Default gaining two lbs in two days? how is that even possible?

so i weighed in saturday morning, after my run, at 168. I took a scheduled rest day yesterday, according to my 10k training schedule, i rest every other day, and I also stayed within my weight watchers points. As of this morning, i weighed in at 170.4! ahhh! my scale says my body water percentage is a little higher than usual, but still, i'm so frustrated. This like this make me want to quit ww and try a more extreme diet to get better results but i know that i am not good at extreme diets and will eventually cave after I miss eating like a normal person.

Oh I know how you feel!! I'm in the same boat, up 4 lbs more than my ticker after this weekend!! There is just no way possible I gained fat so I'm drowning myself with water and tea to get rid of this.. I'm crossing my fingers for the both of us!! Just keep doing what you're doing and don't do anything drastic (eat over or under your calories!)!

Water weight + water retention + sodium.

It's so much fun being a woman.

Yep water weight, what everyone else said.

I will say last week was super discouraging for me as well as I kept going up 2 then down those 2 then up 3 and now up 4. I definitely did not eat my way into 4 extra pounds. It's just that time of the month. I hope by Thursday to be cleared up.

Try not to panic like I did!

I've gone up two pounds in a day once. Frustrating, but a jump like that is rarely because of what you eat.

Did you drink enough water during the day? If you're exercising you'll need to increase your water intake. I find that if I drink enough during and after tough workouts then I don't show mysterious increases in weight the next morning.

Your run might have contributed to it too. I know after a particularily intense workout I always go up the next day or two. It's crazy that we do these things to LOSE weight but instead we have to see an immediate gain (although it does drop eventually).

I definitely wouldn't give up on WW! You want a plan that you can stick with for the long haul, not one that gets you to your goal quickly (but then lets you regain quickly too!). It sounds like you're doing well sticking to your points so that's a wonderful sign. Try not to let something and silly as water weight get you down.

thanks for the support you guys!! (:

i thought about it and decided to let it be for a little bit-- i.e. keep on being on plan and not worry about the scale as much. my weight in day for ww is tomorrow, and my weigh in for the thanksgiving challenge is wed and my weigh in for my work biggest loser contest is friday, so we'll see what happens. :P

Water retention, and if you are starting to train and work different muscle groups, you could also be gaining muscle mass. For women, it seems natural that we gain about 10-12 lbs in muscle alone, you may just be targeting a muscle group that has been under little attention lately.

Don't let it get you down! And from a girl who's weight fluctuates quite regularly each day, try to stay away from that scale no more than once a week, it can be so detrimental sometimes to our motivation!

There are thousands of reasons for weight to fluctuate. You'll drive yourself crazy if you expect it to "make sense" from day to day.

It could be water retention, caused by thousands of different factors, including monthly hormones, carbohydrate digestion, sodium, illness, injury or exercise (and the extra water needed for muscle repair and healing)

It could be the weight of undigested food (not-yet-pooped poop)
