Experiences with upping calories?

  • Even though I can't calorie count daily because it triggers unhealthy behaviors in me, when I start having a problem either in my diet or my weight loss or my exercise I sit down and do some calculations. Turns out since I started working out 6 days a week I have been under eating by hundreds of calories, despite almost never being hungry. Well, I was probably a little under calories before that as well.

So I upped my calories. I "gained" 2lbs the next day. I know I didn't actually gain 2 REAL pounds but I'd like to know how long other people's bodies went nuts after upping their calories. Will I see fluctuations like this for the first couple of days? First week? Two weeks?

What are people's experiences with upping calories?
  • When I up calories I gain weight. Unwanted weight.
  • when i upped my calories my body was in a funk for about a week or so, but then it starting adjusting & getting back to normal (: stick it out for about 2 weeks or so, & if its still not adjusting & whatnot, then you can try to change it again.
  • I was eating 1200-1500 calories when I was losing weight. At 125 I went up to 1600-1800, thinking I would need that to maintain.

I started losing faster after the initial gain on the scale from the extra food in my system.
