First date tomorrow
 

After the success of a close friend of mine, I decided to join a dating site. I split up with my BF a couple of months ago (I broke up with him) and figured I was ready to hit the dating scene for pretty much the first time in my life.

I really wasn't expecting much, but I saw one guy's profile and it totally caught my eye, so I messaged him. We ended up hitting it off fairly well, and have been talking for about 3 weeks now online, and on the phone. We talked for 4 hours on the phone the other night!

Well tomorrow is our first date, and I'm SO NERVOUS. It's ridiculous. I'm partly scared he won't like what he sees (I was honest about my body type on my profile though, and posted a full body picture), and partly scared that my personality won't be good enough. I've also always dated guys in the past a bit below my level... guys that were "safe", because I had low self esteem. Now I'm more on my level, and don't know what to expect. And I realllllly like him so I don't want to blow it!

I guess I needed to vent a little. I've been on a 3FC hiatus for a while but nobody in my life understands the insecurity stuff because none of them have had weight issues before really. Thanks for any advice girls. :)

Good luck on your date tomorrow and remember you are perfectly fine the way you are. If you are comfortable with you then he will be comfortable with you. Everything starts with you. You got this girl!!!!! :)

Good Luck! Internet dating can be scary, just be yourself and be confident..and wear an outfit that makes you feel cute. I'm sure he's just as nervous.

Good luck! I have the same problem with dating. I'm 50 lbs lighter than i used to be and i still have a hard time with really attractive, thin men. My mind-set is of the 230 lb girl i was.

Thanks girls!! I'll try to remember to post tomorrow night about it went. And I'll be careful! I've told a few people where I'll be and at what time, and have certain times where I'm going to text them to let them know everything is OK. :)

I was/am in a very similar situation...so I totally understand the nervousness that maybe they didn't get a good sense of how we look from the site, despite a full length photo. I almost feel like I should say "You do know I'm fat, right?". But ya know what? Men have eyes. They obviously like what they are seeing!

I got home late last night and was too tired to come on. So last night could not have gone any more perfect. We went to the movies, and cracked jokes the entire time cos the movie was reaaally bad (well more him, he's really funny! I chimed in when I had something to add.) Then we went to a park and laid under the stars and talked. Aaaaand he kissed me. jgjdskgjdkghjdskjgds.

I mentioned my weight to him a couple days ago and he said last night "Yeah, about that, you're perfect." :) Yay!

I'm a few days behind...But still wanted to say yay for you :) Glad you had such a great time! And that yes, dating sites can work! My husband and I met on one and have been together for 6 and a half years now....Married for 6 months this coming Sunday and couldn't be happier together!
