Which exercise programs have you guys done?
I am looking for a workout that I can follow that gets results...which ones have you guys tried?

What worked and what didn't so I can stay away from that?

This is one of those routines that adapts and grows as you get stronger and if you stick to it (starting it up can be yucky depending on your personal strength level) you will improve at it.

Part of what I like about it is the stretching sequence because most people I know (myself included) don't stretch enough. Since there is no special equipment, your reps grow as you get stronger.

When I first started it I could only get through one loop of the exercises with low reps on everything. Now I do 3 cycles and much greater reps on all of them.

For some reason I have trouble doing this one in the AM and often do it at the end of the day (easily in front of the TV or to music).

I really can't afford or much care for classes so I tend to do what I can on my own.

While I was losing my bulk weight, I was doing cardio. That was it. My body did not look the way I thought it would though! So, I got my butt in gear and did the BeachBody Insanity workout. That was all well and good, but I still didn't have the body I wanted. So, I did some research and found an awesome strenght training routine that knocked my body into awesome shape. My legs, arms, butt, stomach.....Everything. I swear by this routine.....when you have more muscle, you burn more by doing nothing.

I did Jillian Michaels workout dvds and a lot of running! I think it's really important to get that balance between cardio and weight training and I think her dvds are really effective.

Now I do CrossFit but I wouldn't recommend that for weight loss (even though I love it). It's all about getting really fit and gaining muscle...you'll definitely look leaner but depending on how small you are already weight loss is not a guarantee.

Crossfit looks too intense for me

maybe a dvd could work, is there anything that's a step by step guide?

Most dvds give you some instruction on how to do the workouts. I recommend Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones as a beginner dvd. It's not as intense as some of her shorter workouts (it's longer, about 45 minutes) and the movements are more basic. You can work up to doing the whole thing as well.

Her shorter dvds using more complex movements and are higher intensity.

But for weight loss: cardio, cardio, cardio. You can overtrain with weights but you can do all kinds of different cardio to accelerate fat loss.

I started out doing Jillian Michaels DVDs - I did 30 Day Shred but I really liked No More Trouble Zones.

Then I did Couch-to-5k (over a longer time period than the plan lays out) and some light-weights lifting routines from the book 101 Ways to Work Out with Weights.

Now I'm following the New Rules of Lifting for Women and doing intervals on the treadmill or erg on some of my non-lifting days.

I had to work up to this level but I'm definitely happiest with my routine now.
