I am an hourglass. Always hated that.
Even after a mastectomy and reconstruction surgery that is much smaller then my natural appearance I am 11inches smaller in waist then bust and hips.
Most of my weight is in my legs and lower belly.
Just now went under 200 lbs=hope to lose some of the lower belly in the next 30 lbs and firm up my legs walking and at the gym.
I remember not being able to wear jeans at 135 lb(in my 20s) because they didn't fit my hips if they fit everywhere else.
To quickly find out if you are an apple or a pear, calculate your waist-to-hip ration. Measure your waist and hips, then divide your waist size by your hip size. If your ratio is more than 0.8 for women or 1.0 for men, then you are considered an apple.
According to the above, I am a pear, very close to an apple.
I'm probably an apple. Not really sure. I have a short torso, so my ribcage and hips aren't that far apart, I'm sort of compact. But I definitely have a waist and curves, and I'm not sure that apples typically have waits?..
