning on drinking (only 2 and I'm getting low calorie beer that I dont really like anyway...) I'm trying to keep my calories on the lower side.

Oh... and today I did my first trial 5k. I still can't jog the whole way, but jogged most of it. It is weird how much I hate to run while I'm doing it, but how awesome it makes me feel afterwards.

Hope everyone has a safe, fun, lovely weekend!!!!!

I love that little dancy thing. It really describes how I feel.

sugarbutt 09-09-2005 08:54 PM

Today i got my first pap test done... not as bad as i thought it would be... i also got on birthcontrol to make sure i dont get preggo anytime soon since me and chris wanna wait..(its more chris than me i wanna baby now)... but does BC make you fat? i so got tests done to see if i had PCOS and it was all negative.... YAY!!!! i am all clear now just gottta wait for those dang test results that makes me nervous..what if something is wrong?

FaeReverie 09-09-2005 11:19 PM

Clippy - I have no idea if it is at a lab or a hospital. If I do do this, I am planning on taking an extra day and having a night in Pittsburg with my friend, since she goes to school there and I can sleep in her dorm :)

Ferrett - I'm used to it. I just like to ask everyone I can to be annoying *G*

Megan - I LOVE getting hit on, and it happens strangly often.. *looks down at her chest and sighs* What made this amusing is this is someone who has hit on me in the past, then screwed me over.. and he didnt even realize it was me!

Wasted - Hehe. If it makes you feel any better I broke our washing machine once by stuffing FAR too many clothes in there. Mother was NOT to happy with me... And how can you drink beer? I tried it once.. ew ew ew. Could NOT stand the taste. Gimme vodka and soda any day (Or the whiskey my friend and i got from the guy who owns the pizza place.. for her tooth hehe).

My head is going to split open. Literaly. Ouch. I wonder if this what a migraine feels like.. anyway, its a BAD headache. Off to go try and wash some laundry then hang it up to dry (esp. since I agreed to start work at noon instead of 4.. which gives me a 12 hour shift tomorrow and an 11 hour shift on sunday... ew.) And then do my cardio since I PROBABLY ate more then I should and I need to work it off (because let me tell you the 10 minutes I can make myself do is one **** of a rokout.. that was sarcasm... I think when I'm feeling better I am going to try to up the amount I do.. right now I do 3 sets of 10 of each.. maybe try 3 sets of 15? Workin my way up...) Then perhapes a hot bath. With a book. And bubbles. Yes, bubbles sound like a good idea. *gives everyone else bubbles too*

On the bright side, Monday at 4:30 I have an interview at Grotto Pizza as a cook. I hope I get hired, for I will be going against my belief and just telling my GM I quit, instead of putting in a 2 week notice.. Why? Because she forged my signature and I hate her. I'd like to screw her up for once :). Evil, but true.

Ferret 09-11-2005 10:43 AM

isn't it the truth!
and thermos i'm sorry to hear about the run...way to hold out though! and awesome job on the 5k...i'm so proud!
sugar glad to hear all appears well so far...if your pcos tests and such came out ok and you haven't had any problems in your nether region then i wouldn't worry too much about the pap results (the stress doesn't help) I remember feeling the same way back when i had my first, but i figure i better not worry until i know i have something to worry about ;)

paperclippy 09-11-2005 01:20 PM

Well ladies, I did it! I ran my first official 5k! My official time was something like 42:34 or so. Far from a PR (I know I can do 5k in 39 minutes), but I'm just glad I did it, considering how sick I was a few days ago! My other excuse is that there were hills! ;) Anyway, I think I started out too fast . . . I hit the mile 1 marker around 12:30, but I know I can't keep up a 12 min/mile pace. I ran out of steam before hitting mile 2 and all the speed walkers caught up with me, including an old woman with an assistive brace on her leg! :o My bf thinks we were totally slow, but oh well. Considering I couldn't even jog 1/4 mile in January, I think it was pretty good. :) And I did jog the entire way, no walking!

Laila_girl22 09-11-2005 01:31 PM

paperclippy- congratulations! That's amazing.... i can't wait until i can last more than 5 min. running! It takes work!

I just had the most delicious salad i have ever made. It was spinach, cucumbers, tomatos, feta cheese, and french crutons topped off with a little Sundried tomato dressing! YUMMY. I love feta cheese, but it's pretty strong, however it is balanced out very good with the sundried tomato dressing. I set a new workout goal, I am going to work out at least 5 days a week for 2 hours each day. 30 min on the elliptical, 30 min on the bike, today i'm thinking 15 min on treadmill walk/run and 15 min on row machine, and then 30 min strength training.

Later Ladies!

AmberM 09-11-2005 06:17 PM

Congrats Paperclippy! I cannnot imagine ever doing a 5K, especially after being sick! Great job! I need to get back on my walking program. I"ve been focusing on bike only which is a mistake and I'll probably plateau soon and have to change it up.

Great job!

Amber
