Really bad day :-(
Ive had a really bad day, motivations has vanished! And have the thought that me and weight loss just dnt go. Was just wondering what people do to raise their motivation and how often people have these days? What do you do to het yourself out of these moods?
|
I exercise to get out of these moods! Go for a walk, or just turn the music on and dance - get up and move move move! Think happy thoughts :) :) :)

Sometimes you need a day to wallow in frustration. It happens to most people losing weight I reckon, for me it is about once every six weeks (but I am fairly optimistic). How often you feel like this depends on you as a person, there's no wrong or right. But try not to self medicate with food when you feel down because that will just make your problem worse. Remember that losing weight is a numbers game and if you take in less than 2000 calories a day (whether you achieve that by eating less or exercising more) then you WILL lose weight.
Think of this: there are 31 days in the average month. If you cut out 100 calories a day you will lose about a pound a month! And 200 gets you two pounds, 300 three pounds etc. When you're feeling better then get determined and carry on with your new eating habits. If you set your goals too high that can be demotivational. I was feeling depressed about weight loss today but that's because I was thinking about how much in total I had to lose and trying to calculate the quickest way to lose it. After advice from people on this forum I have realised that (unfortunately) I am better off losing a pound a week and taking 44 weeks to do it than to try and lose two or three pounds a week and make myself depressed and frustrated. A lot of us have mini goals (see my signature). Why don't you make some mini goals and just focus on working towards each mini goal, one by one? I hope you feel better soon. I really do know how you feel, I wish we could wave a magic wand and lose loads of weight in an instant! |
I'm with chickadee2....I may have to push myself harder then I ever have just to get my butt over to the gym on those days...but once I'm there and do my workout...My modivation pops right back up...
I look back at what i've lost and think how awesome it will be just to lose a little more and get that much closer to my goal. I'll think about things I've overcome, such as not being out of breath walking up stairs.... I'll think about what fitness goals I want to reach, and remind myself that i have to work for those, and slacking off won't make me feel better, but worse down the road.... We all feel like this some days....the most important thing is just to keep going... |
I read up on other people's successes to remind myself that we all have bumps in the road, but it is possible to get to our goals as long as we keep moving forward, one step at a time. Push on, tomorrow WILL be better.
Getting outside for a little exercise is a great mood booster too! |
recently, i have become rather obsessed with fitspo tumblrs, and i find that it really helps me to stay in that positive mood. i even started my own, (feel free to check it out! i only have 2 followers, lol) http://kawaiicandieishere.tumblr.com/
basically, most fitspo blogs are just encouraging messages, pictures of hot, fit girls, or delicious healthy foods, and exercise lists. i find that looking at those helps me stay focused on my goal, and it kinda makes me feel bad if i feel like i wanna cheat or skip a day of working out. also, i've been watching old episodes of the Biggest Loser :p I never started watching it until like season 8 so it's like new to me, haha. it really makes me motivated when i don't wanna work out. i'm like "if these 300lbs people can do it, then so can i!!" |
Kawaii: that is SO true! Like when they accidentally eat too much and the trainers are like 'get back in that gym and work it off even if it takes all night!' And they work out for about three hours! It must be **** on their joints as, like you say, they are 300+ pounds. So yeah in fact I'm going to exercise right now!

Kawaii- I love Biggest Loser. Nothing like having Jillian Michaels screaming in your ear to get you going. :D

You and weight loss totally go! What makes you so special that the laws of biology and energy don't apply? ;) When I have a bad day, I try to look back on it and see what went wrong. Maybe I was tired, stressed, didnt plan enough, felt deprived and then over did it, etc. But I also look at what went well- what did you do today that WAS good for you? Did you chose diet soda over regular? Did you choose grilled over fried? A salad? Did eat a piece of fruit? A vegetable? Even the fact that you are looking at what happened is a good thing you are doing today!

Getting in any kind of workout makes me feel 1000 times better. Push yourself to do SOMETHING and you'll instantly feel better :)

Lucy & Namaste: I love Jillian! I am so sad on the seasons that she's not there...

one of the messages that keep popping up on my tumblr is this:
stop comparing yourself to others. you can't expect to lose the same as somebody else, and you can't expect to look the same as somebody else when you reach a certain weight either. the only person you should compare yourself to is yourself. so celebrate each pound down, and be happy with your progress when the scale doesn't move because at least it didn't go up! good luck! |
If that doesn't help, someone told me something a really long time ago that made me look at those weeks where you only lose 1 pound differently. Picture yourself holding a pound of butter in your hand. That's a lot of butter. Imagine sticking that lump of butter somewhere on your body. Lol. Silly, I know, but it helped me to appreciate every pound lost...even when it's just one.

I hope this will help.. I change my point of view about this weight loss goal, i make it to be my way of life, so exercising and healthy eating is part of my daily life, i MUST do it everyday even if i'm lazy as ****..
and to motivate myself : i keep many of before after weight loss pics, and surround myself with positive friends |
