Scale Issues
So after having a five year affair with my scale, it decided to start acting weird (very incorrect readings, like telling me I was 124lbs at one point). So today I went out and bought a new scale, and after adjusting it for accuracy on my carpet on top of a magazine, I am more than dismayed to find out that my old scale's trechery had started long before the 120 something episode. While this finding in no way changes my work out plan or diet, it does make me pretty upset. Instead of the 180 something that I thought I was, New Scale is telling me I am 205. :(
Even the scale at my parents house was lying to me. :( Has anyone else experienced this kind of disappointment? Also, I like naming my things, does anyone have a name suggestion for the New Scale? |
You have my total empathy. My scale was off by a full FORTY pounds for me a few months ago, and I would have kept using it, had I not stepped on my sister in law's and then my mom's and learned of it's treachery. Don't let it derail you like it did me. It knocked me into a pretty serious funk.
You know you're getting smaller. That's all that matters. I call mine "remley" :) |
I'm sorry  I know how much that sucks :( I've had that happen to me before and it really does suck. I'm pretty much just done with scales though because every scale reads me differently and I find measurements and clothing sizes are much more accurate and make me much less crazy. Good luck thinking of a name for your scale! mine's name is "b**ch face" ;)

Oh I had that happen to me too! I'd been using the same 40-year-old scale forever and it was giving me numbers I liked. Then I had the wild idea to buy a newfangled digital one. I stood on it, and it laughed. I went from 188 to 206 in an instant. It's awful!
But when you thought you weighed less, you believed it and it made you feel good. So don't stop feeling good. Because your clothes are still getting bigger and you're still getting smaller! As for naming things, I haven't named my scale, but I'd name it something sexy so you'll actually like it haha. |
It happened to me too! I was so mad! It definitely put me in a funk but there was nothing I could do. I just had to deal with it. It's hard to remember but it's just a number.

I got lucky. When my scale bit the dirt it showed me heavier than my new scale. I knew it was on the way out because the readings got very inconsistent.
I lost seven pounds immediately with the purchase of my EatSmart. |
Yeah, overall I'd say the experience was a bummer, but you guys are right. The scale isn't the bee-all end-all. :)

That has got to be disappointing. You know you're losing weight though. Don't let it bother you too much...
However, if your old scale and the one at your parent's house was saying the same thing... Isn't it possible that your new scale is faulty? I would try one more scale somewhere just for a comparison. |
