Hmmm... on Saturday my boyfriend suggested we have a "scrumptious dinner" - so I decided to try out this new Thai style broccoli. It was delicious... mmm... and according to the recipe, a serving of is only 107 calories. I served it with rice and some Italian crunch chicken (a ready-made from the store, I just had 2 square inches off my boyfriend's piece) and a parsley & tomato side salad. And I also baked 3 small vegetable-cheese samosas for each of us (67 calories for all 3!!!).
Didn't do much else... in the evening we headed to the park to play badminton. The sky was beautiful. Steve took his soccer ball and we kicked it around a bit. It was fun. And on Sunday I slept in late and then became inspired to hit the gym in the afternoon. I skipped rope, ran on the treadmill and did some work on the cross-trainer, but I didn't stretch properly afterwards, so now my calves are soooooore! Not so helpful for someone who's challenging themselves not to use elevators or escalators this week... ;) |
Well, today was a very good day, exercise and food wise! I slept in until 10 and had about a cup of dry Special K and 8oz of yo-j. Laila convinced me to take her for a walk before I left the house..... (those little eyes can say a lot... and you can't say no!) I went to my parents for a few hours where I had lunch: Turkey sandwhich (toasted cottage bread, 6 slices Sara Lee Honeysuckle white turkey, two slices colby-jack cheese, leaf of romaine lettuce, sliced tomatos, and a little mayo) and some Baked sour cream and chedder Lays chips. I was still there at dinner time and had a huge grilled chicken salad. I then went and worked out for an hour and half at the gym. I had an apple for a snack afterward and then 1/2 C Haggen Daz Vanilla Frozen Yogurt! Yummy.
Sara G. Thai broccoli? That sounds really good. You'll have to share that recipie with us! |
Yup, definitely semi-worried about the spaghetti straps, but it seems there are no cute dresses that have sleeves anymore, and her wedding is at the end of April in Va Beach (definitely warm weather). All the nice dresses I find are sleeveless, but we're going to get wraps to wear around our shoulders, too (I'm not the only one in the wedding party who is uncomfortable with her weight/appearance). Besides, it is my sister's day to shine, not mine--I've got my Jeff already wrapped around my little finger, so who've I got to impress? ;)
Well, I ended up not going to the gym after work yesterday (got caught up talking to someone in the office and didn't leave on time), but MAN did the workout gods make me pay dearly! I started my evening shift at the restaurant at 4, as per usual, and I often get kinda busy in that hour when I am on alone (most other servers come on at 5:15). So yeah, sometimes I'll have maybe 5-6 tables in that hour before anyone else comes on. Yesterday, I had 11. Yeah, 11. For anyone who has ever been a waitress at a chain restaurant, you know that the max per server is usually like 5 (at Ruby Tuesday, it's actually usually 4), but I was on alone, so I had no choice. Now, if it were just like a pizza place where people ordered, got their pizza, got their drinks, the end, that would be fine. But no. I had to have the pickiest 11 tables EVER. I want my steak well done, but no mushrooms, and instead of broccoli I want onion rings, and instead of baked potato I want fries, and I need a side of ranch and a side of UGH! Can't ANYONE just order whatis actually on the menu?! I actually went to one table that had been looking at their menus for a few minutes and asked if they were ready to order. they said yes, then looked at me and ordered the fillet minion. Fillet minion? At Ruby Tuesday? WHERE ARE THESE PEOPLE FROM?! No, sir, we don't have fillet minion (try actually READING the menu, dumba$$)! Okay, sorry, had to vent. Whew, it's all off my chest now. At least I made $84 last night, whereas normal lately for a Monday night has only ben $30-40. Of course, I made over $40 of it in my first hour and the other $40 over the course of the remaining 4.5 hours, so it wasn't crazy busy all night. But of course, I didn't get home till after 11, so when my alarm went off at 4:30 this morning, it was just painful, let me tell you... |
Morning ladies.. what a wonderful morning it is.. Not at all. So I am pulling up this morning to work and my phone rings, ok a little early for mike to be calling me, but ok. So I answer and he is like, Cheree..?? your daughter fell out of her crib! me: WHAT?? him: yea she was talking and playing, I went to the bathroom and hear a THUMP! and crying, so I ran into her room and she was stitting straight up crying, so I picked her up and held her and she stopped" me:oh my god is she ok?? him: yea, I dont know whow she got over the rail, her little leg cannot get that high.... now mind you its at the middle one and she is 11 months, not very big girl, but I did NOT think she could climb over this!! THAT LIL ****!! she scared the **** out of me and mike this morning. Needless to say, I had a GREAT work out this morning, got to work ealry, and BAM! No one ever told me that kids could be so stressful. Thank god she is ok! but Im still worried about my lil girl. I would leave early but my boss isnt here so I am now next in charge.
