Anyone else get bloated after eating whole wheat bread?

  • I read it online "eat whole wheat bread to reduce bloat" but I swear, I go waaay up in the scale when I eat whole wheat. This doesn't happen if I'm eating protein or veg...
  • My Df bloats when eating anything with wheat, but mosty from whole wheat bread. It makes him hold onto water, making him feel puffy. he also gets a little stomach ache and sometimes digestion issues and gas.
Turns out he has a little intolerance to Gluten (not an allergy as far as we can tell)
so the best thing he can do is stay away from things made with wheat, but bread and pasta mostly. which he hates because he LOVES bread...but cutting it out slimmed him down pretty good. and he felt so much better.

Not saing you have an allergy, or an intolerance, but you might want to look into it. Does the same thing happpen with whole wheat pasta? regular white bread?
  • ANY BREAD PRODUTS and no I don't have a gluten issue just break out in fat and bloat with any bread type products BUT I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!

    SAME!! I don't get it...no gluten allergy and I am a balloon.
Literally, I am as round as the green ball I just posted.
  • If you aren't used to eating carbs, your body is storing the carbs as glycogen in your liver as your glycogen tores are probably depleted. I gained 14 pounds in a 17 days during the holidays when I went from eating almost no simple carbs to eating a lot and all that weight (most) went to my gut. It was amazing how that happened. 9 of those pounds came off very quickly. Thre rest must have been fat from eating too much overer the curse of 3 weeks. It was all that water weight from the carbs.
  • I find that if I eat too many bread products that I sometimes retain water. It usually goes away the next day.

I try to limit myself to one bread item a day. Usually it's the bread part of my wrap.
  • i have no allergies to breads. But i bloat like crazy if i have any breads.
  • I'm not gluten intolerant but I bloat when I eat bread too, so I have nearly cut it out of my diet completely (and I feel so much better for it!).
