just don't give up!! you will see result in the end!

when you are over 200lbs, it takes a bit longer to see results i think...

just hang in there! if your clothes are loser, it's a good thing! also, i'm sure there are other visible differences, but since it's you and you see yourself in the mirror everyday, you just don't see them... why not take a picture and compare it to one from a few months ago? maybe that would help you see a difference?

good luck!

Try on something in your closet that is just a bit tight fitting. If you don't have anything, go to a thrift store and purchase something you like that's just a little bit tight. Keep it handy, and try it on periodically. You'll notice the difference. It's a great feeling to "shrink" into an outfit!

Hang in there; you're losing! The numbers on the scale don't lie -- whether it's a gain or loss. Be thankful you're posting losses. That's a BIG accomplishment. Visualize four 12-pack cartons of canned soda stacked in the corner of your pantry. That's 20 lbs! Way to go!

You are definitely making progress if the scale is going down and your clothes are getting loose. It's weird the way this weight loss process works. For me, it felt like one day it was not so noticeable and then suddenly overnight there was an obvious change. It also went that way for other people noticing the loss too (although that came somewhat later.). Keep going. You'll get there.

"Maybe your body doesn't know what to do anymore because you're losing so much weight" is what my friend told me when I told her I didn't feel like anything's happening. The change will come. And when it does, prepare to buy a lot of new clothes :D

Loose fitting clothes is a great indicator of change!
But hang in there, you will notice a difference soon!

I have the same "problem" as you, the scale keeps moving (thank God!) but I can't always see it in real life. Then one day, voila, something in a new size fits. I'm not sure if our body rearranges itself internally or something, but it was frustrating in the beginning. Now that I know it will eventually catch itself up, I look forward to it!

I understand this frustration. Someone mentioned it earlier, that you probably won't notice much until you hit less than 200lbs. What you will notice are inches and the way your clothes will feel. You'll more than likely feel it more in your bones before noticing anything on the outside. So, grab yourself a measuring tape and measure your waist every week!

I'm right there with you...I was 265 in the summer and over the last lil bit have lost about 30 pounds, almost and I'll tell you, I can tell in my clothes, but I haven't even dropped a size...how do you lose 30 pounds and not drop a size...I can wear other size 18's by different brands...but not down any, lol...BUT i take my measurements and then i can tell...and so I'm trying to get myself to the point where the scale isn't as important as the measuring tape...not there yet, but someday :).

RachelRawr 12-29-2012 01:38 AM

I know exactly how you feel. I'm right there too. I've lost 30 lbs...but I have no idea where it came from. I'm one pant size down, but I feel like I still look the same. And I have not heard many comments about looking like i've lost weight. We just have to keep going and hope once we get close to the 100s we will notice more.

Babybat 12-29-2012 02:07 AM

you may not see it, but it's there. And will only become more noticeable. :)

I find it takes 20 pounds for me to look really different and that is in onederland. As others have said; when you are in the 200s it is harder to see a difference because of your percentage of loss. I mean I had a friend who was 98 pounds and if she lost four pounds she would look so much skinnier but that is because 4 pounds was about 4% of her body weight. If someone is over 200 pounds then they need to lose more weight to achieve the same percentage loss if you see what I mean. But keep going, the point is you are losing and you CAN'T stop now.

penmage 12-29-2012 08:55 AM

I have the same problem! I've lost 26 pounds to date, and I don't see it when I look at myself. Also since most of my jeans have some stretch in them, I don't notice a huge difference in my clothes either. So every month I take a picture of myself in the mirror (neck down, sans clothing, so I can inspect fat rolls,) and I've been able to see some difference there. It's easier to be objective when I don't feel like I'm looking at, well, ME.

I think your mind gets so used to seeing yourself that when you look in the mirror, your mind sees your face and says "oh, that's me" and fills in what it remembers previously. It just takes awhile for your mind to catch up to the new image that's actually there! (I read this somewhere, I swear...)

Just take heart that you ARE losing weight, and there IS a difference, and you'll see it soon!

sontaikle 12-29-2012 10:58 AM

It seems that it can take a good 10% of your body weight gone before people (and you) start to notice. Also, if you're in the plus sizes it takes more lbs to drop a size. Going from 12/14 to 10/12 took me about twenty pounds. Going from a 2/4 to a 0/2 was around 5 pounds.

That said, it's also REALLY HARD to notice the change in yourself. Even when you start dropping sizes and people comment, you may not see it. Keep taking pictures, measure yourself, etc.
