PCOS and worried....
 

I was diagnosed with PCOS 2-3 years ago, which didn't affect me mentally then as much as it does now. I am getting married in September and wish to start trying for children very soon after. I am so terrified that because of the PCOS I won't be able to get pregnant naturally (which I prefer to do over fertility treatments!). I am hoping losing all this weight (was 235 when I was diagnosed, now am 203 and counting- goal of 150 by September) will help but I do not have my hopes up :(

I do not take any medication for my PCOS, have no problems with my sugars or anything.

Have any of you had experience with this, or have any of you 'gotten rid' of your PCOS- if that's even possible?? :?:

No cure but it can be managed.

Go see an endoc to be sure you are ok, then go ahead and think about charting. I used www.tcoyf.com.

I have PCOS, and conceived my kid within a year of trying (I thought it would take longer) and it turned out ok even though I never got better than 60 day cycles. The main thing was to track ovulation and catch that window. I was on Metformin to help with the cycles at the time and I was 220 lbs. For me regular 60 days cycles was a miracle!

Don't lose heart -- lots of PCOS women have kids.

Pecos is not something you can 'get rid of', but there are ways to reduce symptoms and help fertility. Astrophe is right about the endroconologist. My sister also has pcos, though she is less symptomatic than me and thus was later diagnosed, but she now has a beautiful little two year old without the aid of fertility drugs. It is possible to conceive naturally with pcos; it may just take more patience and work. Follow your doctor's orders, and you're already on a good track with deciding to lose weight. It is the best thing that we can do to help treat our bodies.

It's such a frustrating and sometimes confusing disorder. I remember I was so scared when they first explained the problems I'll have with fertility (I was 15), but I know now that it's not an absolute definite andd that there's plenty of hope.
