In need of a buddy?

Hey everyone! I am a newbie here (I hope I'm doing this right!) and I really need some support! I am 21 and looking to lose some weight. I gained weight while I was on antidepressants (ugh!) and now I just want it all gone! The thing is, I have a really hard time with sugar cravings. It drives me nuts!!!
Does anyone have any suggestions for that?
I really need some support...I'm not getting a lot of support here...not because no one wants to help, but because I'm too shy to talk about it with just about everyone :(:(

Aww don't you worry hun! I am here for you day or night =) just ask! There's no need to be shy here, everyone is going through the same stuff as you are, and some have a lot longer way to go. We all need to support each other and the best way to do that is by getting out there and speaking up ^_^

I'm Jadeyn, and I'm also new here, and I will certainly be willing to give you whatever encouragments you need!

hi! i'm new here too, and sugar is my BIGGEST downfall. i tell everyone that i wish i had a sweet tooth, but instead i have sweet teeth-all of them!

i'll help you out!

Have you looked into the South Beach Diet? I did that a couple of years ago and it did wonders for my cravings.

Also, it's important to plan. Out of curiosity, what's your game plan. Maybe some of us can give you tips on that based on our own experiences.

And welcome! This is a great community!

Try chewing gum for the cravings...even brushing your teeth can help sometimes. Good luck!

Hi Pamela,

The exact same thing has happened to me! The sugar cravings are INSANE.

Misty23 09-16-2010 08:43 PM

I'm up all the time, so if you ever need to talk or vent I am here for you and I know all about shyness (pretty much an expert on the subject).

I actually eat altoids as a craving deterrent. So I almost always have minty fresh breath. I mean altoids have calories but I'd rather have the small amount to eat them and then to eat what I'm craving (which is normally something sugary or salty).

I wish you the best of luck and you came to the right place. Not everyones open about what's going on in their lives, but this is a really safe place to actually open up and vent and let it all out.

I find if I don't allow myself sugar for a good week or so, the cravings go away. If I treat myself to some reese peanut butter cups those cravings come back for another week and it drives me nuts.

Be strict for a week and see how you feel :)

There's a lot of great people here, I find I only stay on plan when I visit daily and chat with people.

That is so true :O

If I'm on here chatting about weight loss, I'm not off stuffing my face.

If you ever want to chat, send me a private message. I also have AIM so we can chat there if you have it too. :)

I second the suggestion of South Beach. I am huge sugar addict and have been doing this for about a month now and it has helped SO much!

south beach is awesome! just a little headache at the beginning but it's like you feel your body kicking away the sugar addiction!
my problem is that i'm italian and here if you say you're on a diet like the southbeach they both think you're crazy and you're harming yourself!!
like other did, i'd say GO FOR IT!!

I love sweet tea, especially after dinner when I always want something sweet. Nice black tea with a splash of milk and two proper sugars always sorts me out and fills me up :)
