Default snack food junkie.

So does anyone else have the problem of eating a good amount of calories but having a quarter of them be crap? I find myself eating 100 cal snacks and skinny cows and gushers alot, although I stay within my calories, I know they have no nutritional value. How many empty foods are reasonable in a day?

I do that...or did that. Sometimes still do. It always leaves me thinking; I ate target with crap. Had I withheld or subbed carrots, I'd be way under. What has worked for me is just keeping crap out of the house. Out of sight, out of mind.

I know where you are coming from. You know if you will aim to get all your food groups in (which is necessary for your body to function at an optimal level) you will find you will reach that calorie threshold and not have room for that many not-so-nutritional snacks. If you don't you will find that your skin, hair and nails will suffer as well as your health!

I do this too! I eat way too much low calories stuff- just because it's not a "bad" food.

I can do this with coffee drinks. I have a mocha (250+ cals) and keep within my daily limit.
One day = fine
more days = tired, hungry, crabby.

Better to eat good food.
I understand your issue.

I agree with Thighs Be Gone...aim to get in all your food groups (the healthy ones!) and you'll find that you have to snack on healthy stuff. That's what I do. I try to get in lots of fruits and veggies and healthy grains and proteins...by the time I'm doing doing that, I'm not hungry for other stuff!

I love gushers too though...yummy

I do this too! It's worse on the weekends, but I've just started tallying up my calories throughout the day on the pad of paper that hangs on the fridge, makes me think before I eat something. Anywho, my main downfall is kettlecorn popcorn. I love that stuff, it's now always in the house! I have it pretty much every day, but I figure for 135 cals for the ENTIRE bag, it can't be THAT bad... right?

Glad to know there are others who feel the same as me... although I don't think trying to get all my food groups in will help, I think it will make me go over by way of I'll still have crazy junk cravings...I've been trying to cut it out in baby steps...
