why isnt it happening?

hey guys need some advice!
my mum has been doing ww for two weeks sticking to the points, drinking plenty and upping her cadio exercise as she is training for a 10k. however she has weighed herself today and only had a two lbs weight loss. she is 158lbs and 5 ft. something seems to not be working and would love it if you guys have any advice on how to change it up to maximise weight loss.
thanks!! :?:

How is it not working? Two pounds seems just fine. That's a pound a week, which is not great but okay, especially if she's a little older (slower metabolism). Sustainable weight-loss is pretty slow, so it can be frustrating. I'd advise her to just keep doing what she's doing and let it happen.

thanks! yeah i have said to her that the weight loss is good and consistent but i think she expected more that its a little frustrating :)
i did say that maybe she should mix things up a little bit like having vary points days. i was hoping that when other people were saying that its a good weight loss she would listen cause she thinks im saying it just make her feel better :D
thanks x

2lbs is really great.

Does your mom watch shows like the Biggest Loser? The weight loses on there are unrealistic. Losing 1lb per week is a very good rate of loss.

If your mom was, say, starting 100lbs heavier than she is now she might have some recourse in expecting bigger loses, but even then 1lb per week is great.

she does watch the shows but she knows that those are crazy amounts to loose, i think its because she weighed herself last week and had lost three pounds and then weighed herself today and it only showed she had lost a total of 2 lbs in two weeks and she doesnt understand why she then put one pound on.
i think she just a bit frustrated because she doesnt feel her weight loss and subsequent gain mirror the efforts she put in. ive told her to not give up!

ive also been doing the same programme and lost lots more weight however i dont exercise as much as my mum does so i dont think can help but compare i know i would if the roles were reversed! haha

Remind your mom that a pound a week equals 52 pounds a year. Sometimes that helps keep perspective!

thanks everyone! i will give her all your advice xx

If she's training for a 10k then she probably needs to eat more healthy food to fuel her body for all the exercise she's doing. People think it's crazy, but your body can be described as fire - the more exercise you do you need to eat more to keep the fire burning so it doesn't burn out. I'm 5'5" and I should be eating 2000 calories if I'm working out 6 times a week split up into 5 meals. However I eat around 1700 in 3 meals since I don't have the time to eat 5!

2 lbs is still really good, I lose 1 lb a week on average with the occasional 2 lb drop a week - but persistence is key =)
