muscle soreness and weight gain?
Does anyone ever experience an increase in weight by a few poinds when their sore from working out? If so why? I was so sore after my workout especially in my legs and when i stepped on the scale it was slightly higher. I am not discouraged just curious because i can def tell a difference in the way my pants fit. Thank you!

Absolutely!! I don't know the scientific reason why, buy I think your muscles hold on to water or something when your sore. It should go away within a day, I think. Happens to me every single time I work out!

Thanks. Good job with your weight loss. My goal is 20 lbs my may 1st ...and in my first 2 weeks im down about 6 maybe less when this soreness goes away.

Yup -- the soreness is water retention. This means if you stop working out, you'll (surprisingly) LOSE weight... of about 1.5 lbs, one time. This is what we call "water weight." :)

I experience this too! Does the 'weight water' effect disappear as you get fitter? Or is it always something to factor in after exercise?

I think it somewhat goes away, I posted about this recently too. I also get more hungry when working out, which I seem to have fixed by eating lots of beans (Thanks for the tip ladies!!!). Make sure you are really hydrated before, during, and after working out, and all the time in general too, and I think your body will eventually even out.
Im not an expert by any means though, I could be way off base! But I did an intense workout yesterday, am very sore, and lost weight, so who knows. |
