Good morning everyone! My calories were in check yesterday, BUT this morning's weekly WI was 134.2 (up one pound from yesterday, down .6 from last week). I'm blaming it on TOM, as he just showed up this morning. When hubby gets up I have to go for my run, then we're going grocery shopping, then getting ready for some friends to come over tonight. We're going to be grilling, and I'm going to make some different salads.

Will do personals later. Have a great day!

spanky 05-17-2013 01:11 PM

Good Morning,

Thought I'd stop in and meet some new folks around the boards. I see some of you are runners--I'm thinking about training with my dog for the "Pooch To 5K" runs. I guess they're an offshoot fo the "Couch to 5K" idea.

One of my doggies is on the plump side [the vet called her a Little Pork Chop, so I guess it was a hint!] and, like me, need to get more exercise. I downloaded the program and think I'll start tonight.

As for me, I'm counting calories and limiting grain kinds of carbs, and leaning heavily on the Beck Diet program. I need to add more exercise as part of the program and noticed your mention of running...

So--"Hello"!

Hi! Nice to meet you. I'm not a runner and i'm doing Weight Watchers. I just did the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred and I want to fall over. lol! But it was a great workout

jmko 05-17-2013 02:06 PM

sun Hahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only one that breathes like this. Glad you saw 166!!! And have fun with your friend. Just keep running and making right choices!

fitmama Hello!

krissy TOM is the worst, as you know from my woes earlier this week. I'm sure in a few days you'll be back to normal. Have fun tonight!

spanky Welcome! What is the Beck Diet?

Okay, so I've done it! I started Couch to 5K. Did the first run yesterday and I feel great! Okay, all things considered, it wasn't too bad. The BF went with me and he's on board to complete this with me. He's so supportive, I love him to death. It's like having a personal trainer, but he's nicer, haha. I think I was a little too eager, and started feeling really light-headed and nauseated about 3/4 through the run. Once I cut back the intensity on the running portion I felt a lot better and felt like this is more doable. Of course, I was breathing like a dragon (haha sun) the entire time. At that point I was so tired I don't think I cared what he thought. I think once off medifast the runs will be better. More calories = more energy. I had a TON of energy after the run, and couldn't believe it. Though, when I think about it, I used to work out religiously. Once I stopped I started getting really tired all the time. I love this. I can do this!

Apparently my scale loves it, too because it finally MOVED! Down a whole pound from yesterday and I'm ecstatic! I didn't think it would because I had a little extra protein from that lunch yesterday but I guess I'm doing well! I have a lunch meeting with a potential bride (my side business is wedding planning) and it's Friday!! It's going to be a great day!

Go you! I hated couch to 5k...I've never been good with running. I'm more of a sports or video type person. I give MAJOR props to anyone who can run!

Dani86 05-17-2013 04:34 PM

Hey guys! Thought I'd drop in and say hi, I've been MIA for a few days as I was out of town. I'll catch up with personals in a bit but I just wanted to show off my beautiful new signature! (yay! - also, down more weight despite being out of town and therefore eating out, using the hotel gym, etc...)

Hope everyone had a great week!!

Riestrella 05-17-2013 08:51 PM

My hard work is starting to pay off, I'm down to 157 lbs this morning! Losing a lb on my period is a huge accomplishment, it makes all those workouts and healthy eating worth it! I'm also hoping that I'll see a WHOOSH after my period is up, I'm going to be super idealistic and predict maybe a 2 lb loss at some point?! I know - it's dangerous to get my hopes up! But I'm feeling pumped!

Yesterday I didn't work out since I was watching the epic Game of Thrones, but today I'm going to do some intense cardio either with Mr. Shaun T or on a run. Not decided yet. Probably Insanity since I want to walk to my running route with my boyfriend just in case it's sketchy and I don't want to look like a numpty in my running gear walking around! I try and find the route on street view on Google maps but it jumps around between the upper level and lower level of a big bridge =S.

This weekend I'm going to my boyfriends and we're going to wander around his new area. So walking = good although I'm running low on money since I bought a big chest of drawers so I won't be able to buy anything in the cool shops we pass ;_;. But I'm going to take my running gear with me and do a run on Sunday around the park that's nearish to where he lives. I always get nervous trying new routes!

