weightloss made me grow...taller?

  • yesterday my bf and i got into an argument about our height. he's 5'7 and when i'm in my heels i'm always taller than him. he insists i must be 5'5, but i'm pretty sure he just exaggerated his height (what guy doesn't really). i mean, i've been 5'3 forever (i fudge it and say 5'3.5 but even at the doctors, they say i'm less than 5'4). well, of course after 15 minutes of this argument i yelled "bring out the ruler!" so we did. lo and behold, after losing 60 lbs (and gaining back about 15) i'm 5'4.75. yeah...i'm almost 5'5!!! my mom and i figured that it must be because a) there's not as much weight pulling down on my spine b) my posture has improved with my core strength and c) since i lost almost 2 cup sizes, my chest doesn't weigh me down anymore...my back was always too weak to hold up my chest. so, now, i get to reevaluate my bmi because i'm almost 2 inches taller that i thought. how's that for a nsv!!!
  • You're probably right--your posture has a lot to do with your height.

Congratulation on your remarkable loss! You're doing really well.
  • Awesome! Now you've gotta update your height on here!
  • Whoa... I wonder if I'll get taller? I'm 5'9", and my boobs are ALSO weighing me down. But I doubt I will, because I was 130 at one point, and I'm pretty sure my height was the same.

Anyway, congrats! You now have less to lose.
  • That IS a heck of an NSV if you think about it!!! hahaha New BMI without any work.... Well, not more work than you'd already put it!

My grandma swore every time she saw me in the past 2 years that I looked like I was getting taller and taller as well. I think it's a big thing about posture and height to width ratio.... my ever shrinking width seemingly smaller and smaller so my height in retrospect seeming taller and taller!
