Thanksgiving Accountability Thread

  • Now that the day has arrived, it's time to take stock after the fact. So after your family gathering and when dinner is done, tell us: did you manage to follow your holiday battle plan or stay within your calorie limits? Did you avoid that second helping of mashed potatoes or the extra-large slice of pumpkin pie?

If you DID persevere, tell us your secret so that we can use it for Christmas!
  • I tried the smaller plate trick and that seemed to work pretty well for me! I made way too many apple wontons - which were pretty low fat and healthy, but not when you eat 3x the recommended amount.
  • I only did one trip for dinner, and I made the dessert so I knew how many calories were in each one, plus I ran a 5k this morning
  • I had three dinners today but the first started at noon so I count that as lunch. I did the small plate trick at lunch. But then I got 2 helpings of pumpkin pie but I didn't all of crust. And then at the next one I had some corn and a little banana pudding. And then finally at the last one we went to Cracker Barrel and I had a grilled cheese, fried okra and a little bit of coleslaw. And then I am pretty sure I had a decent workout Black Friday shopping. And I am pretty sure I am over the holidays. Ok. I am out. I just want to sleep. Foreverrrrr
  • I did really well for my Wednesday night dinner and resisted the many sweets. Thursday I had small portions of turkey, mashed potatoes, a roll with butter and green beans in a cream sauce. I ate a large salad. I just drank water. BUT my downfall was that I had a slice of apple pie, a tiny portion of a peach pie and two brownies. Not the worst Thanksgiving I had but I was hoping to have just one.

Oh well, I'll get back on track today.
  • I ran a mile before breakfast and again before dinner. I waited to be the last person in line and even though I had okayed myself to eat Mac and cheese, it was gone once I got there. I managed to stay within my normal points and only used 10 of my bonus weeklies. Today's been more difficult, on a roadie and not being super strict on myself.
