Jess - Oh man. Time to TRAIN. I'm gonna do the half. I'll crawl to the finish line if I have to. I'm going to see if I can get somebody to sponsor me (eyes New Balance).

Stella - I'll be down to do hash with you when I'm back! And, maybe CB seeing you "die" will be a huge turn on because he'll see how hard you're working. You can do it. I've heard it's really fun and it's pretty huge overseas. They had a hash run in Bangkok but I couldn't find the start :(

Forest - FOUR MILES IN 34?! Yeah. THAT'S EFFIN' FAST. I can run a 5K in that time. Sheesh woman. That's awesome! I aspire to be a speedster like you.

Feral - Hotties are always good to look at! I'm glad he was your motivation. Now just remember what time you went and go near that time every day and you'll be running at 9.0 in no time!

Jenny - Aw thanks! It was easy too :) I always forget that it's hard for people to get Asian-esque ingredients in some places though. Lucky Cali has so many Asians that it's EVERYWHERE. What part of your back hurts? If it's your lower back, I would DEFINITELY rest it. If it's your upper, you can usually massage the stress muscle and it'll get better quick, but typically our lower backs are significantly weaker. Do that "arch like a cat, flat like a table" on your knees back thing.

Chele615 03-31-2010 06:39 AM

Forest - I am very impressed with your 34 minute 4 mile run!! That's awesome :)

Jenny - Definitely rest your back. The back is definitely something tricky and you don't want to injure it more than it already is. Have you tried one of those thermapack heat things? I used to get the one for cramps and it was like heaven!! haha

Feral - I agree with Jess. Try to go at the same time so you have hottie to look at again ;)

It's STILL raining!!! This is the third day in a row. But I think today is the last of it and then the warm weather is supposed to be coming in. Thank god!!! I told one of my students that I would stay after school with her today so that she can get caught up on her Spanish work. She had surgery yesterday, so she has two days of Spanish work to get through. I'm glad to help her out in any way that I can, but I just really don't want to stay late at school! LOL I would much rather just go straight home and straight to the gym. haha

JennyG 03-31-2010 07:26 AM

Chele - gross!! Its still raining here too! But the weekend is looking promising! My cousin from Billerica text me and told me it was going to be 80 this weekend there!!!!! so yay! Great shopping weather!

Im running late today and the BF is coming out for breakfast before work ;) (I spoil him I know lol) gotta jet!

Happy Hump Day!

Samantha417 03-31-2010 08:30 AM

Forest: DAMN GIRL. It takes me 29 minutes to run 3 miles...GO YOU!!!

It finally stopped raining. WHOO HOOO!!!!! And it's supposed to go back up into the 60's today!

I got up at 6:15 this morning and went to the gym...early morning workouts are not that bad when you go to bed at a decent time. This is definitely something I'll be doing from now on if I have to work on a monday, wednesday, or friday because otherwise I'll just be rushing myself and might have time for a shower and that's just down right icky. I ran 3 miles, and then I was on the stairmaster for 15 minutes. That thing makes you pour buckets! I love it!!!

I'm so excited for the boyfriend to come up for the weekend. Beyond excited!!

forestroad 03-31-2010 10:02 AM

Thanks guys :) Jess7286- I should really do a half like you. I'm getting the speed thing but I still don't have the distance thing. And I only have the speed thing on the treadmill. Samantha- 3mi in 29 minutes is really good! My 3mi pace for that run was about 27, so about 28 for a 5k...that's really close.

I got new running shoes last night too, Asics Kayano 15s. I'm upgrading from the 2120s. I was thinking of going to 2140 or 2150, but not a lot of places actually have them in my size. So I tried the Kayanos and the Nimbuses and the Kayanos are awesome...your foot just rolls off the toe, and they are so light. The sales girl was really nice too and gave me an extra 20% off, so they were only $89. I found them on amazon for $85 including shipping, too, if anyone is looking. They usually run north of $100; the sticker price is $140.

shortandfluffy 03-31-2010 10:10 AM

Thank you forest for replying to my question and being the ONLY one to reply.

Sorry to be a negative nancy, but the reason I don't post much here is my posts never get responded to. I ask a question... only one person answers. Everyone else gets a response... not me. I usually try to chime in with the convo. and reply on what is going on. But I just can't keep up... its hard not to feel like you don't fit in. Sooooo I will just stick to the other threads. Sorry guys.

