Songs to Exercise By?....
Hi All,
I'm new to this site, just joined up yesterday! This is my first official post (less the Intro one) and I hope I'm posting this in the right forum! I'm 28 - 240 lbs (whoa!) and am in need of some great tunes to motivate my butt at the gym. Any suggestions? Please and Thanks! -Sarah |
Welcome to the boards!
I really love some Daft Punk. Their music is always so upbeat and fun, without a lot of words to distract me. Here are some of my personal favorites: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Around the World One More Time Aerodynamic Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! |
The music I typically enjoy is not good for working out, but something that gets me pumped and going hard is the Black Eyed Peas. I'm not a huge fan, but can tolerate the music.
There's just something about them that get's you working hard though! |
There's a thread like this going on in the exercise forum, but I'll repost my (partial!) list here too. :)
All-American Rejects: Gives You ****, Dirty Little Secret Akon: Beautiful Foo Fighters: The Best of You Jimmy Eat World: Pain, The Middle The Killers: When You Were Young The White Tie Affair: Candle (Sick and Tired) 3OH!3: Don't Trust Me, My First Kiss Chris Brown: Forever Coldplay: Viva la Vida Metro Station: Control Boys Like Girls: Great Escape Scorpions: Rock You Like a Hurricane Heart: Alone, What About Love Daughtry: Over You |

I like your songs, I like to listen to 98.5, 97.5, and 94.1, those are all good stations to work out to. :) |
I listen to Rehab (the band, not the song by Amy Winehouse or Rihanna), Lady GaGa, Rihanna, and then assorted popular R&B stuff as I work out. I really like Rehab and Lady GaGa the best, though.

Thanks All!
I'll check out the exercise forum for more. Love the Daft Punk - thanks for the idea- I completely forgot about them! Some of my favs - for running especially are Royksopp, Goldfrapp (Strict Machine is the best song! and White Horse), Ke$ha... |

i'm a hard rock and metalhead (American metal, not so much european metal that gets into "black" metal or "death" metal) but music is the #1 motivator for me! I was a ballet dancer all through High School, and then in college, I didnt take ballet anymore and so i picked up running. I HATED running, but I needed to workout somehow right? Now I've been running for about 3 years, and I actually kind of like it, but I could NEVER do it without my ipod.
Some of the songs on my workout list (good for getting pumped up, stoked, and even little angry) are: "Two Weeks" by All That Remains "Prayer" & "Just Stop"by Disturbed "Fractured" by Taproot "Blur", "Get Back" & "Now or Never" by Zebrahead "A Certain Shade of Green" by Incubus "Sticks n' Stones" by Jamie T "A Little Piece of Heaven" & "Almost Easy" by Avenged Sevenfold "Closer to the Edge" by 30 Seconds to Mars "Shoulda Known Better" & "F.I.G.H.T" by Unwritten Law "Eryn Smith" by the Matches "Whatever" by Godsmack "Wait and Bleed" by Slipknot Hope this helps! Good luck getting started =) |

What an awesome idea for a thread. Everyone's posted some awesome songs, many of which are already on my playlists for the gym. I personally go for a huge mash-up of stuff. Anything that's driving, has a good beat, or can get you pumped... I just slap it all together and sweat baby sweat.
Still a huge fan of all the music I grew up with, y'know.. the 90's rock, R&B, etc. But I never rule out anything interesting. Eminem - Lose Yourself Fatboy Slim - Weapon of Choice Finger Eleven - Paralyzer The Fratellis - Flathead / Henrietta The Futureheads - Struck Dumb (One of my fav. treadmill songs!) Jimmy Eat World - The entire "Chase this Light" CD Jurassic 5 - One Two / The Game / Freedom (Great beats) The Kills - Cheap and Cheerful M.I.A. - Paper Planes / Galang Madonna - The entire "Confessions on a Dance Floor" CD 3OH!3 Black Eyed Peas Lady Gaga Daft Punk Shinedown Seether The Descendents Fall Out Boy So many other things as well... but I won't ramble on for forever. :dizzy: |

HAHAH Great suggestions guys!
I'm an old skool hardcore breakbeat junky (techno) so I have TONS of old mixes from all sorts of DJs around the world. To those that mentioned Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx - you can never go wrong. I actually heard the song "4th of July" by Kalis today (you know, the girl that did the milkshake song) and it's actually pretty dope. Has a good house beat behind it. |
