Late night craveings
So I can handle my diet pretty good during the day. But at night I have get so hungery. I drink a glass of water and it helps but sometimes i want something I can chew. But I don't want to eat any calories after 7 any sugestions.

The same exact thing is happening to right now!! ahhhhhhhhhh! - I need to go to sleep :-( so I wont have these cravings .. I will not give in to temptation even though my house is full of goodies ;;

I used to have gum, that helped a little bit :) Also things like ricewaffers are big, take a while to eat, are low cal and are dry so you drink more water. Or sometimes i just play some games to take my mind off it or go to bed with a cup of tea :)

I have this problem as well. My advice: drink tea. There are so many yummy herbal flavors out there to chose from.

Why don't you try saving 100 calories and eat something like a small yogurt with berries, a small amount of peanut butter or almond butter on celery, soup, or anything else that will take that feeling away.

Watery things save me.
Because I can eat a lot of watermelon or melon and feel full, but it's very low cal. Or quickly saute some zucchinni -- same thing. A. |
I like activia i eat that when it gets really bad hopeing the fiber will kinda even it out. Same with fruit

Warm things make you feel full faster (like maenad said, tea is great!). I have the same problem though, not gonna lie. I usually allow myself 1 thing, and I have to choose wisely because that is it! An apple works great, takes a while to eat, very crunchy and satisfying, and not too bad on the calorie count :) Good luck though, this week was a huge struggle for me with night snacking and I didnt lose any weight because of it!

I like gum.. if you have an oral fixation thing... helps! If you need something more and don't do the herbal tea thing, some of those diet hot chocolates aren't too bad...

I agree with everything already said, but I have to wonder if it would be worthwhile to look at what you're eating during the day to make sure it's enough and that it's spaced out properly.
Another thing is that sometimes it's just breaking the habit. I used to get hungry after dinner but it was because I had a habit of having a treat afterwards. I started focusing on drinking water and having my tea as a treat and now don't have a problem. ... although sometimes I'll have a couple ginger snaps with my tea - 17 calories each - and that'll keep me happy. edit: if you're talking about late-late night cravings (as in around 1-2am and later), then sleep would be the only answer in my opinion. |
Well I normaly eat activia or fruit with a suger free fruit juice for breatfast. Around three I eat a Lean Cuisine. Around 5 0r six I eat supper with the family. I Don't like eating after 7. Even though Dr. Oz says three hours befor bed with for me is 11 or 12 with I don't want to eat that late.
I haven't heard of the warm foods makeing you fuller faster. I do like hot tea so I will try that. |

Can anyone who is on a low-carb diet weigh in on whether the cravings are worse for us low-fat dieters? |
I guess I don't really get "cravings" late at night, but I do get hungry. I usually go to bed around 11:30pm - 12:00am. I eat dinner around 6:00-7:00pm. By the time I'm going to bed, it's been a good 5-6 hours since I've eaten anything. My stomach is growling and let's face it, it's impossible to sleep when you're hungry. I usually opt for a sugar-free 60 calorie pudding snack. But now I try to prevent getting so hungry so late by having the pudding snack about an hour and a half before I go to bed so I can digest before I sleep.
