Dear Mr. Softee, You are Killing Me!!!
 

About two weeks ago for the first time ever, I heard the infamous "doo doo dee doo doo doo doo dee doo doo doo" of the ice cream man. Living in a small town in the woods, we never had an ice cream man growing up, so I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard the truck. 14 days later, however, it's driving me freakin crazy. I'm unemployed so I'm doing work from home at the moment and I hear him for 4 hours a day...and all I think of is soft serve. I have yet to buy any from him, because I know once I do, it's all down hill. How do you fight your ice cream man urges? or even better, how do you get that damn song out of your head???

I'm more of a cookie girl than an ice cream girl, but I can tell you from many years of having Mr. Softee come by the house after school, the soft serve is NOT that great. Its mediocre at best, you'd do better just getting some frozen yogurt at the grocery store.

As for the song, there is no hope, my friend.

While I can't help you with the song in your head I can tell you that for me Yoplait Light Strawberry Shortcake put in the freezer for about 20 minutes before eating is delicious and really takes away and sweet cravings for ice cream that I might have. Plus it has calcium and potassium which are good for you. Hope that helps.

I keep fudgesicles in my freezer. They are a great fix to that craving. Yummy chocolaty and only like 40 cals a pop. Maybe indulging in something like that will satusfy that craving and make resisting the ice cream man easier.

or you could always just buy *one*.... I guess my cravings work differently than most people, but i find whenever i crave something, i obsess about it for a while, and the cave in is inevitable... but once i have that item in question, it is no where near as delicious as i thought it would be, thus ending that particular craving for sometime to come :)

Mmmm. I love dessert foods. But Mr. Softee was always a favorite. Best ice cream ever. I'm so glad ice cream men don't come around here too often.

Huntress....the yogurt thing sounds fabulous. I am going to try it. Thank you for the suggestion.

Frozen yogurt! taste great
