Mourning my old clothes...
 

So today I'm undertaking the task of packing up all of my size 18-20 plus size spring and summer clothes. I'm kind of sad. I have a ton of cute stuff that was only worn a handful of times. Even though I'm a big girl I've always dressed well and I have a lot of quality clothes that I'm parting with. Lots of mixed emotions and I'm overwhelmed that next spring I will have to start all over again and buy clothes that fit. Does anyone else feel this way?

I just started my diet today. I was thinking about that earlier. How sad it will be to get rid of my favorite clothes but i know in the end i will be happier.

Heck, No ! I hated my fat clothes. The way I shopped was to go to the "Fat Ladies Shop" and first find something that might fit, second consideration was "Can I afford it?" and If I happened to like it that was a huge bonus. PS I rarely liked anything, because apparently whoever designs for large sizes apparently hates women because most clothes are UGLY ! I was quite happy to get out of them and shop in normal stores where there is much more choice on what to buy.

ya , i'm still upset about it. but it's kind of sad that i'm a size M, and i still have L and XL clothes kicking around.


on the bright side, cute little clothes are VERY cheap. even the quality ones, because that was my problem as well, i've always dressed well and have fine clothing, even when i was a plus-size girl.

I love shopping and I can finally buy the styles I used to envy on other girls - but I look at some of the expensive dresses in my closet and think what a waste! I suppose I should see if I can get them altered.

Nope! I was thrilled to give away clothes from my highest weight! :D

That being said I have a few things in size 14 (like a pair of Levi's that I really loved) that I'm sad that they're too big but I found a pair in my size on sale, so I can't wait to wear those instead. ;) I did actually have on suit taken in because alterations here are incredibly cheap so it was cheaper to bring in the suit vs. buying a new one.

My biggest problem at the moment is that I don't have replacement clothes because I can't find tops that fit. I've ordered some but won't get them for another couple of weeks. :(

Hi...I have been throwing away the old clothes, with pleasure!!! Trying to make it no way back. I do understand what you are saying, though.

I'm having the same problem as I can now fit some 16Ws. I have to let go of my 20-24Ws. I am now trying to find 18Ws and 16Ws that fit. However, I bought the cutest size 18W skirt last week. Tried it on today, and it's starting to look dumpy. It's a good problem to have but it is really expensive...especially when I have to look for business wear.

Truthfully, though...I'm kind of scared to throw away my 22s-24s. I guess I don't trust myself. Anyone else feel this way? I know it's not healthy.

I sold ALL my size 15 jeans on ebay recently lol. They have a new home and I had cash in my pocket! I wasn't sad at all and honestly I thought it was best to get them out of the house and out of site so I could never go back to wearing them again!

how did you sell your clothes on ebay? item by item?

No, I sold them as a lot. It was 4 pairs of jeans and 1 pair of shorts. I just stated where they were from and the brand so that if people normally buy Vigoss from Kohl's they'll know how the jeans will fit. I did them as a buy it now and they sold on the first day I posted them!

I know that feeling. I am very quick with throwing too big clothes out though. I don't want to have anything around that would make it easy to gain again. I have kept a few (very few) pieces that "have a story" but they are all stowed in a suitcase far away from my closet. They are here to stay for other reasons. My closet contains only what fits now. Expensive to replace everything over and over but very motivating and I believe necessary.

If you don't want to part with them, have you thought about having them taken in by a seamstress? That way, you can get more wear out of them for less $ than buying them in a smaller size.
