TOM'S a Knockin!
Is it true that your body wants more to eat when you are on TOM? I find whenever I am close to or on TOM that I seem to never get full and want to eat every hour (I already eat every 2 to 3 hours at the most). For example, I just ate at 10:30 (100 calorie popcorn with 3 oz of chicken). Now an hour later my body is giong crazy for food again! So I just ate some pretzels.
Anywhoo, to clear up my question; is it a myth that your body craves more to eat when on TOM? Thanks!! |
I think it varies a lot from person to person, and even from month to month with the same person. I usually crave comfort foods (bready stuff like pizza or doughnuts) around TOM like CRAZY. But I try really hard not to give in because I know there's really no satisfying it -- I could eat a whole pizza and then look for a box of doughnuts. lol
Last month I didn't get any cravings, the month before that it was terrible! |
Your body actually burns more calories right before TOM, which explains why many of us feel hungrier. I usually up my intake by 100-200 calories, and space out when I eat.
Of course, right before/during TOM your body is "stressed" and that also triggers our brain to want to eat more, so just be aware and don't over do it. |

I'm always just hungry right before my TOM. Its not so much about craving chocolate or sweets...its always volume! I just try to fill up on veggies and protein and drink extra water

just like now my TOM started.
OH right, that explains why I ate 800 calories of cake 3 days ago and 400 calories of cake each day follows that....until today lol. So yah, I think I always crave for sweets (lots of it) before TOM. But during TOM, I usually feel bloated => feeling full => I eat less though. So i guess it does balance out in a way lol. |
OK this is all good news. I couldnt figure out why these past few days have been hard for me. I have been trying to keep my cals at 1550 but MOnday I shut up to 1900 and today although I think I might keep it at 1550, I had to subsitute some of the good calories for "bad" ones. For example, I had pretzels and cheezits instead of chicken and broccoli ooppsy I hope I get TOM soon!

Well, mine will start today or tomorrow and right now I am craving sweets BAD.
