From my experience, on my days off usually I'll have anywhere between 8-10 shots of vodka, I wouldn't call it "binge drinking" because I don't do it to get piss drunk or black out. Usually that is consumed withing 6-7 hours and it just keeps me at a good buzz
Anyways
My problem is not so much the alcohol calories but once I'm pretty "happy" it's the urge to go get some pizza! Like I won't even be hungry and just cause it "sounds good." so yeah if I give in then the morning after usually I'll see a 1-2 pound gain but if I stop myself or just have something small 4 out of 5 times I'll see a drop in the scale, yeah yeah I know the booze dehydrates so it's mostly water weight but if I watch what I eat it usually doesn't come back. Idk of that's just me but I've read other members answer questions like these who also see drops the next morning

I still drink. Not as much as I used too, but I still do. When I drink, I am careful about what I choose to drink and try to go for vodka with a no calorie or a very low calorie mixer. No 300 calorie drinks for me! If I know I'm drinking, I eat super healthy the rest of the day. I try not to eat above what I planned, but if I feel the need to eat due to the alcohol, I make sure I have healthy snacks.

This weekend, I was "bad" and drank twice. I actually lost 4.2 lbs this week (my highest weight loss in a really long time). I figured in the drinks I planned to have and instead of having a cheat meal, I had some cheat drinks. It worked out great. I live completely by the 80/20 rule. I eat healthy 80% of the time, and 20% I indulge in whatever I decide is worth the calories. Everything in moderation, in my opinion. I have lost 45 lbs this way and am continuously losing 5 lbs a month. I don't feel deprived of anything.

I respect the people who can completely give up something. However, that is how I've failed in the past. I gave up all the foods I loved and alcohol and ended up completely falling off the wagon and gaining back everything I lost plus more. This time, I am working on a more sustainable life style change. This means figuring in the things I love and getting drunk with my husband and friends on the week is definitely a part of that.

:EDIT: I should have mentioned, my husband drinks about 6 times a week. Which yes, super unhealthy. I've tried convincing him not, too. He works a very physical job, so when he gets home from work and is in pain, he wants a drink or two. He has lost 60 lbs since February and never gave up his alcohol. This definitely doesn't work for me since if I drank that much I'd feel like crap. However, he is definitely a testimony that if you watch what you eat and figure in the drinks, you can still do it. He pretty much always makes his own drinks though, so he always knows exactly how many calories is in each drink and figures it into his day.

I struggle with this too! Thank goodness im not the only one. Lately because of school and work, I like to blow off steam and hang out with friends and co workers. Well pretty much everyone I know drinks when we are all together. I do enjoy drinking but I never felt like I need it. Unfortunately, its not just the night that affects me when I drink (the infamous late-night meals). Its also the day after. Being depleted from a night of little sleep, too many drinks and not enough water, leads my body to go ballistic for foods like pizza and soda. So I decided it i EVER want to meet my goal weight, I think i should leave the drinking to a bare minimum. Thats just how I react. Plus I read somewhere that alcohol inhibits weight loss?
