Weighed in for my company's Biggest Loser competition...

  • Every year around this time, my company does a 12-week Biggest Loser competition, with a $350 top prize. For the last two years, I had weird complications that prevented me from really getting into it (the first year, I had two grandparents pass away during the competition, and last year, I spent a crazy month buying my first house). This year, though, my schedule is free and clear, and I'm ready to kick some butt

With the weigh in today, I went all out - I wore my heaviest sweater, plus a jacket, plus my glasses instead of my contacts and as much jewelry as I could get away with without looking crazy. I also had a big breakfast and have been pounding water like crazy all morning. As an added bonus, I'm seriously retaining water from TOM and sore weight-lifting muscles.

I got on the scale and it said 198.8, compared to my scale at home which said 181.6 at the beginning of the month!!!

It was pretty traumatic - even though I know I don't really weigh that much, that's close to my highest weight ever, so seeing the number on the scale is weirdly difficult for me.

Now I've got to get down to really eating healthy and exercising so that a) I don't have to see that number again, and b) to win that $350!!!
  • Plus...all that extra stuff you're wearing weighs a LOT.
  • you should have put some fishing weights in your pockets, too.
  • Haha - I thought about that, but decided to stay away from anything that could have been construed as outright cheating... Everything else that I did was within reason (like, it's actually -3 degrees here right now, so the heavy sweater isn't just for the weigh in!).

And yeah, logically I know that's not what I actually weigh - but emotionally, it was just harder than I expected to see that number on the scale again.
  • Good luck smisen! Rock it out for those 350 bucks!
  • I don't think people realize how much a t-shirt can add on the scale. Good strategy.
  • My work did a Biggest Lose Challenge last year but I wasn't able to participate. I'm hoping they do it again this year! Good luck with your challenge!
  • Thats awesome lol, beat the system! I know what you mean about it being traumatic, i wont weigh myself on any other scale but the one in my bathroom because for me, at this point in my journey, it would be devastating for me to see a number that much higher than my current 194.
  • woooot! I hope you win!
  • the only weight I count is the one on the Weight Watcher's Scale so I'm consistent.

I weighed in at the Dr. the other day and I was 4lbs lighter than at WW...BUT...I go by what they say.
