Exercising and CC
For those of you who CC, do you subtract the amount of calories you burn off during exercise? Or do you simply, ignore them? I'm afraid, with exercising, I may not be consuming as many calories as I should be consuming.

I used to, but I don't any more. Calorie counters on machines or even online are too inaccurate so I really don't want to assume I'm burning more than I am. If I am really hungry after a work out, I won't mind going over my daily calorie limit to get in a bit more protein and carbs- definitely want to feed my body if it sends the message that it needs it :)
BTW you may get more traction on this thread if you post it (or if the mods move it) to the Calorie Counter forum. People post this question frequently so you're likely to get a decent response, or at least review older threads for input. good luck! |
I try to eat 1700 a day, and do not "eat" my excersize calories. :)

Indiblue is right, it's a popular question and people are pretty divided on which way they go - to "eat back" calories from exercise or not. After reading through the facts though, the conclusion is that it depends on what works for you personally. I know I burn a decent amount of calories due to the length of my workouts (distance running and teaching hour long fitness classes), but eating back all those cals wouldn't be helpful, so I add a snack on workout days - about 200 extra calories. It keeps me happy and not hungry, the best way to be I think :) Good luck!

Thanks guys! This has helped and I did check out the CC thread and did find it was very split. Lately, I haven't been eating back my calories because I haven't felt hungry. I'm just afraid I'm going to hurt my metabolism...and stop losing weight.

I dont because the point of my exercise is to create a great deficit- eating the calories back would defeat the purpose :lol:

I just forget about them and stick with my limit. I like having them as my security blanket.