---

Missy K - Woohoo! Well done! I always use my lowest weight of the week as my official weight! Or the weight I've been averagely seeing. Good for you at the BBQ, those are dangerous!! Dark chocolate is actually good for you in small doses, so don't feel too bad! I always loved shopping at Macy's, I thought their dresses fit me nicely since I have huge boobs it's always hard to find nice dresses! TREAT YO SELF!
My favourite character is Daenerys - I freakin' LOVE dragons (have a dragon tattoo and everything) so she was an instant favourite for me! I also like Tyrion and I'm quite interested where Jamie Lanister's character is going at the moment. There are a few side characters I like too but their names escape me! I'm not a huge fan of Arya you know...maybe it's because I find her actress to be really whiney sounding! But I know she's got a strong following from people who read the books. So she might turn out to be cool!

jmko - Yay, glad to see more GoT fans in here! HUGE CONGRATS on starting running! Drink lots of water and keep it up eating protein! Protein is your new best friend!

sun - Aww, I'm sorry that you can't have more kids =(. Take comfort that you are blessed with children right now. I know it's hard knowing that you can't have more...but some women can't have them to begin with. You're very lucky in that instance. So feel that love and concentrate on what you have and not what you don't have, you know? I'm not at all saying you don't appreciate your children now, just try and not focus on the negatives when you have so many positives. Feel better!
Have fun with your friend from England! How did you two meet?

spanky - Haha, your username is funny. Loving the pooch to 5k idea! I LOVE LOVE LOVE running with dogs, they really motivate you and it's so fun. I ran with my black lab puppy but she was super annoying because she kept stopping to eat poo!! Gross I know. She'd also pounce on other dogs because she wanted to play so I had to stop taking her because she was ruining my flow haha. But the times that I did run with the dogs and didn't come across trouble it was fun.

Dani - Yay, you've joined the ticker party!

fitmama84 05-18-2013 08:29 AM

Good morning! I'm REALLY sore today as I just did my first workout yesterday...praying that I can get through the video today without falling over! lol

Missy Krissy 05-18-2013 09:41 AM

Jmko – LOL about the howling cats. Yay, you’re joining the C25K!!! You can do it! Great job on doing your first run. I had to keep slowing myself down too. I’m really bad at pacing myself, and it’s like my legs are saying “Go go go! Faster faster, this feels great!” while my lungs are screaming “Faster? Over your dead body, haha! I refuse to work if you listen to your legs!” When I go slower I get more out if it. I was reading some running forums a little while ago and the general consensus was that it is best to just get yourself used to running and build up endurance first. They said that speed comes later. Huge congrats on the scale moving! Go you!

Sun
– I’m sorry to hear that you won’t be able to have more children. I can’t imagine how that must feel  I hope you’re having a good time with your friend! Hey, 1/2 a run is better than no run at all, right? You’re doing great with weight loss, keep it up!

Fitmama – Welcome! Tell us a little about yourself.

Spanky – It’s good to have you! I’m in Michigan too (the A2 area). Whereabouts are you? I just joined in the running 2 weeks ago, and I think most of us in this thread are runners too. It’s been really encouraging for me to read about how well some of these ladies are able to run now. Little Pork Chop, LOL! What kind of dog do you have? Do you remember the Nickelodeon show “Doug” and his dog Pork Chop?

Dani – Good to see you, and nice sig :)

Riestrella – Great job on the weigh in! As for the dark chocolate, I probably had about 8 squares / 280 calories of it… so the dose wasn’t exactly what I’d call small, LOL! Boo on having low funds. But at least you can window shop, and maybe get a wish list going ;) Did you guys walk the running route yet? How does it look?

So this morning’s WI… Drumroll…………………………… 132.8! I have no idea if it will stick, but I’m glad to see it. Calories were in check yesterday. I think that making sure I get 5 servings of fruits/veggies per day has been helping. I made this AWESOME fruit salad yesterday, and between DH and I it’s almost all gone already! In case anyone’s interested, here’s the recipe:

1 pint blueberries
½ pound strawberries (I used ½ of a one pound package), sliced
1 pound green seedless grapes
¼ cup honey
Juice of two limes

It ended up being .7 calories per gram
(I know, I used pound measurements in the ingredients then grams for serving, but I measure what I eat in grams and the recipe called for pounds!)

Yesterday marked the completion of week 2 of C25K for me. I felt really good about my run, and even ran a few minutes extra (beyond the 20 minutes the program calls for). Not much extra, only about 5 minutes because I didn’t want to overdo it. I followed it up with some more yoga. Today is a rest day. I’m excited to get started on the longer running intervals next week, but I think I’ll have to start Monday. Tomorrow I’ve got a wedding shower to go to earlier in the day, so I might not get my run in.

Today is Farmer’s Market day! The fam and I are going to walk down to our local market then go into the city for the big market. We’re also going to check out a few plant sales today. Our friends had to cancel yesterday, but they’re coming over today. So, grilling again! But it’s all good.

Not much else to report, have a great day everyone!

rainbowstripe 05-18-2013 10:12 PM

Sweet That is quite interesting re the weightloss surgery - all definitely stuff my boyfriend will probably be looking at.