Feral 03-31-2010 11:08 AM

Chele - sorry to hear it's still raining!!! You should head down this way -- it's sunny and it's supposed to be in the 80s by the end of the week. The weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS!!! And that's so nice of you to help your student with her homework! Good karma, it'll come back around.

Samantha - that recipe for the salad sounds yummy! I forgot to mention to you the other day when you posted, but the pictures from the thign you did the other day - you look so tiny! Great progress pics in the photo album too!!!

Jazz Jess - Ummm... I would totally stop and listen to the music! The rock n roll run sounds like a BLAST though! I wish they did something like that near here. Also, to answer your question from a while back I'm still doing SBD. I'm continuing P1 until tomorrow (although I did eat a banana yesterday because my legs have been really sore from working out). I've been half assed counting calories, but I'm trying to be a littttle more conscious of what I'm eating.

Jenny - your boyfriend may have a point. I really have to second him and tell you to slow down and heal your back before you destroy it. Coming from someone who had CHRONIC back pain for 2 years... you can really jack it up and you'd be surprised how easy it is to jack it up again once you've already hurt it. Granted, I was in a wreck with an 18 wheeler, but even small things after that would leave me sore and aching for days. It's okay to take some time off. Do the stretches Jess said... it not only helps your back but will help your core too (hello planks). HOORAY for awesome weather while you're in the states! You're gonna have a blast!

Kelli - I just recently joined the gym again. I think it can go a few ways so you really have to weigh the pros and cons. I have a treadmill at home. i use it on occasion but not as much as I "should." I had a gym membership before and rarely went so i cancelled, however, I do like the fact they have more machines (including a 30 minute weight circuit) that I can use. I go to Planet Fitness which for me is only $10 a month with NO contract. I've really pushed myself to go recently so I think it's a fantastic investment. I would love to go to a gym that offered classes (and $40/month for that kind of gym is cheap so I would go for it), but there isn't one close enough to my house and I feel like I get more use out of the one near my house because there are no excuses that way. I hope that helps and I'm sorry you feel you get left out. I know for me sometimes I don't always have time to go back but may respond to the most recent responses on the same page.

Forest - you are a MACHINE!!!!! How awesome are you! The guy I was drooling over yesterday did a mile in a little over 7 minutes... if he was doing 4 it probably would've been about the same pace and he was hauling a$$. I'll get there one day!!!!

Jess - I went yesterday around 11:30 which unfortunately is when I'm usually working. This week is spring break so I have the week off.... so I went in the "morning" to avoid the crowds. I'll def keep my eye out for him though. LOL

-------------------
Okay so seriously you guys can be sick of me bragging, but I like to share my JOYS with you because you all really motivate me. Today is official weigh day -- 188.0! That means I have lost 20 lbs and have also lost my FIRST 10% of my body weight. Granted, it took me a little over 2 months to lose 10 lbs, but you can't lose if you aren't doing the work. I'm so psyched again and ready to kick *** and take names. Again - THANK YOU ALL!!! You listen to me whine, you listen to me when I'm excited and you always have good advice.

I woke up about 10:30 this morning. Almost 12 hours of sleep - that's gotta stop otherwise I'm going to be REALLLLLY sad next week when work starts up again. Plus I dont' like sleeping that long, but I guess my body needed it.

I'm going to see Alice in 3D with my mom this afternoon. We were going to go to IMAX but they didn't have an earlier showing of it, I figure if I have to see it in IMAX I can go some other time. Speaking of which, I am TOTALLY stoked for the new Hubble in 3D. I love outer space... and as my father likes to tell me, apparently I live there.

Therapy after the movie.

I'm taking today as a rest day, unless I get a wild hair and decide to go work out tonight.

Tomorrow is "THE" bar crawl aka Eric's birthday party downtown. I can't exactly say I'm super stoked about it, but I'm sure we'll have fun. I'm volunteering to be DD so I don't end up with a crap ton of empty calories that is going to set me back from the progress I've made this week.

Have a Happy Hump Day everyone!!!

stellarosa27 03-31-2010 11:32 AM

Hey all!

This is going to be short b/c my computer is being a J-E-R-K, but hi!! I took a mental health day from work.

Kelly - my gym is $20 a month and I loved it. I shopped around, and if you tell them you're shopping, they give you competitive rates, or waive fees. I agree with Forest, my old gym was $50 a month and it was the best thing I spent money on. Also the cost motivated me to go.

