Brit's 'Lose to Win' Corner ^Progress Journal*

  • I hope it's okay to make a thread for my progress! I didn't see a specific place for journals or anything so I thought I'd put it here.

I will post starting measurements and pictures later tonight.

Anyway, my name is Brittany I am 22 years old and have been overweight for the past 5 years or so. I've tried to lose weight before but I always end up quiting after a few days because I get discouraged and lazy. So far though I have been keeping to my diet/exercise plan since last Friday (12/11/09) by doing the Wii Fit for at least an hour a day. I also take my dogs on walks regularly. I am trying to get into doing the walks everyday but for now it's about every 3 days or so and we walk at least 1 mile a day. In the next few days I will be getting the 30 Day Shred dvd in the mail which I am super excited about! I can't wait to start that!!

I don't count calories or anything. I just try to eat in moderation and small meals. I have been eating more veggies/fruits rather than sweets and I have cut out soda/coffee and am only drinking water (and lots of it!).

I will keep this updated with my progress. I am hoping to meet new people on here that are similar in height/weight/goals so we can buddy up and support each other. This seems like an amazing group of people and I'm excited to share my weight loss journey with you all!
  • Hey Brittany! You're right, this is an amazing group of people.

Hats off for cutting out soda and coffee and upping your water intake. Both are very, very good moves. Might I make a few suggestions? When I first joined back in October, I wasn't planning on tracking calories, either. But after some suggestions, I decided a week or two of tracking to see how much I was really taking in wouldn't hurt me. You might think about it. Maybe not right now, but at some point... It can be a very enlightening experience.

My only other suggestion is that you rethink your mini goal of Onederland (199) by January 1st 2010. There are only about 2 weeks left until January and while you do see to be dropping weight rapidly right now, a lot of what you've lost is going to be water weight. Especially as you start drinking more water and, perhaps, consuming less sodium. I'd just hate for you to be disappointed if you don't lose 13 pounds in the next 16 days. The other thing that worries me about that goal is that to lose 13 pounds in 16 days comes out to about 1 lb a day... And that's dangerous to your health to consistently lose that much that fast. It can also be detrimental to your overall success. Many people who drop rapidly will often put the weight back on at some point in the future.
  • Those are actually some really good tips. I seriously didn't notice how soon Jan. 1st is going to be! 2 weeks? lol wow yes I will definitely have to think of a different mini goal

Ohh looking at your siggy...what is the VaVaVoom for V-day challenge? Sounds like fun!
  • You set a goal to lose by V-Day and weigh-in once a week. I do enjoy it. I'm doing several challenges and I like knowing that I've got to report in with other people every week. It keeps me honest and accountable.

You can actually click on it and it'll take you over to that thread in the Chicks Up for a Challenge forum. I've got 13 lbs left until Onederland, myself, and it's actually my goal for that challenge. At 1.5 lbs per week, I'll be able to hit it by then. So, fingers crossed. ^^
  • Hi Brittany!

It sounds like you have a thoughtful, reasonable plan in place. Good luck with it all
