New here...
Hey ladies. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and this seems like such a neat board! I hope I can join your group!
I'm 23, married, working full time, going to school full time, involved in church activites and trying to combat my ever increasing waistline. I have a problem. I think I am addicted to food. :hungry: Whether it's the food, or the action of eating, I'm not sure what is attracting me, but today I've been eating left and right and I'm never satisfied. I don't know why. Is there anyone who has experienced this, and if so, how did you get through it? I hope to get to know you all better as we do this together. :goodvibes |
Welcome skinnned knees! And to answer your question - heck yeah I feel like that, and I'm sure we're not alone. I'm learning that eating is about nothing more than nourishing your body so it can do the things that you want it to do - not about rewards, joy, or anything else that leads to emotional eating. I'm far from perfect in that thinking, but that's what I strive for. If it doesn't feed my body (perhaps it instead is feeding my head), I shouldn't be eating it.

Thanks jenicra! I really like that idea of thinking of food as fuel and not for rewards or joy. I struggle with this and social eating--eating just because I'm at a party or that to go out with friends, we have to go to a restaurant, but that's kind of my location. I'm in podunk IA so restaurants are about the only thing to do around here.... It's great to meet you!

Just wanted to say hello and welcome to the group. I love the quote on your signature...sometimes I think it's helpful to say a prayer in the morning and before I go to bed thanking Him not only for blessing me with my body, but also for giving me the ability to treat it with respect and love. I am about your same weight (161) and sometimes I feel so unhealthy too! What is your goal weight? Maybe we could be buddies? :o) Happy Thursday to everyone! |
