Unhappy Help!! I eat when I'm bored. and I've been bored ALL day.

EEe. I work a desk job. (making excuses) and I have a stash of 100 calorie snacks that usually fill me up. I have drank around 100 oz of water today. and 1) I'm over water. Give me a freakin dr pepper stat! (uggggh trying to cut back btw) 2) I have eaten 2 of those damn snacky thingys and .. cough this morning I stopped for a bacon egg cheese bagel no egg from mcdonalds! I'm weigh over on my calories/points/whatever I feel like counting today. I'm not letting it stop me.. I mean I'm not feeling like I should just give up and order a large pizza (mmm) but I need some help. I have been eating crappy alllll day because I'm bored. I need tips on food that fill you up. I know fruits and veggies will help. but I will be honest. It's so hard for me to buy fresh produce because 1) I'm the only one in my house who eats it and 2) it goes bad faster than I can eat it. I'm going to try to force myself to do the elliptical tonight but I'm sore from working out yesterday. What can I do?

Almonds (a handful), and fruits are what I keep at my desk. Keeping 100cal packs is asking for a gain. It's okay in moderation but snacking on those all day, that adds up. I ONLY keep those at home and on TOP of the fridge, high out of my reach so my bf can get one down for me for dessert after dinner lol IF I worked out.

At my desk, I keep almonds, fruit (i bring in two apples or two bananas every two days). And every morning I also prepare 2 slices of light whole wheat bread with organic peanut butter, place em in a baggie and bring those for an afternoon snack. Full of protein and whole grain so it is good for me and fills me up!

I love berries. They are delicious, and they come in small enough packages that they never go bad. Bananas don't usually go bad if you eat one a day.

I've found that moo-tubes/go-gurt/whatever embarrassing name they've given portable yogurt tubes...make great 'on the go' snacks. 70-90 calories. Throw one in your purse in the morning with that banana and you've got a couple things to munch during the day that wont break the calorie-bank.

Are you stuck at work hungry? or are you stuck at work with the munchies because your bored?

I munch when I'm bored, which is why I can screw up a three pound loss over my weekend. (EVERY weekend)

The point is to satisfy the munchies without taking in many calories. These are my tricks:
Bored with water? Add flavor to it with flavor drops or packets. Many have little to no calories and it's great to have something other than water flavored water.
Gum...gum is my friend and it can be yours too. Very strong mint gum kills my craving to munch (Like when you brush your teeth) you don't want to eat anything until long after that mint flavor is long gone.
Cinnamon sticks (like toothpicks) also help me. The very strong flavor kills my urge to eat anything while chewing on the stick keep my mouth busy.
Pickles! my go-to near-zero calorie snack (beware, high in sodium, drink lots of water)
My cheat is peppermints or cinnamon candies. The candy has calories, but again the strong flavor kills the urge to snack. My favorite is those large cube shapped suckers. they take FOREVER to desolve and the cinnamin nearly burns, I have to stop part way through at least three time to let my mouth take and break. One sucker could last me a hour or two. and their only 25 cents each and I'll only need one to last as all day.

I don't know why many of us have the urge to do something with our mouths when where bored. It really makes it hard, so I try to keepp easy to reach snacks away and things like gun real handy.

Ugh this way me today. I worked from home and had a big sandwich after working out for lunch which was fine but it was like some kind of trigger. For dinner, I didn't eat badly either (lentil soup) but then afterwards I had a piece of candy (the snack size so only 90 calories), then I had some cereal, half a cup of apple juice, and 6 strawberries. I know I have gone over calories today but ugh.

Yes, then I started to do chores. I think the best thing to do when you're bored at work, is go walk around the office a bit. That's what I do at work. I also stopped keeping food at my desk, I now only keep almonds too.

I was a boredom eater too. The best thing I found that works for me is to keep water around (or crystal light) and drink that whenever I feel the urge to eat. I do this in restaurants too when I've eaten half my meal and feel as if I want more.

Unfortunately I sometimes drink so much water I have to run to the bathroom a lot, but at least I get my water in for the day!
