  • Hi all,

Just wanted to say hello... been a member here quite a while... but though I've been yo-yo-ing for years since I initially hit my goal weight in 2005, I have finally gained back nearly all 60 pounds that I initially lost

Now I'm back, with only 2 days of dieting under my belt, and hoping to take it off for good!!
  • Welcome back! I was pretty active on here for awhile but then I slipped off and gained everything back (37lbs, plus 8 extra). I'm also back hoping to take it off for good!

Good luck! You can do this!
  • Add me to the same list! You are not alone. I have gained and lost the same 30-50 pounds at least 3 or 4 times since I joined in 2006.

    We can do it!
  • I gained back and am trying to lose too! Good luck.
  • Well... I gave myself a year (starting July 1, 2012) to lose weight and after losing 50 pounds, I had started gaining the weight back... I gained back 10 pounds so far and I am freaking out because I have been here before -- five years ago I lost 40 pounds for my wedding and then gained back 65!

Anyway, I want to stop this downward spiral here and now (before I go all the way back), lose the 10 pounds I'd gained and continue losing the rest of it.

    Good Luck to us all!!!!!
  • I've gained and lost the same 20 pounds about 5 times now. :-/

I'm working to lose for good.
  • Same boat! Gained back the kg's I lost, with some extra! Starting to freak out that the scale keeps going up despite my continued desire for it to go down. Anyone got any tips for getting started again? I'm struggling to figure out how to get my weight loss started
  • Thanks for all the welcomes! Good to know I'm not alone in this... it feels SO horrible... like, when I first lost the 60 pounds I felt incredible, and if you had told me that I'd put it back on within 5 years or so I would never have believed it... how could I let it go so far?

Well to tell the truth I know exactly how I let it go so far... I had already gained about 25 pounds and then had a really bad breakup and that fueled the weight gain... in fact my gaining weight was part of the reason he broke up with me (very screwed up guy, I'm glad to be rid of him after 5 years of that)... anyway, I kept gaining afterwards because I was miserable anyway, and it just got out of control.

Now I'm with someone new-- who loves me as I am now, and is happy that I'm happy about getting back on a diet, but doesn't just love me for my body-- and I feel like everything is coming together for me

As for motivation for those trying to get back on track... I really had to hit the point where my weight was making me TOTALLY MISERABLE, every day, no matter where I was or what I was doing, if I caught a glimpse of myself I got very sad. I decided I can't live with that misery for another minute longer than I have to, so the sooner I stop the eating madness the sooner I'll get back to where I want to be. It took a lot of reflection and tantrum-throwing, but I finally got with it
  • I've also lost the same 20 pounds a zillion times. I want this to be the LAST time!

    Good luck, ladies!
  • Don't feel bad.I'm in the same boat. I had gotten up to 70lbs lost now have gained back 30.It hurts but all one can do is start a new.
  • I done the same thing last year I had lost 25lbs. Then my grandmother died. I got off my diet and gained all the weight back. Now it is time for me to start over.
  • Same here! Over the past year I lost 50 lbs. I hit my goal in February, and then went through a bad break up...started binge eating sugary junk. Since February, I've gained 7 lbs back. I'm newly motivated though and ready to get off the 7 lbs before it turns into 10 and then 15...I wanna catch it early before it really spirals out of control.

The first step was weighing myself today. The next steps are counting calories and cutting out junk. I can do this! In addition, I have changed my ultimate goal weight to 135...seeing that number would bring me such joy.
  • I did the same thing, don't feel bad, it happens to a lot of people! I weighed 140 until age 18, when I hit 160. I lost 30 pounds, got into a relationship with a crappy guy, and promptly began to gain 50 pounds. I've taken almost all 50 off but it took two years (I slowed down after the first year). However, I've been maintaining for a lot longer than I did back then. I beat my record - only several months back then - by a long shot so I think I learned from it and you can, too!
  • I'm in the same boat. I've gained 12 lbs back in 2 months it's time to kick it into gear and lose that weight!
  • Yup. I gained back all 25lbs I lost last fall when I got into bread baking and was finishing up my last semester at uni. The good thing is, it's coming off a bit easier as I wasn't carrying it for 2 years, just 4 months.
