Angry :( peanut meltdown!

I have not ate much today cause Im not at home, and I got a new job so I treated myself to a pepsi, other than the one pepsi I have been doing very well on a strict healthy plan. But I munnched down on some peanuts thinking they were good for me then I decided to look them up! One cup of shelled peanuts = 800+ calories I feel so bad that took up the rest of my calories for the day, I didnt eat a whole cup I dont think we were snacking out of a big bowl . from now on I look at calories before I eat anything which I normally do.

I agree Don't be so hard on yourselves. Yes, peanuts ARE good for you. Contains loads of healthy fats but a whole cup might be just a bit too much.

This is a journey and we learn stuff. Hey, I used to eat loads of dried fruit, never even realising how much sugar it has.

Eat your peanuts just a tad bit less.

I'm terrible with peanuts so now I buy small packs like they serve on airplanes. It stops me from overeating when I feel like a snack.

Usually my nut of choice is almonds though as I don't feel like I need to have more when I eat them. Peanuts are just so hard to stop popping!

It stinks that peanuts are so calorie-dense, I'd like to eat a lot more of them than my calorie allowance lets me! But oh well, there's a learning curve to getting healthy so don't worry about it, and now you know for next time!

Peanuts are good for you! At least it was 800 healthy calories!

At least you learned something from all of this and don't let it totally derail you!

Its OK, many of us are "nut victims." In fact, a lot of diet sites talk about nuts because while they are healthy, it is very hard to put them down, and eating healthy food and eating at a calorie deficit does not always go hand in hand (although ideally I would like to do both). I just count my nuts if I eat any because a small handful for me is easily like 20 and I would think it was 10. On the plus side, at least you caught yourself!

Cashews! I don't let a jar of cashews cross my threshold. I have had issues with the peanut butter and 1 tablespoon is 100 calories. Who eats one tablespoon? It's more like one, two, three... five? spoonfuls right out of the jar. So long as I don't get started I can avoid the PB though, just not those darn cashews!

Maybe I misunderstood you, but there's no way a cup of shelled peanuts are 800 calories. I'm assuming you're not eating the shell. Maybe double-check?

Also, as others have said, no reason to be hard on yourself.

I feel your pain! I used to eat a 100g back of peanuts knowing how bad they are calorie-wise because I love them so much! Now I've gotten to a place where I can take a 15g handful, enjoy them and still be on track for calories. That may never be the case for you–I have other trigger foods I can't keep in the house because I will eat ALL of it–but at least you know now!

Stick to almonds. They're awesome and the best nut for you.

ShapedSelf---

"shelled peanuts" means without the shell, as in, already been *shelled* for you
