high heels
this may be a silly question but does anyone know if wearing heels does anything? Is it like a workout for the legs? I'm hoping yes :) mainly because I have to wear them daily. So I'm hoping it's burning calories more than my comfy flats...lol.

As someone who doesn't wear heels too often, when I do where them I always feel the burn on the back of my legs. But, I think it might be related to the fact that I'm just not use to them.
So...I'm not too sure. ;) |
I don't know that it burns more calories. I did read somewhere that it can put your feet in an unnatural position that can cause leg and hip pain when running. Throws your arches out of line or something maybe?
My high heels hurt a lot less now than when I weighed more, I can tell you that. :) |
There are tons of reports and studies out there on women wearing high heels. The consensus is usually that they are completely unnatural for our feet and cause many problems like Shannon mentioned. I kind of bet the negative out weighs the calf workout. :/ which is sad because I love the way heels look.... I just can't handle wearing them for anything other than sitting and looking pretty!! LOL I haven't worn heels for more than a new minutes in YEARS!

I used to walk about 2 miles to school everyday in 4 inch heels and I could definitely notice my calves got more defined. Whilst heels aren't great for your feet as long as they're very comfortable and well fitting and you don't wear them all the time I think you should be fine.