Rie I am trying to take your advice re not letting myself get weighed down (pardon the pun) by the pressure of having missed runs. This week has turned out to be only a two run week, but it's ok! I'll get back on the running horse this next week and I'll keep chipping away at it. I've made definitely some more conscious and better food/drink choices this weekend, so I feel a bit more in control. Haha Shaun T. I used to do Hip Hop Abs, I always found him amusing. Hope you had a good time exploring the new area!!

Missy I totally didn't even think about the breastfeeding thing, so yeah, understandable you can eat more and still lose, and of course you have to do right by your son!! Hope your lunch with your friend was good and that your grilling goes well! I'm jealous of your farmer's market trips - I love markets! And congrats on the low weigh in!

jmko I am totally sure I was better haha. I think actually it might have something to do with the fact that the school I went to now places a way bigger influence on sporting activities and less on cultural/the arts... so it's a bit sad in a way! Hope the conference went ok!! Yay on the first run for couch to 5k! I know how you feel with nauseated feelings/light headedness - I used to get that when I started running and would have to make sure I did eat something at least half an hour before I went, so you're probably right about when you're done with medifast. So cool that you're loving it!!

sun Hope you're having fun with your friend from England, sorry to hear about the run being cut short by heat - I know how frustrating that is. I made the mistake a few months ago (when it was still summer) of going for a run at 11am for an hour - man it was SO sweltering towards the end! I had decent tan lines from those runs in summer haha.

spanky Pooch to 5k sounds SO AMAZING. I wish I had a dog, I would be so happy to do something like that haha. I've wanted a dog for ages but it's just not the right time in my life.

Dani Cute signature!

~Alright, whoooooo long personals hahah! I didn't get to run on Friday night due to after work drinks (where I had 2 vodka diet cokes and a few fries) and then we went out for dinner with a visiting friend - boyfriend and I shared, which I'm glad about - less food. I had three glasses of wine over the course of the evening, and I paced myself, so I feel like I'm more in control, which is good. I did feel REALLY sick when we got home (after walking the 3km) which sucked, but I don't know why that was.
Yesterday was fairly relaxed, boyfriend and I went to see The Perks of Being a Wallflower and I enjoyed that, I did have some icecream and sushi, but nothing too huge. Last night was a triple date at a friend's place, she made what seemed like a fairly healthy vege-full lasagne (and a not so healthy chocolate mousse) but hey, I think it was well moderated over all... and I was the sober driver, so no alcohol for me!
Today I am not doing a lot at all. I have eaten a pastry this morning, but dinner is going to be super light (homemade vege soup) so I'm not super worried.

My weigh-ins have been a steady 62.5 or 62.6 kg for the last 5 days so I feel like I'm actually in control. I haven't run since Thurs, and I won't today, or tomorrow because I have my brazilian wax and it is no good running straight after that haha, but come Tuesday, I'll be back out there, rain or shine. I'm aiming for a minimum of four runs this coming week.

Riestrella 05-19-2013 09:07 AM

Blergh, it's Monday again tomorrow =(.

I had a nice weekend! On Saturday I ended up doing INSANITEEH. It was...hard. Oh my lordy lord I know I've done the whole programme before but I forgot how hard it was. As soon as it got to the basketball drills I was DYING. My whole body was covered in sweat, probably due to the hot weather but still. Gave my boyfriend a sweat hug halfway through which he "appreciated" hehehe. After that we went to the boyfriends place and fully explored his new area. We were walking around alll day so that was another workout in itself. Must have been walking around for like 2-3 hours. Really love his city!

Today (Sunday) my calves were KILLING ME! I have never experienced such pain! Even after running a 10K! But my boyfriend was like "you should still exercise, it's what my track coach used to tell us" so I sucked it up and went on a 3 mile run. The new route is nice...it's around a lovely, vibrant park (lots of little art stalls and musicians) but it is a bit on the busy side. I saw loads of runners so it wasn't weird to run around it, but I felt it could get a bit boring since I had to do 2 laps around it.

Food wise, I was ok. I had sushi on both days (lunch Saturday, dinner today) weirdly enough, so the rice wasn't amazing but the fish was deeelicious and healthy. I didn't go for the ones covered in mayo! I bought a bento box from the convenience store for dinner on Saturday, which was a baaad move. I wasn't really thinking but when I looked at the calories it was 900!! So I ate half of everything and gave the rest to my boyfriend, so hopefully that didn't do too much damage. I had done Insanity that day so my body was like "fooooood please!" I should have just got something small but didn't =/. Anyway, I was happy enough that I didn't gobble it all up and halved it. I had a few bad treats, a banana and cream crepe (which was gorgeous I won't deny!) and I had a few cereal bar snack things that wasn't too bad, but I had some cheetos too. The cereal bars and the cheetos I really didn't need =/.
It's super hard to eat healthy at my boyfriends at the moment because he doesn't have a fridge! So I can't buy fruit and veg because I've not got somewhere to store them. I just need to be really careful not to give in to huge treats, I wasn't awful this weekend but there were definitely things I didn't need to eat. He lives in food central though...like holy wow there is delicious food EVERYWHERE.

