Soo...

As a means to keep myself motivated and on the "good eating" "great exercising" path - I signed up for a triathlon.

www.dctri.com

Its in June, and I'm doing the sprint distance (so small) but still...I remember from my long hike last May that I honestly felt 1000000 x better when I ate the right stuff. I'm going to have to train a lot for this tri (and the hike because I intend to finish it this year), and if I'm going to train, I have to eat to train.

I went to Trader Joe's last night and stocked up on healthy food. It was 2 steps up because I had NO food in my apartment, let alone healthy food.

I have oatmeal, veggies, hummus, lean turkey, egg whites and low-fat cat cookies (God I love these things) and I'm now prepared to feed my body what it needs to NOT feel like crap. The idea is that if my body doesn't feel like crap, my mind will catch up.

I'm still planning on signing up for the ODH in January. I will make those 62 miles my b*tch.

Wow Good for you Stella!! What a productive/ ambitous way to get yourself motivated!!

PlaygroundLove 11-05-2010 01:34 PM

stellarosa, do you know what the 2011 date is for ODH? I can't find it on their site, but I'm super interested in registering too! I wanted to do it this year, but it fell right at the start of my final exams...

stellarosa27 11-05-2010 02:13 PM

Thanks Dianne!

Playground - the hike date is usually listed closer to the registration date. Its always the last weekend in April or first weekend in May. This past year it was Saturday, May 1st (and humid as a mother...) Where are you located ?

PlaygroundLove 11-06-2010 05:15 AM

I'm in Connecticut...the drive's not too bad, like 5 or 6 hours. :)

Grrr, it'll STILL be the same weekend finals start this year, then...but I think I'll consider going anyway :P If I budget my time really well, I guess it wouldn't be too much of an issue!

That's awesome Stella, good luck! I'm currently planning on doing five half-marathons next year, but I really don't think I could ever do a triathalon haha, so good for you :)

that's great stella! i've always wanted to do something like that. there are always indoor triathalons at the lifetime i go to..but i feel like its not as difficult as an outdoor one. aw i wish there was a trader joe's by me.
