Another TOM question...hunger?

I'm not exactly sure when my TOM is. It's actually so regular, that I just expect it to come when it comes so I don't pay attention to it. My guess is I'll start in about a week.

Well today and yesterday I've been hungrier than normal. I've been staying on plan, eating the same amounts of the same type of stuff, no change in activity level. I'm just hungrier. I'm more excited about meal times and I don't feel as satisfied afterwards. This has happened to me a few times over the course of my weight loss (since October), and I'm recognizing a pattern. I get hungrier a few days before my period starts.

Anybody else get this? I don't really get chocolate cravings or anything during TOM, I just get generally hungrier before.

If I could I would eat the whole house right before my period. It's not quite as bad on my new birth control (now that I think about it), but it's defintely normal.

I could literally just eat and eat and eat. I have a MAJOR case of the munchies more so than I do craving for chocolate. Although, as I've gotten older that's gotten worse too.

Maybe you could plan in things that you could munch on throughout the day? Things that are crunchy and might HELP with that constant hunger urge?

I totally get hungrier about a week before...yay me :dizzy: I can eat and eat, nothing quite satisfies and if it does i'm hungry 20 min. later! Sometimes i don't even realize what i'm doing or that i'm constantly hungry, but my fiance does! He tries to politely tell me that i'm eating everything because it's coming!

This happens to me, as well. I always crave chocolate, so that change isn't noticeable ;) but I am RAVENOUS the week before my period. Its terrible.

The week during my period I can eat and eat.. This past Saturday my boyfriend called me a garbage disposal (in a good/jokingly way) because I was eating everything in site. We were with my sister and the kids on our way to the cities (about 2.5 hours) and I was in the passanger seat, we had some snacks along and I was passing them out. When the kids were full they would give it back to me and I would finish it... all of it!! I was laughing at myself also, becuase thats just how I get when I am on my period!

I am the same way! I'm about to start next week, and I'm constantly looking for salty things to snack on! My favorite lately has been honey roasted peanuts, soo bad!! I just try to drink my water and find a better alternative, like carrots or low cal pretzels!

SuperMom 02-03-2010 03:22 PM

hmm.. i'm wondering if maybe this is part of my problem.

i was posting earlier in the introductions (yes, i'm a newbie!!! lol) about how lately i've felt so much more hungry than i have been. i'm supposed to start next week (mon. or tues.) and maybe that's part of why i've felt so hungry...

but then again, this hunger thing has been a problem for about two weeks now..so maybe not ALL of the problem, but could possibly be part of it.

I'm the same way with the salty foods!

I've easily been able to resist fast food since I started losing weight, but I smelled some french fries earlier today and I probably would have committed murder to get those fries, haha.

tandifrass 02-03-2010 07:31 PM

meeeee too! I think its really normal, but I almost can't control it! Its ridiculous!

mkendrick 02-03-2010 07:35 PM

Welllll, I am closer than a week, I'm starting to feel crampy, haha (sorry, that should go in the TMI thread, lol).

But good news, I fit into my first size 8 pair of jeans ever today. And that was with TOM bloating, right after lunch, AND I had to go to the bathroom, haha. They'll slip right on tomorrow morning!

tkm256 02-03-2010 08:24 PM

Congrats on the size 8!

The Sunday before the Friday that my period starts is the absolute worst! However, I don't feel bad about eating more than usual, because your body is also burning more than usual (just 100 calories more per day, but that's one more hunger-squashing banana). Plus, after it's over I'm suddenly much less hungry than average and can forego a couple of snacks in the following week.

I always get this way usually a week before my period. I usually want everything possibly bad for me. Such as, fries, chips, fried chicken and I also turn into a bottomless pit! I hate it because I never feel satisfied and end up wandering around the kitched for like half an hour.

Iconised Ghost 02-04-2010 01:09 AM

I actually get this way the 2 days after i get it ^_^'' Dunno why. I want salty, crunchy and sweet things. I mean, one thing that is all of those things. I recently saw some "salty and sweet" muesli bars and refuse to buy them- anything advertised as salty must have a ton of salt in it right? I dont need more water retention and I know i'll just eat them

MiZTaCCen 02-04-2010 02:31 AM

I think it's normal when it's that time all I want to do is eat and nothing can fill me up it's ridiculous! It's annoying too because it's not so easy to control (well for me it isn't).

katybug12 02-04-2010 03:24 AM

I always get sooo hungry on and right before my period. Totally normal!
