Seeing day-to-day fluctuations doesn't bother me, because I know most of it is water weight. So, if I gain a pound between Thurs & Friday, it's easy to explain because I know that I didn't eat enough calories on Thursday to gain a "real" pound overnight. (It's actually pretty hard to eat 3500 calories over maintenance in a single day.) A gain of a pound over a full week, though, could be water ... or it could be fat.

I think it's the opposite for a lot of people, with the daily weigh ins. I've seen quite a few posts from people frustrated because their weight changes from day to day and they don't feel like they're losing. Logically, most of us know that weight fluctuates, but I guess for some of us it's just nicer to not have to deal with seeing the scale go up and down all the time, and see a little 1-2 lb whoosh once a week instead. Totally get what you're saying, though, if one can get past the frustration of weight fluctuations, daily weigh ins can be a really good tool.