Other than that what a wonderful morning... Jillybean YOU ARE CRAZY! thats a lot of work!! I could not do it, and you def. did not miss your work out! you so got it in, just ina different way. Need my morning tea....... |
Good morning everyone,
Well it sounds like everyone had fun weekends, even if only half on/half off. I'll add my weekend to that category too. I did well food-wise. I successfully ate reasonable portions, and didn't snack except for veggies. But exercise is still lacking, which I'm upset at myself about, for a variety of mosquito, heat, rain, major time crunches/lack of prioritization, and laziness reasons. I'm good at making excuses, can you tell? It rained Friday & Saturday (for a total of 8 days of thunderstorms), so that involved several movies w/ the BF (Jill - nothing wrong w/ sitting around in your underwear ;) ). We were so excited it was sunny on Sunday that we ran outside and went scalloping and boating all day. Major meltdown yesterday afternoon. I stopped and got ice cream on the way home. All the good (chocolate) flavors of Edy's slow churned were sold out, so instead I got a pint of ben & jerry's. I specifically limited it to a pint b/c I knew I'd eat it all. Damn it was good. Now, no more. I made my new food/exercise log for the week. Period. Jill, what a beautiful dress! Next weekend I'm shopping for my maid of honor dress w/ my sister, and I hope I find something as pretty. Amber, I want a brownie too! Can you zap some through the LAN line to my computer? Justforus, how scary! I'm glad she is fine. Jenicra, have a great vacation! Paperclippy, congrats! Sushi, please post the thai broccoli recipe. It sounds delicious. Off to play with mud at work. I hope everyone's having a great day. :) ~Megan |
Jenicra -- Congrats on the A!
Sushi -- Sounds like a yummy dinner and a nice time getting some exercise in the park! Sara -- Talking about your parents reminds me that I forgot to call mine this weekend . . . :( I'd better do it this evening, they are leaving soon on a cruise to Alaska! Jill -- LOL about the filet mignon! I am so impressed that you manage to work so hard. I don't know if I could ever do that. JustForUs -- OMG, I am glad your little girl is okay! Can you imagine how you'll feel when she's a teenager and starts driving? Megan -- A splurge every so often isn't that terrible, just make sure you don't eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's every day! Why do you get to play with mud at work? Well, last time I said I didn't think I'd get to 140 by Wednesday, but I guess I must have been retaining water from the weekend, because I was 140 when I stepped on the scale this morning! :dancer: Here's hoping that by my birthday (Sept 12) after all my traveling I will not be any MORE than 140! I'm still planning on making my goal weight by the end of this year! |
Good morning! Sorry I haven't posted on our weekly chat yet. I ended my internship on Friday so I haven't been as bored and trying to kill time as much, which is a GREAT thing, but I definitely want to keep up with you girls. Hopefully now that I have so much free time I will stay on my healthy lifestyle and exercise routine. I feel like it could be better because I won't be sitting all day and bored. You know when you just start eating and eating and they tell you try to write down what you're feeling to know why you're eating, I'll tell you why I was eating I was B-O-R-E-D.
Today I am going dress shopping for my sister's wedding. I have to buy the bridesmaid dresses and with 14 bridesmaids this could be difficult... I HATE shopping with my mom and sister though because they are so much thinner than me and I only end up crying at the end. Megan don't worry about the meltdown we've ALL had them. At least you enjoyed the ice cream. Did you do anything today to "recover" from that. I never know if the next day I should be extra stict or what you know? JustForUs it's scary when something like that happens to your family. Congrats on that not leading to a full out binge. A lot of times when I am stressed I just start eating... gotta work on that one. Paperclippy ooh you're traveling so fun. It's hard when you go to a new place and have to figure out how to accomodate it to your weightloss. Jillybean you sound JUST LIKE ME. Has anyone ever asked you if you've ever seen "When Harry Met Sally"? HAHA I know more people are in the thread but I haven't fully caught up on the convo. Time to face the wolves and go dress shopping. The goal is to find something to make my stomach look good, that's my problem area. I'll check in later. Have a not so Turbulent Tuesday. |
Justforus,
Be prepared, your daughter might be a climber *smile* Or maybe it's a fluke. Mine was a climber (and still is but she's 4 so it's easier). She could crawl up the stairs before she walked. Once they get out of the crib once...watch out. If she keeps doing it, there is a tent thing you can buy to put on top of the crib. I actually gave up and just lowered the rail so she wouldn't get hurt when she did it. She did it until we got her out of the bed. Of course, she also liked to take her diaper off and leave it on the floor so we had to put her in onesies all the time so she wouldn't do it *hehe* Of course she figured those out too. Kids are smart! Good luck! Amber |
Paperclippy: Congrats on making your mini goal! I live pretty close to my parents so I go visit them almost everyday. I am planning to move to Florida in 6 months though.... that will definately be much harder not seeing them that often!