And I'm sorry if you feel left out, but there are a lot of posts going on, and as many of us say, we don't always go back and read everything OR have time to respond to everything. I wouldn't take it so personal.

Ok, so this computer is freaking out. Time to head up to school waaaay early to get paper research done. Woot. Thank goodness the library has a starbucks :)

Five people posted RIGHT after me so there was no going back and reading.... and its not the first time.

stellarosa27 03-31-2010 12:14 PM

Yes, and your post was one of the last on a previous page. Sometimes when you have questions like that, you get more answers if you make a new thread because it pops up at people.

And refer to where I said my computer was acting up - it spells things for me, and my mouse doesn't cooperate, so sorry about your name.

shortandfluffy 03-31-2010 12:57 PM

I don't really like to make new threads if I don't have to... there is already SO much more on here. My post was the last one on the page BUT all the other things that got commented on were above mine... I will move on though.

Its cool about the name... it just gets spelled wrong ALLLL the time and it drives me nuts. My last name too.

Sorry for being *****y, but its one of those days. Taking too much to heart.

forestroad 03-31-2010 02:02 PM

Feral- Congrats on the 188!

Stella- I need a mental health day. I just took an extra mental health lunch hour.

Kelli- it's ok hon we all have those days. i've also started threads that no one has replied to. It's rough bc you come on here to feel accepted, and sometimes it can seem like the same old friendships are forming and you're an outsider all over again. But on the other side, I think a good thing is that you can jump in at any time and respond where you have time/actually something to say, without being pressured to respond to everyone. I myself haven't been the best at reading/responding to everything, but it's certainly nothing personal. Some of my favorite people on here I haven't actually responded to in days.

stellarosa27 03-31-2010 02:54 PM

People constantly get my name wrong too (same thing, mistake a Y for the IE) so I understand that.

Forest - I've just been so tired - between travelling, school, putting in extra hours at work and on top of that, all this family bs that's going on, I was just like okay, I need to take a day off to tie up things I've been neglecting (like school assignments) and also to destress a little before going home this weekend.

Jess - He's seen me "die" before, he's gone spinning with me and I'm always out of breath when we hike (uphill) - he knows I work hard. Its just the running. That's his thing and I'm so terrible at it. After this school semester is over, I'm going to make an appt with my doctor to talk about this breathing thing. My friend Sam thinks I have exercise induced asthma, or something similar.

Chele - I was very impressed with how quickly the weather changes in Boston. Last Thursday it was beautiful, then Friday it was snowing. I was like huh? What?

Samantha - I love/hate the stairmaster. Never knew my butt could sweat before I did that thing.

Feral - YAY :)

So I went spinning this morning - got a really good work out (on top of the hour and a half I worked out last night) but the instructor was HARD - there were almost no breaks to grab water, so I made my own, which I never, ever do. I was just like lady, HYDRATION. So now, of course, I'm starving. I got a flatbread from DnD right after that, and I just got to school and ran to quiznos and got a small sub. I'll probably grab sushi on campus tonight before class, if I can get to the dining hall before all of the little whipper snappers.

Why is the library FULL on a day when it is gorgeous outside? I have an assignment I need to type up/print, and as soon as that's done, I am sitting outside. I have lots of things I need to read, and I can read outside.

Chele615 03-31-2010 05:54 PM

Stella - That's one of our sayings up here. "Don't like the weather?....wait 10 minutes. It'll change" LOL

Jenny - 80's will be fabulous shopping weather!!! Although really it's shopping...so any weather works ;) LOL I can't believe you're actually going to be in Billerica this weekend. That's so crazy to me because no one knows where we are!!!

Feral - Thanks!!! Congratulations on being more in the 180's than you were yesterday. That's so exciting :)

It FINALLY stopped raining!!!! Sun's still not out yet, but it's not wet and that's really all that matters right now. And the girl who I was going to help with her homework ended up coming in today after all, so we spent two blocks doing Spanish work to get her all caught up. Half of my Geometry class was out today, so we had a "catch up on all your other work" day. So, that meant I got to leave work early and go to the gym!!! I even did some extra time there. I am so into the book that I'm reading that I kept adding on 15 extra minutes on the bike so that I could finish the chapter. LOL

aliquot 03-31-2010 06:25 PM

I went back to the gym today. I still hate it but I just gotta get into the 2-teens. I can't wait. I think I might do yoga as well because I am in the mood and it always leaves me feeling so relaxed after the last cool down track.
