Pants and weight loss
Hey, so Im just wondering, how many pounds has it taken you all to need a new pair of pants? I assume this varies a lot from person to person and whether or not you exercise, but Im looking for a general idea here. And how about a new bra?
Im about ready to ditch these 16s, the straight out of the dryer tight just isnt cutting it these past few days. But I kind of thought it would have happened quite a few pounds ago. And my bra is definatly fitting better, but that is just because it was too small before, so I havent changed sizes there yet. I sure hope to! |
I've lost 13 pounds. My size 12 work pants need to be replaced. "Dumpy bum" is not the look I'm going for at work.
My size 12 jeans were baggy 3 pounds ago and really need to be replaced. My 10s are fitting ok, but seem short. I think as I lose more they will settle down more on my hips. My bras are still fitting. 38Es. I seem to be losing from my butt and stomach area, with my thighs following. |
hmm... i think it took like 10-15lbs for me to go down a size in pants. as for bras, i've lost a little over 20lbs and i recently switched from a DD to a D... i tried one of my old bras the other day and i kinda floated in it... lol. a bit sad cuz i always loved my giant boobies, but still... as long is a get to keep some. lol.

Rule of thumb is 10 lbs per inch. The caveat is that the plus sizes are built 2 inches apart instead of 1 inch apart like in regular.
So even though it is still 10 per inch average, because you have to go 2 inches it is 20 lbs "in between" the plus sizes. Of course cut, style, how tight you like your clothes, vanity sizing etc play into it a bit but in general... that's what it's like. Hope that makes sense. A. Hope that makes sense. A. |
I've lost about 40lbs total and when from a tight 20 to a loose 18/could most likely wear a 16 but I'm too broke to buy new pants.
When I had lost 60lbs last summer, I still wasn't out of 16s and into 14s. So I'm about 20-25lbs per pant size at this point.... |
I've lost about 40 pounds so far, but it's not really coming off terribly uniformly. My measurements towards the beginning (actually about 14 pounds down, but I didn't record at my highest. :P) were about 44.5 - 37 - 54. I was wearing a 42C bra.
So now 40 pounds later, my measurements are 41 - 32.5 - 47. My chest has shrunk, but my breasts have not. At all. I'm in a 36DDD now, a several-times-removed sister size to a 42C. My hips have shrunk 13%, my waist 11%, and my bust measurement 8%. My jeans have gone down 4 sizes, but I had an assortment of sizes at home so that hasn't been too bad. I waited until my smallest jeans were definitely too loose before buying new jeans, and then got 3 new pairs on the snuggest end of what I am comfortable wearing. I'm hoping they'll last a couple months. :) I had to switch bras for better support after about 25 pounds lost. I ended up getting bras with a smaller band size than would fit and used an extender so that I could prolong the time between needing to buy new bras. I used the extender for about 2 weeks before the 36 fit comfortably on the middle hook. I would recommend the tactic if you're interested in saving some $$$ on intermediate clothes and your band size is changing more than your cup size. Quote:
Also, I would guess that height differences are going to play a role here as well. I think that a 20 pound difference on a 5'1" person would be a more substantial clothing size change than on a 5'10" person. |
UGH! It'st he worst, seems I need new pants every month!!!! On average about every 5 weeks, it's gotten to the point that now I just buy new stretch pants. I don't even wear jeans at this point. I'm guessing I won't until I hit goal as it can get pricey!!! and annoying!
Thank God that leggings with long cardigans are in! |
I have bra extenders right now to add about 3/4 of an inch so when I can take those extenders off I will be very happy!
|
I've lost 8 lbs (new to this journey.... again), and they fit more comfortably, but I definitely couldn't get my butt into a 14 if I tried. A 14 seems oh so far away
|
I've lost about 50 pounds, and went from a size 16 to a 10. It took me a lot longer to go from 16->14 and 14->12 than 12->10. I'd say it was 20 lbs for the first 2 sizes and 10 for the last one. I'm hoping it's a size every 10 pounds from here on out!

At 243 I was an 18/20 in jeans, now I am wearing 14/16 and sometimes 12. My jeans are starting to get loose again.
MY BRA SIZE HAS NOT CHANGED AT ALL. I don't believe it. I got measured last weekend and I am still a 40DD. How is that even possible. |
Hmm, well I lost 25 pounds over 6 months and went from a 12 to a 6. I didn't really buy new pants until the end of those 6 months so I don't know how soon I needed them, but my pants were pretty baggy for awhile.

Forgot to mention bra sizes - I haven't bought new bras, but some of my bras I've had for 4 years. Back then, I was about the size I am now, so I probably should have bought bigger ones when I gained weight. At my heaviest, I used the widest hooks, and they were pretty tight. Now I'm on the middle ones and they fit comfortably.
|
I don't wear pants (that sounds weird but it's mostly true) - I wear skirts and dresses all the time, so I didn't really notice except the waistbands that once sat comfortably at my waist moved down toward my hips.
I think it was around a 10-12 pound loss from my high of 156 where I was definitely, truly one size smaller. But everybody and every body is different. |
The 20 lbs seems to be holding true for me as well. I used to wear a loose 22 at my hips or a tight 20. Now 19 lbs down its to a loose 20 tight 18.