Justforus: I'm glad your daughter is ok. Babies are tough little critters, their bodies are made pretty cushy. Just wait until she is able to run around more... getting into everything! :D |
amber, thats makayala! She climbs up the stairs liek crazy, for about 2 weeks now. and she is kinda furniture walking but not really good. Shes so active, and Ima lil scared, that shes gonna be a handful! shes a talker but once she starts doing something she is not supposed to, like climb the stairs shjes really quite, and bolts up them. Im just scared something will happen. Not to mention she knows how to undo our gate! Oh man, Im not sure what I am going to do once she can walk let alone drive!!!! :^: :o :o

I posted the recipe for delicious broccoli in the Nutrition forum. :)

Hey ladies!
I've posted in the 20-somethings forum before, but I haven't joined a chat yet...I figure my 23rd b-day is as good a day as any! :)
I'll go ahead and add my weekend stuff to the lineup. On Saturday my mother-in-law took me shopping for my b-day...we went to Kohl's, Ross, Burlington Coat Factory, and a bunch of other shops in the mall. Not only did we get in 5 hours of walking (and not slowly...she's like a foot taller than me so I had to run to catch up LOL), but I ate well AND finally fit into size 14's (from busting out of my 16's)!! Sunday wasn't so great food or exercise-wise...it was just a dreary/lazy/rainy day. Yesterday started out good, but went downhill fast after I got home. I didn't exercise and for some reason I just REALLY had the munchies! I ended up eating WAY too many chips with onion dip...I felt awful. Then today I went to Sonic for lunch and had chicken and tater tots! I was already bummed because I didn't meet the 25 lbs lost goal that I had for my b-day, and then I go and eat junk like that??!! Sheesh! The last week or so I've slowly been coming OFF plan and I don't know why...I have GOT to get my butt in gear! I'm nearly 1/4 of the way to my goal...why am I sabotaging myself?? Argh...sorry, went off on a rant there. Anyway, nice to meet everyone! :) |
jilly- Working with the public is an exercise in so many ways.. mostly patience, I found. I used to work customer service and it taught me how NOT to be when I am the customer, so I always try to be nice to my waitress!
Megan - Is Edy's slow churned lower in calories? I'm always trying to find a way to incorporate frozen goodness into my diet but everything seems to still be either high in sugar or high in fat. I haven't heard of the slow churned stuff before. Paperclippy- Good job on making your goal! 'Miraculous' weightloss is a nice feeling, huh? Jenna - 14 bridesmaids? Wow! That is a lot of girls to please. Good luck and try not to stress!! Sushi- Thanks for the recipe!! I think I'm going to try to learn to eat broccoli this month. I'm always trying to learn how to cook and eat veggies, but I am so picky about the way things smell so I've always stayed away from cooked broccoli. Christy- Welcome!! Sonic tater tots are one of my major food loves. I think I could probably eat a truckload of them in one sitting. Good luck and don't beat yourself up about a few slip ups. |
FatChristy (I really hate the word fat, I'll just call you Christy from now on), welcome! Congratulations on fitting into size 14's, that's wonderful! Is there anything different about your life in the last week that might make you less motivated? More stress, more to do, less to do, less sleep, PMS etc? Something that would trigger your munchies? Just take it one day at a time. lol, that's all I ever say!
WastedThermos, have you not beheld the glory that is Edy's slow churned light ice cream??? It's DELICIOUS, tastes as good as normal ice cream, but has less fat and 110-120 cal per 1/2 cup serving. Check out their website, it even has a store finder on it. Note: Edy's is apparently known as Dreyer's in some parts of the country. Sushi Penguin, thanks for the recipe. I can't wait to try it! I love broccoli, I love Thai, I'm sure it will be a great combo. Cookiemonster, sometimes I do extra to recover, sometimes I don't. It usually depends on if I have the time to add an extra few miles of powerwalking onto my run. I've been so lax about working out lately that just getting back on track w/ my "normal" 4 miles, then weights, tonight will do. Penance might be waking up at 6:00 AM tomorrow to get tomorrow's run in early, though. I've found that in maintenance I can get away w/ the occasional splurge, I just have to be sure and really make it "occasional" - that's always been my problem! Paperclippy, I'm a marine research assistant and today and tomorrow I'm doing fieldwork in a part of the bay that's very muddy. I get paid to live out the fantasy of 4-year-olds everywhere. :p Home to work out now. ~Megan |
Fatchristy~ Welcome you should stop in more often. Never had any sonic food, never heard of it.
sushi ~ that looks yummy, I never had any thai before.. and love love broccoli paperclippy~ YAY!!!! now you are an inpriation! Guys its now 4 :30 here at work we are slow and I am bored, I ant to munch so I ate my grapes but im not hungry just BORED like cookiemonster said before. AAHHH plus Im stressed I dont know why, just am. Maybe I;ll get in an extra work out today after work. ... ... |
