How Many Days Do You Aim To Exercise A Week

Hi Everyone!
I always aim to exercise 6 days a week for 50-60mins, one of those days being an "easy" day in between to let my body recoup a little. However, I usually end up only doing it 5 days a week and I always feel guilty for some reason. I know that 5 days a week is still very good but I tend to feel like I have somehow cheated. Its a little disheartening to look back at the week and feel that way, I think I need to rewire my brain.

I am trying to get some perspective, okay, okay, I am trying to make myself feel a little better :p so would you please share how often a week do you work out?

5X a week for a hour...do not feel bad! Five days a week is a lot...and you should feel proud...i think id give up on exercisng if i didnt have my two days off. lol

5 days a week for 60-75 minutes depending on the day. My husband and I go to a bible class on Wednesday nights so the gym is out and I rest on Sundays. :)

i have a plan for six days out of the week (3 lifting/3 cardio) but i let myself have a free pass for one of those days. that way, every day it's something i actively "choose" to do and not something i'm forced to do and start to resent. this also ensures that i don't guilt myself on the days that i'm just too busy or too worn out.

My goal is 6x a week (for 1 hour) and I usually reach that but after looking at my exercise accountability for october, I noticed I've been only getting around 3x a week in. A lot has been going on with me emotionally this month.

I wear a fitbit 24/7 (only off when I shower) and I aim to get to 10,000 steps everyday. I don't always make it and I don't freak out when I don't get there. Last time I checked my fitbit stats the average was about 8800 steps a day for this month. That's around 4 miles a day and I can deal with that.

I try to workout 7 days a week for 2 hours. However, lately. I been working out 5 days a week for 2 hours.

I aim for 6. If I miss a day, I make up for it the next day. I just joined a website called stickk and committed to 6 days a week. Otherwise I may stop at 5 or push too hard and do 7 lol.

Depends on the time of year...I know, that's weird, but my husband and I (and friends) do triathlons. So, during the off season I focus more on building muscle and improving my run time - on average we do 5 days a week for 45-60 minutes. During our actual tri season when we are training for a specific tri we do 6 days a week for 60-120 minutes or more at a time.

I'll be the odd person out (and hopefully make the OP feel better) and admit that I've tried a lot of exercise plans in my life, and I really can't sustain more than 3 days a week of what I call "hard" exercise (that is, something where I have to change my clothes before and shower after). Usually it's in the 20-40 minute range, but I don't really keep track.

I've been trying to establish some sort of strength routine for alternate days, but it will still conform to my hard workouts rule; it'll be something I do in whatever I'm wearing and don't need to shower after.

I try to get in at least 4 days a week, sometimes 5-6. I alternate 2-3 mile walks/jogs with body weight resistance strength training. I must prefer the strength training but I'm so weak right now everythings difficult and I HAVE to have the cardio as the blood circulation makes my legs feel better the day after (and I can barely walk :P).

Even though 4-6 days is my goal, it greatly depends on how much I have going on at work/school, whether I have a big photography project due or a test. Plus, I may have to cut out work out time if my husband has something important for school and I have to watch the kid and get them down to bed. Goals are great but life rarely goes as planned! :D

I would be careful that you don't burn yourself out. And that you're eating enough for that much exercise. You definitely need at least one rest day a week

I go to the gym 5 days a week, for an hour. Sometimes if it's nice out I'll go for an easy run on Saturdays

I have not really committed to my exercise routine again, but when I do, the plan is 5 days a week 40min-hour of Cardio with mixed in strength, weekends, walks with the kids or a little bit on the elliptical.

My days are packed as I work full time and commute 1hr - 1.5 hrs each way. So my schedule is pretty strict during the week. I run for cardio M - F early mornings for 30 minutes approximately. Then I do 30 - 45 minutes of strength training with resistance bands, planking and push ups 3x a week in the evening before dinner. Saturday is my "do something fun" day so I'll run a different more scenic route I don't have time to get to on a weekday or I'll take my dogs for a really long leasurely walk. Swimming, skating, and biking are also pretty fun. The exercise I do on Saturdays is the stuff I "want" to do and do it because I enjoy myself. I don't go over the top pushing myself and make sure I'm only exercising as long as I want to. Sundays are usually my rest day unless I have plans with a friend, then I bike 6 miles to her house because there's no parking in her neighbourhood!

My routine is crazy and I firmly believe I'm at my maximum for now. I can't imagine trying to add more to it and I am quite happy to maintain this for now. I understand what you mean by feeling guilty. The past 2 weeks I've only done 2x a week for strength training and I've been feeling pretty down about it. Then I think about it and realize, you gotta put it into perspective. 2x a week is still better than 0x a week so why am I feeling guilty?

Last year, I used to work out 6 days a week for 60-90 minutes each time either running, aerobic step or kickboxing. :sighs: Those were the days! I didn't really lose or gain anything because my diet was not in check (possibly because I was working out so much and maybe not building enough calories in which led to overeating) but I got really fit.

Now, I aim to get in 3 days of exercise a week at about 70-80 minutes each time but many times, I only manage 1 or 2 days a week so I need to do better with that. I'm losing again albeit slowly and I feel like I have a little more time to do other things. So for now, 3 days a week may be my sweet spot.
