Everyone thinks I'm older than I am, but I'm not sure it's really about my weight as much as my style/personality. My sister is four years older than me and about 20lbs heavier, but most strangers think I'm the older one. I suspect it has more to do with how we carry ourselves than our respective weights. Just my experience

Omg yes! I get this alllll the time! It's so upsetting! One of my good friends insists everytime we meet someone new in going she's (me) younger than me! Can you believe she's younger than me I mean really can you?" I had to explain to her it really hurts my feelings! I've been told I could pass for almost 30 (I'm 21!!!) it makes me so depressed and insecure about hanging out with friends and my boyfriend in public incase people are thinking who's that old maid hanging around with the young ones, silver lining is all the woman in my family look young so I'm hoping when I drop the weight I will to! Fingers crossed x

I don't think it's anything to do with my weight, more my height but a lot of people think I'm a lot younger than I am.

I remember one time going to visit my dad in hospital and I was nearly 18 at the time. When we had left, the man beside him had mentioned my brothers and myself and my dad had mentioned I was nearly 18. The man said he would have said I was only around 13 or 14.

A couple of weeks ago, I was going somewhere and got chatting to this woman on the way who was going the same place. She was talking about her daughter graduating secondary school that weekend and asked me something about my graduation the previous year. I said I graduated four years ago and she was in utter shock when she worked it out I was 21. Then she went on to say how her 14 year old at home looked older than me.

I'm sure if I mentioned I was going into my 4th year of college a lot of people wouldn't believe me and think I was only in my 1st or 2nd year of secondary school. I have a friend who is 19 and she could pass for a 24/25 year old. An awful lot of people think she is when they first meet her. Another friend, when she was 14, she could pass for an 18/19 year old.

I get a good laugh out of it though! And don't take it in any way personally.

Yes! Always. People always ask me if I have kids, too. I guess the way my weight is placed it looks like baby weight. (Which is silly, because I have PCOS so I probably won't even be able to have children if I chose to). But yes. People always think I'm closer to 30 than 20, even though I'm right in the middle at 25.

That sucks. You will look younger as you slim down. It really bugs me that people think I'm my sister's mother, I must admit. I too feel insecure about it but I'm starting to get over it. Slowly.

I always get ID'd- if I'm buying alcohol, entering a club, even for buying nail varnish remover once! All my friends will go through fine, no questions asked but I always get ID'd. I'm 21 (the drinking age here is 18, the age for buying nail varnish remover is 16 FFS!)
When I was a young teen/child however people always thought I was older than I am..

I don't fully understand why people think I'm younger than I am.. I'm a DD cup and I'm 5ft9... I don't know what it is about me that says I'm younger than I am. I find it frustrating tbh.. it's embarrassing and annoying being ID'd all the time.

I think it ages you when you're young, but makes you look younger when you're older. Once you're at the age where you start to get wrinkles, fat in your face keeps it mostly filled out.

Since I've lost weight I feel like I look older...like the skin hangs a bit. BUT people tell me I look younger. I guess I'm not used to seeing a more narrow face. I always thought I had a round face, but now I feel like my face is too long. I must have had a giant head when I was obese. x_x

I always get carded for alcohol now (didn't when I was obese) and I even got carded for a video game last Christmas.

Maybe I just feel like my face is drawn now because I'm looking for new flaws to worry about.

I usually get younger, but I feel like it's catching up to me. One thing I've realized is that younger does not mean pretty or prettier. I know someone who deliberately does things so that people will think that she is younger (like not wearing make-up, choosing to wear a particular style of glasses, not fixing her hair, and wearing t-shirts all the time). Anytime anyone is surprised by her age she runs around telling everyone about how another person has said how young she looks. After I met her I realized how much of a goof I'd been for thinking that it was so much of compliment when people said it to me.

Always been thought of as older... NOT good!! I remember being 12 or 13 and people thinking I was 18 years old
I find it depends on my weight at the time and how I am dressed, too.
A few years back I was refused entrance to the casino because they thought I was under 18 (I think I was 25)... but I was shocked because usually people think I am much older than I am.
I hope that with weight loss and taking care of myself better/dressing better I can look my age one day and NOT a decade older.
