fresh start

Well I'm here because I'm looking to start a new weight loss journey/healthier eating. I am a full time nanny for my one year old god son and joining a gym right now isn't really an option so I'm trying to find a work out routine I can do in or around the house other than, walking or running which I plan on doing so any tips or suggestions would be awesome.

I used to do exercise videos all the time. I still ocassionally do some on VHS, DVD, and on youtube. I also use the resistance band, also if you have books for workouts they provide a detailed descriptions and some have plans to follow. I hope you find something that works. Also, playing dance dance revolution or other dance video games helps with cardio.

WELCOME...I am an at-home exercised and LOVE Walk Away The Pounds. Tae Bo Cardio isn't bad either.

Welcome! I would suggest Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred for absolute beginners, it's a 30 day programme that will make you sweat and tone you up. If you're looking for a big more of a challenge afterwards or even now, try Shaun T's Insanity programme. The Insanity programme also comes with a nutrition guide that really opened my eyes to good nutrition - not dieting advice but nutrition advice I will follow for the rest of my life.

Join up to some of the challenges here, get some support and you'll go far!

Hi. Try doing things that are fun. Play with the kid outside or dance. Just moving will get your heart pumping. What part of Louisiana are u from?

missheatherlee 12-01-2011 11:51 PM

Lol we dance all the time actually and I'm from central Louisiana.

I say exercise videos or take up bicycling, something different from jogging or walking. Also, do some strength training. Invest in some weights and do arm exercises. Ab exercises as well, you can look some up on youtube. It may sound crazy, but if you have enough money to invest in a wii, do it. You can get some great workouts in from there.

I'm thinking about getting the 30 day shred dvd and maybe a yoga dcs. I see a lot of people talking about 30 day on here. Is it worth it?

Im from southern LA. Dancing is good.

I love exercise videos! I was (and still am, to a degree) too embarrassed to exercise around others plus I'm a broke college student so I began with old Richard Simmons and Tae Bo tapes at home. I can laugh, sing, dance, and be silly all I want. I can take water breaks if I need, without worrying over sticking to a schedule. Otherwise, I enjoy brisk walks in the morning. Once the snow sticks, I'll be on my own with the tapes though!

I just bought the 30 day shred dcs and I'm gonna start it tomorrow. I've heard lots of good things, but have any of yall tried it?

I'd suggest fitness DVDs, hula hooping, trying to walk more around the house (to hit 10k) or just dancing. Lately, I've been committing to 30 minutes hooping sessions and body weight strength training session (ie plank, wall pushups, crunches, squats, etc) three times a week.

I haven't because I have major knee issues.
