Hey ladies! Man, it's been a while. I see a few familiar faces. It's good to be back. Work was really hard on me this past school year (being a first year teacher and all), and I've gained a few pounds. Nothing too bad, but still it's a gain. Anyway, lots have gone on. We are supposed to be moving at the end of this month and I'll be working with a different school district. I'm excited about the move, but really stressed because I am buying my first house! It's been a stressful and long journey, but we are almost there. Supposed to close on June 26th! Hoping it all works out for us to be able to close on that date. We are still waiting on some paperwork issues and for the seller to make some minor repairs. Anyway, it's time for me to get back to the grind and I know it's so much easier living healthier when you have a great support system and someone to talk to about it. Excited to get back on the train and to see what's been going on for everyone.

Everlasting Wow, a lot of stuff has happened for you in the last few years - I'm sorry to hear about the bad parts but glad you're through it ok. I'm not great at saying the right things so I hope that's ok! Also your daughter is really cute! I think you have done amazing with life so far anyway, and its ok for other stuff to get in the way sometimes - you just have to go easy on yourself. And yay for your laptop!
Rie What are we doing!! Seriously, we both had bad weekends. It's hard! I guess that's why "they" say its hard - there will always be temptation, I just guess both of us need to really learn to say no a bit more often! I guess you're right about the Dukan diet. I think what I actually need to do is just be more strict with myself! Missy Ugh, yeah. Can't give myself free reign, that would be ridiculous! Hannibal is a tv series based on Hannibal as in Silence of the Lambs - but it's like a prequel, I think more based around the time of Red Dragon etc? It's not solely focused on him, but it's a good show - very creepy, the actor who plays Hannibal is GOOD. Your date night sounds fun, I think we all need a night like that sometimes where we don't think about being super healthy (just don't do it as often as I do haha!) Hope you got your run in! sgregg Hey, nice to see you again, I think I remember your name from a while ago! Congrats on the house, and fingers crossed it all goes through, how exciting for you!! ~Ugh, that weekend seriously hurt my weight. I'm also getting frustrated with my scale - I think maybe it needs a rejig or something, I used to get fairly consistent numbers in the same spot in the bathroom but now I have to move it around to a few different spots as I wait to see a number that looks about right. It's stupid, and probably inaccurate. I'm going with 63.3kg for this morning because 64.6kg is just too depressing (and I'm sure I didn't do THAT much damage!). I didn't get to run yesterday, had a last minute commitment come up - went to see my sister's choir (she is the conductor for a couple of choirs at our old high school, so I wanted to support her). I did keep within 1300 calories, but the last 300 of those came from a donut. I will run after work today and tomorrow, and will try Thursday as well, but my boyfriend and I are going out for dinner on Thursday with my parents as it's the last time they'll see him before he leaves for Europe/Canada. Only a week till he leaves now, I'm starting to feel sad! I won't see him again til September. Lots of social stuff between now and then though, so I'm thinking of really and truly just trying to maintain between now and then. If I see a loss, great, but not gaining will be my main goal - and since I've basically been doing that for the past two months, it can't be too hard right? |
Everlasting - I remember you! Sadly, I have gained also and I am back to get this weight off. It does make me feel bad to think that I cannot stay on track, but oh well, it's life. Everyone falls and gets back up. I'm definitely feeling your pain on the age thing. I turn the big 3-0 this year! :o AND I have an 8-year old and a 2-year old AND I live in the country also! So, yeah, I can totally relate with you there. There is nowhere for us to walk though. Even though we live in the country, our road is pretty busy because there are a lot of folks that live down here, and they speed by so fast. I'm afraid of walking on the road. Anyway, glad to see a familiar face and here's to getting back on the right track! :carrot:
Riestrella Hey!! It's good to see that you are still here! I see that you made it to Japan too! Did you find an English-teaching job? Rainbow I love Hannibal! I gotta catch up on my episodes though. I have them on DVR right now. I can't watch the show when it comes on because of DS and DD being up and in the way. I don't want to horrify them before they go to bed. Ha! And I've never heard of the Dukan diet...please, fill us in. :) Welp, today is my first day back at counting my calories and paying more attention to what I'm eating. I ate a big breakfast. That seems to work in my favor to keep me going for the rest of the day. Plus, I got lots to do today. Gotta clean out closets...ugh! I have a love/hate relationship with packing and moving. I love being able to start fresh somewhere, the change, and getting rid of things that we don't need. But, I hate the actual packing and moving part. It will be great to get in my very own house though! I'm tired of renting. Hope everyone has a great day! |
hey everyone! Sorry I have been mia! in Orlando for a mobility summer camp for the kiddo and life has been crazy. I haven't gained any weight but I forgot my running shoes and will have to wait till the weekend to run. I am on my phone and will wait till I
am on a computer to go through personals. just wanted to say hi I am alive! |
Sgregg – Hi, nice to have you! Congrats on the new house, how exciting. I hate to pack things up and move, but I love a change of atmosphere. And owning your own home? That’s great! DH and I rent and I can’t wait for the day that we’ll be able to own, although I don’t foresee that happening for a long, long time.
