So I'm going to Seattle in a few weeks for work. I get in on Wednesday, then I'm working Thursday-Friday and I don't fly home until Sunday at noon. I was thinking of driving up to Vancouver on Friday night/Saturday morning to sight see there, as I've never been there.
Any suggestions on things to do for the day?
Also, how does this whole border crossing thing work and how much time should I a lot for it?
I know nothing about the border and times - but make sure you have a valid passport!
Vancouver is a beautiful city! If you head into downtown, check out the Olympic Flame - as far as I know it is still lit. While in the area you could check out of the Aquarium if that interests you - I love the Belugas! Guess that could be time consuming though.
Hmmm what else to do in Vancouver. When I go I always have to go to Lululemon and the boyfriend always has to go to the Canucks team store. haha Since world I guess; Playland if you like rides but dunno how awesome it is compared to what you have around you.
If you like shopping walking down Robson Street is fun. Just lots of shopping...
How bad is it there I am pretty much from there and can't tell you what to do.
There is a steam clock, but I dunno how cool that is.
I loooove Vancouver! My husband is from there and there are so many things to do and see. Lots of good shopping and eating on Broadway, 4th Street, Robson Street....everywhere really.
Granville Island would be fun for the morning. Little independent shops and cafes, and a HUGE Farmer's Market that is really, really cool. They sell everything and it's all right down on the water.
There's Vancouver Science World if you're into that, or the Aquarium down in Stanley Park. Or just to go Stanley Park, it's beautiful to walk around.
As for the border crossing, not too sure on that, I've never crossed there. As long as you have your passport and ID, it should be fairly smooth sailing....Hopefully someone else is more helpful than that.
I'm a vancouverite, there are so many things to do!
Everything mentioned are great suggestions!
As far as workout activities if you were interested: walking the seawall in Stanley park (a huge park in the middle of the city) is one of the most popular activities among locals, jut going to the park is a must do for any tourist. Or for an intense experience there's a hike called the Grouse Grind. Amazingexperience and a mega mega calorie burn lol. Or at least, if you can, take the gondola up grouse mountain, it's maybe a half hour from the city's downtown, many shuttles leave the city to take people up there. It's absolutely worth it.
Lastly, granville island is a part of the city that's very easy to get to, and is one of my favourite places to go. Those are my very top 3 suggestions.
Stanley park and Granville island is free. Grouse mountain does coat money to take the gondola but is free if you hike up
Driving across the border is very easy. It could be a 10-45 minute wait. Depends on the time of day. Then they just ask a couple of questions and you're through. Have fun!
You can do a lot of walking downtown! You can go to the beach, you can go shopping, there's science world, stanley park, tons of stuff! Hopefully it's not raining though, seems like that's all it does here. I'm still waiting for summer
Hey I have a tip for the border crossing. I guess it depends on the time of day, but you should consider going to the crossing in Lynden instead of Blaine. It's a little east of I-5, but because of that it's WAY faster. I used to live in Bellingham, WA (I now live closer to Seattle) and I'd say it's definitely worth it. Make sure you have your passport too. Getting into Canada isn't the hard part- it's getting back into the US.
Hope you have a fun trip!
Definitely check out Stanley park! In general the sea wall is very scenic so even if you just walk along a part of it you will still enjoy yourself. Also maybe check out English bay. I'm just going to give you a list of places I take out of town guests when they come to visit me
1) Stanley park
2) robson st and Granville st
3) Granville island
4) grouse mountain
5) don't know If you're into it but maybe check out little Italy or little India or Chinatown
6) whistler
7) in general just walking around downtown is worth it
8) metropolis at metrotown (huge mall in burnaby, although I prefer shopping on robson)
9) edgewater casino
