What is your most used excuse to not exercise?

Stolen from the 100 club.

Here's some of mine:

- as long as I don't eat a lot I'll still have a calorie deficit today
- I will go tomorrow for sure!
- it's such a hassle to go all the way out there
- tomorrow's a weigh in and I'll show a gain from water retention!
- I walked a lot today

The list goes on!

- I've already worked out too much. I'll get too tired and then I'll get sick.
- My husband gets home late from work and doesn't go, so I don't.

My main one is "I just don't feel like it today"

But some others are... "I just don't have the time today" or a variation on that theme... "I'm just to busy today" or "I've got to do such and such instead..." I mean, we all know how that goes right? And even when I have the best intentions it always seems like something comes up and gets in the way...

I would really like to start getting up earlier and try to get a work out in before my day just completely goes off the rails... Like it seems to so often do... That way it's over and done with and out of the way... My biggest problem is that I truly love going for a run in the late afternoon or early evening, because it always seems to just completely melt away the stress of my day and get in some much needed "ME" time....

I guess I better get on those running shoes and get out there before God only knows what happens...

"It's too late!"
"I'm too tired and I still have homework to do..."

^ Are the ones I use most often.

My biggest one is "Its been such a long day at work". Or "I've just eaten, and I cannot go out immediately".

Then it just never happens.

Great thread, Katbot!!

Mine:
--Wake up nice and early, say to self, "Hm, I'll go later." ZZZZZZ
--Later, it's "I'll do it first thing tomorrow",
--Then next day it's "I'll go later" :D and on and on!

I'll second the "It's too late."

...my apartment is tiny and has super thin walls (like, if I leave the light on in my bedroom, you can see the glow from it through the wall in the bathroom). If I lose track of time and it gets to be past 9 pm, anything I do in my apartment is going to disturb the neighbors...so I end up riding my bike around instead. If I'm planning to ride my bike, it's generally "It's raining..." Because it does that. Often. And usually not in a vertical fashion. When there's a torrential downpour and I want to ride my bike, I have a nasty habit of sulking instead of doing my videos though.

I use mostly all of these excuses! BUT, I've gotten much better at ignoring the "I don't want to" voice and just doing it anyway. ;)

"I'm tired" Which I really am after working in Dental all day. More times than not I ignore and get it done so I can't beat myself up too much.

No, I won't work out in the AM so don't even suggest it.

Oops, I'm a 30-something! *runs away

My most frequent excuse is that it will be hard and then I'll be discouraged. I worry about being sore because I haven't exercised in so long. I also have a tendency to tell myself it's not worth it because I'm so slow. Oh, and "I've already showered." Love that one.

Colliea21 09-06-2012 09:45 PM

"I am very hungry now, I'll go after I eat"
after eating: "I'm too full now, I will go in a few hours"
in a few hours..."I'd better go tomorrow, it's too late now"

Oh well..

Candeka 09-06-2012 09:47 PM

"It's already late, Ill just go to bed early and wake up super early and do it then!"

Then morning comes, sleepy me says I have all day to exercise so I end up not doing.

Repeat.

"All right, I'm going to go at 2...I'm really enjoying my book, I'll make it 3...I need to start dinner, I'll go after that...I just want to watch the episode, but after that...Well, now it's getting dark, so I'll go tomorrow."

mamamiaa 09-07-2012 12:22 AM

I love the "I've already showered" because I say that too!
Mine is I'm too tired or there isn't enough time to be worth it.

They seem like pretty pathetic excuses when I write them down