Stripe – Huh, I’ve never heard of the tv show, I’ll have to check it out. I did indeed get my run in, and DH actually ran with me! Normally I like to go solo, but now that my endurance is up and I’m better at running I invited him along. It was fun to have the company, and I felt pretty good about myself afterward considering how much he complained about how sore he was! I hope you have fun at the dinner with your BF and his family. Sun – Glad to see you, I was wondering where you were! I hope you’re having fun with your DD. Well, yesterday wasn’t a running day but I did get some exercise in – DH and I went kayaking with some friends in the morning and that was pretty fun. Eating yesterday was total crap though, and this morning’s WI was 136! Yikes! I’m so sick of battling my body. Can’t it just be where I want it to be now??? The sky looks a little ominous right now, but I’ve got a run planned for today so I’m hoping it won’t rain. The forecast says scattered thunderstorms and showers. I’m trying to decide if I should just go now before it starts or just reschedule it for tomorrow. Decisions decisions. |
Hello there 20-Somethings folks; I'm returning to 3FC after a LONG time (many years) away, with a shiny new account. I'm hoping I can find a place here among my fellow 20-Somethings.
A little about me: I'm a 28 year-old lady living in the Northeast USA. I'm a project manager by trade, and live with my boyfriend, a cat, a hedgehog, a bearded dragon, and a ball python (domestic bliss). My lowest ever weight was just about 2 years ago, when I was 150 pounds. That was after I dropped ~40 pounds. Newly-single, in a new city with a new job, and going a LITTLE party girl crazy, I gained all the weight back (+30 pounds). I'm ready to get back on that proverbial horse and ride my heart out. |
Missy - I'm sure it will happen one day. We have been renting together since I've known DH (about 10 years now). I never thought I would be able to buy a house, but not only are we buying one, I am getting it only in MY name! I just never thought that would happen...that I would never be able to support myself like that, but it's happening. DH isn't on the loan because he's self-employed and it's just a big hassle. He doesn't even have a credit score. Just keep your credit good and you will get there one day. Kayaking sounds like so much fun. That's something we have always wanted to do, but can't really get out there with the kids as young as they are. Maybe I will be able to before I'm 40. Ha!
Phoenix - Welcome back! |
Nyx – Welcome, nice to have you. Hedgehogs are so cute, what’s its name?
