I think we're just going to be sensitive and self-aware for the rest of our lives...maybe that's the balance that we have to work on, and share the compassion and spread some understanding. We've all experienced, first hand and I'm sure quite painfully, the opposite! Your experiences can help a lot of other girls

Yeah, I'm struggling with this too. No matter what I do I can't seem to get an accurate view of my body. I've was obese by the time I was in 6th grade, and I don't know how to view myself now that I'm not anymore. I've always felt like the fattest one in the room, and I still see myself that way. I'm happy with the progress I've made, and a part of me knows how much better I look, but... I don't know.

Here's hoping this will all change... eventually.

It's because you haven't switched your mental state into a healthier one. You mind can play tricks on you especially when you are negative and you always talk down to yourself. Change that and you'll stop seeing that fat girl and start seeing the new improved you. It's not easy to do, but every day look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself a compliment. The second you are about to think something negative about yourself fix it.

I know what you mean Redliss7. It's hard to know what to say sometimes to those people who make it "very known".

Wow, so I can contribute to this topic. Tonight I was on facebook and this guy on our football team, who has been trying to get with me all year, wrote the following greeting "hey fatty". Now, I understand he doesn't know my past with this stuff but at first I was like uh, WTF? and felt slightly concious but then I remembered how he always talks about how much he likes my body and chilled out a bit. In the past I would have been offended and a part of me is kind of concious but I suppose my rationale is he wouldn'thave joked about it if it were true. Anyways, I suppose this is a step in my not seeing myself as the "fat girl"?

I don't have much to add, since I have a ways to go before I'm not the "fat girl" anymore, but I really, REALLY needed to comment on how much your picture reminded me of Jane Asher in the 60s (aka Paul McCartney's girlfriend most of the time he was a Beatle)! http://iamthechildofthemoon.blogspot...lady-jane.html
