Cardio Pole dancing!!! The classes are an hour each and when you finish, you feel as though you just started. It is the most fun I have ever had working out! I have been doing it for 6 weeks now, and I have lost 12 pounds. I recommend these classes to anyone! I started them with no rhythm with other beginners and never once felt uncomfortable. I know they probably aren't available to everyone, but google it, and see if there are any dance studios near you. I do it in Atlanta, and my friend goes to one outside of Cincinnati now. So i know they are around )
That sounds so fun! Do you recommend any videos? There are no classes here, but I actually just bought a pole and want to pick the right videos for me- a TOTAL beginner. I have no strength and don't know what to do with the pole in my bedroom (its totally installed and I smile every time I see it, like a person with a crush. I just don't know how to walk up to it and say 'hi!')
Is it like the Flirty Girl Fitness videos? Lol, I can't take those seriously because I just end up laughing. There's FGF videos for free on ExerciseTV if anyone wants to try them out.
I have always wanted to try out pole dancing work out classes. They seem like so much fun and I'm stoked (i'm from CA, can you tell? lol) that someone is actually getting results and losing weight doing it!!! The ones I have checked out are VERY expensive. Where are you taking yours and may I ask how much they cost?
A friend of mine from highschool takes S factor classes in NYC (and yeah, they ARE expensive) and boy does she love it. She's really toned up/lost weight as well.

Same here, I can't take them serious either.
I laughed so hard
My classes are 150 for 16 weeks plus 2 dollars a class.. Which in my opinion isn't really bad at all. I'm not sure of any videos like the flirty girl fitness bc I have only done it in the studio. BUT if y'all find classes in your area that are reasonably priced DO IT DO IT DO IT!!! We typically burn about 700 calories an hour and it doesn't even feel like a work out )

Where I live we have 2 studios that offer these classes. I haven't doen them myself, but I did check out the pricing and types of classes offered. Both studios offered unlimited monthly passes, 10 & 20 class packages, and drop in fees. There was a discount for buying the monthly pass or packages. The package worked out to about $15 per class. I think that is pretty reasonable, considering that most places seem to be "boutique" like. I have a friend that takes a strength training class there and she swears by it. I would be curious to see how many calories pole dancing burns.
There is a studio near me that does the pole dancing classes... they have a cardio pole, and then three levels of more advanced classes for people wanting to learn more. I've looked into it, but have been afraid to look silly. I'm not all that coordinated... I should just try a few out and see how it goes.
Unfortunately, the closest offering for me is over an hour away ... which sort of renders it useless. But I wish there was a service that did that in my town, I'd love to take them!
The prices that you guys have cited are way cheaper than what I have seen in SoCal. I will look around to again to see if there are classes that are priced closer to what y'all say they should be. Thanks for the info!
Edit: I just checked out S Factor and classes are $40/class. Too expensive for me to even consider.

Reason: New info.
I second that Mickeypnd, I feel the same way as you do. I wish I was brave enough to do it at my current weight.
What I really want to try is burlesque dancing. I think it would be HOT! haha. That'll probably be held off until I make more moolah and lose more weight.
