Oh! I forgot to add those as well. Let me just be straightforward and honest here, I was very muchso a sensual/ sexual being PRIOR to depo, and EVEN being a newlywed (7 months)... and having been OFF of depo for 3 months... well, let's just say that I haven't been "interested" in sex of any kind for months at a time. What good is birth control if it takes away any and all desire for sexual activity in the first place?!

i was on it aswell.. its taken... 4 years for my body to get somewhat of a regular cycle again... :( I worry about infertility later on... Mood swings, border line bipolar on that stuff.. I didnt notice it until about 2-3 months in...

definite weight gain...sex drive dropped...etc.

Same here about going from a very sexual person to blah. At the bolded, that's exactly what I would be thinking! And the fact that I didn't need the birth control anyway since I bled like a injured horse for three months and definitely wasn't having sex during that. I think after I went off Depo, my interest didn't pick back up for about a year. It's been at least 6 or 7 years since my last experience with Depo, but (TMI coming) I still feel things aren't as "moist" as they were before Depo.

The skinniest I've ever been was 50 kgs, and that was while I was on Depo.

However my highest weight ever was also on Depo. I don't think Depo automagically puts weight on but I do think it makes it much easier to gain.

It kills my libido, is not as great for my skin as the pill, but gee getting no periods and knowing 100% I won't get pregnant almost makes the bad things worthwhile... I'm currently off it because my doctor won't prescribe it for longer than 2 years at a time because of the increased risk of osteoporosis...

I've been on Depo for about 9 years now and love it. I do admit the first several months I spotted heavily on a daily basis but thankfully that stopped. I've gained a ton of weight since going on it, BUT-I attribute that to moving out on my own for the first time and eating all the junk I wanted :K Sometimes I think I should stop it because of all the horror stories I've heard from other people, but I started it because my periods were so painful I couldn't stand it. Not having to suffer for the last 9 years has been wonderful.

I've tried Depo twice. First time was great, no problems. Second time, I gained 40 lbs in six months, still had extremely painful menstrual cramps despite no bleeding, had constant migraines, morning nausea, mood changes, all of my joints popped very loudly, and painfully throughout the day, and I went from being very sexually active - to STILL not being that interested (and DEFINITELY dealing with the dryness issue) even a year and a half later.

I'm using the Nuva Ring now (which isn't perfect either), but am seriously considering the Paragard IUD for a hormone-free alternative. I still can't believe that the AMA lets us put such dangerous stuff in our bodies; and that we pay so much for it.

i decided it isnt worth it for me.. even my dh he was saying it kinda scared him. We now dont use anything, also found out im allergic to condoms or something(burns)

Eskino, i had the joint popping things too! and my knees were super weak! :(

I'm allergic to latex as well, Lucid - and I have really bad reactions to synthetic estrogen usually so the pills are all out of the question. My doctor says the nuva ring and the Paragard IUD are my only options left for long-term birth control. Crappy :(

uh oh!

we decided just to not mess with mother nature..anymore, been together 6 years.. we're in our early- mid twenties. We've just realized "if it happens, it happens"