But I'm so happy that I stuck to my workouts! Tomorrow I'll be doing yoga to give my muscles a break! Need to down a lot of water right now too, I'm hoping for a loss on the scales tomorrow but I don't think it'll happen! One can hope.

On a random note: when we walked around the park we walked past a woman walking her fricking EAGLE. Seriously I look over and see a huge black eagle on her arm. I was like, what the fudge! There was also a woman who did caricature paintings that were AWESOME. Usually I think that kind of style is really cheesy, but she did it really well. And it wasn't expensive too! I really want to get one done but the line was really long! She took like 30 minutes to do each one because she painted it too. I saw her again on my Sunday morning run, so I'm hoping she's a regular so I can get one done with the boyfriend! We also passed a club that had "Sexual Harassment Space" written under the club name. Oh, Engrish! It makes me laugh!

Are there any gamers here? I played Bioshock Infinite recently and loved it, I bought this piece of jewelry that's taken from the game, here's a pic!:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...41039358_n.jpg
You either pick a bird or a cage design - I just loved the cage for some reason so I was so happy to see this on sale on Etsy!

On a side vote, please vote in the song contest if you haven't already!!

---

Missy K - Still haven't walked the running route around my area but the boyfriends area running route is like I mentioned in my post! Sounds like you're having a huge success with your running and new eating plan. Good on you! Honey and lime...sounds interesting! I do love me some fruit salads! I tend to eat strawberries, an apple and a banana in a day. Fruit in Japan is SOOO expensive for some reason. It's like $14 for a water melon. I might buy some kiwis and try and fit in that somewhere in my day.

Rainbow - Definitely don't feel bad about missing out on runs, I know how you feel but sometimes there isn't enough time in the day! 2 runs in a week is still better than zero. Glad that you're feeling more in control of your weekend food/drink choices, it's always tricky! Haha, I saw the advert for hip hop abs and thought it looked SOOO different to Insanity! He's so bada$$ and inspirational in Insanity but looks really camp in hip hop abs!

I'm an Insanity lover too! It's been one month for me.Four weeks down, five more to go. I love how quickly the time passes and never has anything gotten me quite so sweaty or winded =)

Congrats on your weightloss -- period weight loss seems like an oxy-moron, but very inspiring, thanks!!

I'm the worst dieter, and that's why I'm here! Hoping that by being held accountable, that you will all inspire me to be better. I'm diligent with exercise (though following activity I do have couch-potato tendencies)... But it's dieting that gets me. I'm a lover of food, and it's preventing me from seeing changes in my body; even though I'm following the super-intense Insanity program.

My honeymoon is coming up in July and I just want to feel lean for the first time in a while! Wish me luck ladies!! XOXO

Stripe – Steady weigh ins are good, keep it up! LOL at running after a Brazilian wax… That does not sound like it would be fun! I’ve thought about getting a bikini wax, but I don’t know if I’m brave enough for the full Brazilian. I think I’d feel awkward around the stylist doing it!

Riestrella
– Good job running even when you didn’t feel like it, sounds like your BF gives good advice. I absolutely LOVE the necklace! I’ve never played Bioshock, but I seriously adore your bling. $14/watermelon? That’s crazy! I bought one on sale this week for $5.99 and I thought that was a bit steep. I guess maybe prices are high because Japan is an island and anything not grown there has to be shipped? I imagine space is probably limited for farming too. How do prices compare to England?

Lauren
– Welcome! Where are you going for your honeymoon? What sort of “diet” are you on?

Well, yesterday was my over 1700 day, and I actually didn’t count calories at all because I went to a bridal shower and foods that I had no idea what the nutritional information was. (That’s ok, my new plan allows for 2 days over 1700, and I still ate my fruits and veggies for the day, so I still count it as an on plan day) I know that I did eat way too many processed sugars and carbs though, because when I got home I felt sick. Not sick to my stomach or food poisoning sick, but dizzy and heady. It did not feel great. I drank a ton of water at the party, and kept drinking it when I got home. I felt better after a few hours; it was like I had a sugar hangover! Yuck. Remind me not to eat like that again! The party itself was really fun though.

This morning’s WI was really good considering my “bad” eating day – 133.0. I also went for my run earlier in the morning, so I got a start on C25K’s week 3 day 1. I was going to take yesterday off and run today, but I just felt like going yesterday. I’m surprised to say that I’m actually enjoying running, and I love seeing progress! I was able to run for the 3 minutes straight no problem. I can’t wait to increase that time! From 60 seconds to 3 minutes might not seem like much, but when you think about it it’s actually 3 times longer. Since I ran yesterday today will be a rest day. I might go out and do some yoga later, but no running.

Have a great day everyone!
