I've been thinking about setting up some kind of reward for when I reach my goal weight at the end. I think i definitely deserve it WHEN i reach my goal..not if. I don't want it to be about food either..like "eat a whole rack of ribs" or an entire pizza lol. Any ideas? I'm thinking some kind of trip or to do something i've always wanted to do like take trapeze lessons or go skydiving. Something that will make me feel happy and free.
What are some rewards you have set up for yourself?
The first, and the one that I've had on my mind for a long time, is to get professional pictures taken, probably of the pin-up girl variety. That way I have a visual reminder of all the hard work I put in.
The second is a trip to Argentina, but that's kind of a combination 30th birthday/Master's graduation/weight loss gift.
Hey angeluv! I've got several rewards in mind for my goals along the way:
175: I get to go on a rollercoaster
160: Bungee jump off the Stratosphere
145/140: Ultimate goal = SKYDIVE!
I haven't decided if I may do smaller rewards every 5lbs yet.
Wow! That would be more of a punishment for me! I have a fear of heights so I wouldn't do those for a million dollars!
My rewards are clothes, clothes, clothes. For 5 lbs., I may buy nailpolish. For 10 pounds I buy a cute shirt that will still be wearable when I reach goal. I also like to get a massage for 10 lbs. lost.
morphomel!! I've wanted to jump off the stratosphere since the first time i saw the skyjump and everyone i've told thinks im crazy lol. But that is a great idea i definitely want to do that and skydiving too. I"ve already been on tons of coaster..i'm definitely an adrenaline junkie. I think i'm going to make a list of things I want to do. I guess like a bucket list and pick the top one to do when i reach my goal and do the others eventually.
stellarosa27 i think the pin up pics or a boudoir shoot is a great idea! i've always loved those pictures but i always thought ..they look good for those girls, i would look horrible. But like u said it could be a great reward for all the hard work.
junebug41 I didn't think about rewards either and figured yeah...i'll look awesome thats enough but after thinking about it..i think i want a reward..something that makes it about something besides just loosing weight or how i look. Something that will make me feel good about the changes i've made as a person and for myself and that will allow me to feel free of all the weight and stress..and even the stress about dieting. Something just for myself.
My rewards are in my signature, split up to be on every major goal (50 lbs). As far as mini-goals go, I usually celebrate those by a new video game, or book.
I have a few rewards that I have decided for myself.
When I reach my Jan 1 goal of dipping under 250, I am going to buy a new digital bathroom scale and ditch my old one
June 2011- onderland! Kayacking
Final goal - shopping and photos!
My big goal is for a trip to Scotland. It may take a couple of years, though from a cost perspective. It will be a combo, WL, graduation, 40th birthday trip
Skydiving (ULTIMATE goal)
Hot air balloon
Boudoir session
Some cute shorts to wear in public next summer (I haven't worn shorts in public in YEARS)
A trip to an amusement park with my kids
I don't yet know, other than the skydiving, what weights I want them at. LOL I am hoping I'll just know when I get there. I think the boudoir shoot will be either May/Oct of next year (probably Oct... I'll still be heavy, but 100 lbs down would be a big difference.. it would be a present for DH). I'm thinking hot air balloon in Aug for my bday. Skydiving when I hit 153.
Do you think that having my goals being months instead of weights is a bad thing Maybe I should do a month IF I'm at XXX weight? LOL
love to hear these ideas. i always thought i'd splurge on a bunch of new clothes, as i don't enjoy shopping at all at the moment. i've also always wanted professional pics done as well.
something i'd really like to do is go on vacation on my own, somewhere quiet, beautiful, serene. just for a few days. i rarely get time alone to actually unwind
wow KayNicole climbing half dome is a feat. More power to you if you can do that and that is your goal..that is amazing really.
JackieHollow we all set up certain goals for dates..like loose this much weight for christmas...but i think attaching your rewards to months might be setting yourself up for failure if you don't reach them and then get upset about it. But it also might motivate you to reach that goal..I just think its what personally works for you.
Thanks Angel. I love hiking and geology so I thought it would be perfect. That and I have always wanted to do it. I can do an all day hike easy it's the elevation climb that always gets me. :/