Sgregg – Fortunately we live in a fairly active community, and we’re able to rent kayaks (as well as canoes and other watercraft) at the park. It’s an hour and a half trip down the river, where you dock at the next park and they drive you back to the first park in a van. Since it was only a few hours in the morning my mom was able to watch DS for us, which was really nice. If you ever get a chance you should do it, it’s easy and fun! Good morning everybody. Well, this morning’s WI was 136.4, but TOM also arrived today, so I’m really really hoping that some of that is water retention and will go away. I ended up not going running yesterday because 1) The weather was crap and it was raining and storming on and off all day and 2) I decided to go over and see my bff for a few hours in the afternoon. Today it’s sunny and the skies look clear, so I’m going to get out there in a little bit. It’s a big day here for us, it’s DS’s birthday!!! He’s officially one year old! Time flies. We aren’t really doing anything today to celebrate, but his party will be this Saturday and all of his grandparents and some of his aunts uncles and cousins will be coming, so that will be fun (or stressful!). Here’s a picture of my little Lovey Bug that DH took yesterday: http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps453dffd7.jpg |
Missy - Thanks for the welcome! His name is Anton and he is indeed SUPER cute (but very grumpy). I haven't hit my "you're allowed to post photos" required post amount yet, but when I do, I'll share. :)
And congratulations on your own little love's birthday! He's super adorable. My friends' son's first birthday party was insanity--with all of the family and friends lavishing him with gifts. Quite a full house -- sounds like you're in for something similar! Shauna - Thanks, and a huge congrats to you on the house! That's definitely something I'm going to be trying to do in the next 5 years or so. |
Sgregg- That is great about getting into your own home! DH and I rented for the first 3 months of our marriage and that was enough of that. If we were going to barely making ends meet anyway, we might as well be putting the money toward something we could keep. We found a place willing to do a land contract (so no having to take out loans, DH has bad credit from starting his business still, and I have no credit). After 2 years we have our place completely paid off, and we're looking at buying another one and then using this one as a rental unit.
Missy- Your son is so adorable! Look at that fluff hair! Mine has a head of fluff too. We had a tiny party on her first birthday but my stepkids mother made it a huge hassle because she kept changing the time she would "allow" them to come over (since it wasn't our official day to have them), and then they threw huge fits because at their moms house they get presents on their own birthday AND on each others birthdays, and people didn't bring them presents. Felicity didn't care at least. She just wanted the cake and the wrapping paper. Oh goodness, we are going simpler this year I think. People will be invited and if they can't make it... oh well. Nxy - Love hedgehogs! We want one as soon as my daughter is old enough to not strangle it! Ah I weighed in at 263 this morning. Yay! I was hovering around 265 for about a week so it was nice to see the drop (and it was after a good night's sleep!). I have been on track calorie wise for the most part as far as the average weekly, but I'm going back and forth day by day. I guess that's the best way to do it for me maybe. Eat less on the less hungry days, and more on the more hungry days, but make sure I keep it at the weekly average. Been planting the garden all morning. Going to finish it tonight! Can't wait for all the fresh veggies! |
nyxwelcome back
missy your DS is super cute. congrats! One year! Hope he has fun on Saturday. everlasting Nice job on the drop! I love when the scale goes down. So I am in Orlando still and I havn't been doing much at all. There is no scale here so will weigh in tomorrow when I am home for the weekend. It is so boring here as I have not alot to do and don't want to spend too much money. I wil make sure I have my running shoes for this next week and run each day while DD is in ability camp. Looking forward to that. Need to get out of the 160s as soon as possible. Hope you all are doing well! |
Wow, I haven't posted Since Sunday! Almost a week. Well this week hasn't been too great for me, which inspired me to set up my 20 day challenge - please check it out and sign up if you're up for a real challenge!!
I've been hit and miss, no exercise due to illness (not been able to breathe due to cold AND cough!) and eating hasn't been great either. Not been preparing my lunches like I normally do - guess I'm just in a really bad slump right now huh? I DID start a 30 day ab challenge with my co-workers! It's been such a great motivation knowing that we're doing it together and even seeing them do it too. I really wish that they wanted to lose weight, it would be a great way to keep on track if I had immediate friendly competition! Since I pretty much eat most of my food at work. But none of them really need to lose weight so oh well ;p. This weekend I'm visiting a friends place with the boyfriend, we're getting takeaway and there will be drinks. I'm going to workout this afternoon, have something really small for lunch and PACE myself!! I'm also going to go through my fridge and throw out all the food that has no doubt gone off. I need to do another big shop which will put a dent in my funds but it's necessary! I haven't been at my house for a while, been visiting a the boyfriend at his place the last 3 weeks, so it'll be nice to cleanse my mind by cleaning my living space! --- Missy - Yeah, it would be easier if we didn't have lives! On a good day I try and hit all the food groups - grains, dairy, protein, veg, fruit and fats. Looking of your food diary is a good place to start. Our bodies can be really frustrating with how the number on the scale sways around all willy nilly. But it's important not to become a slave to the scales, to work hard and eat right and FEEL good rather than letting your weight allow you to feel good. It's good to weigh in but sometimes it can mess with our heads! Cute picture of your son! Everlasting - Good shoes are essential to exercise, so I would recommend wearing shoes at all times when you're doing any sort of fitness! sgregg - You're back!! Great to see you! Ooh, first house, exciting times. Hope it all works out for you! Yeah I did find a teaching job! I'm actually better off than I would have been if I was working at the places I tried to get into before. So I'm super happy! I have great co-workers, I've got a great salary and the work isn't terrible. rainbow - Let's just get to work, right?! Haha. Are you moving your scale while it's on? Because that can mess up the numbers. Aww, I bet it is sad knowing he's leaving!! But you will see him soon enough =). How did the run go? Phoenix - Welcome back! What's your plan of action? sun - Sorry you're bored! Hope you can get out there running soon =) |
Nyx – Thanks! I like when animals have “human” names ;)
Everlasting – Thank you! Ugh, your party with the mom sounds like a nightmare! Some people just get off on making things difficult for others. Great job on the weigh in! DH and I are doing a veggie garden this year too. Well, it’s mostly his garden right now, but I’ll be helping him harvest and eat, lol. Sun – Thanks! How is your weekend going? For how many weeks does your DD have camp? Don’t forget your shoes! Rie – Thanks! Yeah, it’s easy to say that we won’t be slaves to the scale, but putting that into practice is a lot harder! A clean space always makes me feel good too. Unfortunately my DH is a total slob and DS is just a little peanut, so that means that I’m stuck cleaning up after everyone! So yesterday was DS’s big first birthday party! We had it at the park, and there was a pavilion that I had been planning on using, but long story short it was already taken. The afternoon started off cloudy and there were a few smatters of rain, and I was starting to worry and get upset because we didn’t have a back-up, but the weather cleared up and we used some picnic tables off to the side. Everyone that we were expecting showed up and it ended up being just fine. I had made all the food so I know that it was pretty much all “healthy” and people seemed to like it because very little was left over. I was happy about the way DS’s cake turned out (I made it myself) and actually got a lot of complements on it. Unfortunately DS is allergic to milk and eggs, so I had to make a vegan cake, and finding a decent vegan cake recipe is a challenge. I ended up finding one for a carrot cake made with applesauce (instead of eggs or milk) with a powdered sugar and maple syrup topping. It didn’t taste like a “traditional” birthday cake, but I think some people actually liked it better and DS sure enjoyed it, so it was all good. I’ve got to get my butt moving, DS has his swimming lesson and we need to leave in 15 minutes. Eeek! Have a great day everyone! |
Where is everybody??? You all better be staying on plan!
Yesterday's calories = on plan. Morning WI = 133.4. Thank God that's down from Friday's high of 137.0! I'm officially done with my "maintenance" break and am ready to start losing some serious poundage. I will get out of the 130's. I need to be much more diligent about what/how much I'm eating, and not use the fact that I'm still nursing as an excuse to eat more than what my body actually needs. Today DH and I are going out for steak to celebrate Father's Day (the restaurant we wanted to go to is closed on Sundays, so we'll be celebrating today). Despite the fact that we're eating out, I will stay within my calorie range. Also on today's agenda: begin week 7 day 1 of C25K - that's 25-min-straight-no-walking-run! I'm pumped for it! Have a great day all. |
Hey everyone! No time to do personals but I just to wanted to say hi! I have my monthly progress pic. Its against my original taken 3 months ago. Hope you are doing well. Will come back later to chat.
