I feel inspired...

I love reading on this site how so many people are succeeding. I feel so inspired and it made me think about the goals in my life, not just weight loss. Just the thought that my husband and I are RUNNING now is so crazy to think about. Anyone who has progress pictures or their story of getting to their goals makes me feel empowered. I would LOVE to hear any and all progress stories!

That's so awesome! And you are doing it together, which just makes it that much bettter. I started off walking at 187 pounds in April of 2008, and in four months I had dropped 40 pounds. I had slowly morphed from walking for an hour every day at the track to running four to six miles a day five times a week in four months. I just ran a little more every day instead of walking. I made sure I did some form of exercise every day though, whether it be rock climbing, softball, biking, swimming, rollerblading, heavy housework, walking or running. Just sweating. Wear good socks and great shoes! Runner's World has great reviews, online and in the mag.

You can see my progress pics under the goal photo section on this website or check out my blog. I haven't updated it in a little while and always hover within four pounds of my current weight.

So to wrap it up, I started at 187 and now weigh 134. The first 40 were pretty easy. The last 14 were harder. Took me some time to really strap down again with WW and just go for it. By the way, the day I started walking was the day I started WW. I would say the WW was equally as important. In the past I had tried dieting and would only do dieting or exercise, never both at the same time. So I was never successful.

Good luck to you and your husband on your journey of hitting the pavement or track or whatever!

I put lots of progress pics on my blog...I just updated with some outfits I got for grad school interviews :)

Forestroad! You look AMAZING! I love those outfits, and you look absolutely fantastic in them!

They reminded me that I should probably go shopping today to get some professional-ish looking clothes for law school orientation this week. Blah. Even though shopping is 10 times more fun than it used to be now that it's easy to find things that fit, I still despise it.

yesimhappilymarried - I am not at my goal yet, but I am getting darn close. Realistically, my goal in my head has shifted to 134, but I haven't changed my ticker or anything. But I started my "weight loss journey" on January 1st of this year, so it has been 7 months and 23 days, and I have lost 60.6 lbs (crazy!), meaning I average 1.82 lbs a week.

It's both been amazingly hard and surprisingly easy. Slowly, eating healthy becomes second nature, and pigging out on food becomes a rare, treasured and somewhat disgusting occurrence rather than a daily habit. And yet, the battles with appetite and desire still occur daily. Social-eating situations are always a trial.

I think it's really important to recognize when you start that you're going to lose some battles. You shouldn't let it happen, but you have to know it will happen and it will be okay, because you can still win the war.

Forestroad..I love your outfits!!! You are just gorgeous! I especially love the polka dot dress from an earlier blog of yours.

Yesimhappilymarried The weekend before Oct 1/07 I was at a friend's house and just decided to weigh myself...was a long time since the last time i weighed. Getting on the scale was the smartest thing I ever did. 230 freakin' pounds. I was shocked...dumbfounded...and felt beyond guilty ( we were having a girls night which included LOTs of junk). I went home thinking....I have to do something now..it's time to make a change...I don't want to let this weight get any further out of control. I wanted to feel healthier, more energized and better about myself in general. I was SICK of hiding behind this blob and feeling so lazy all the time..making excuses for the way I was.

Through lots of discipline/ exercise and following the WW points ( all on my own..no meetings) I've lost 90 lbs..give or take a few..lol. I have gained back 4 lbs but i'm ok with that...I don't expect to be a certain weight forever. I am just proud to be healthy, eating well and living life again.

Feel free to check out my blog which has some before/after pics!

RubyG and angelanicole- thank you! Ruby, you are proof that slow and steady wins the race...1.82lbs/wk doesn't seem like a lot but you have whizzed through the decades and look where you are now--amazing! Angela, I just looked at your post "Two Summers Ago" and you went from cute as a button to drop dead gorgeous. Congrats on your loss :) As for that polka-dot dress, I've since discovered that it looks much better with a bra, lol. I still haven't had an occasion to wear it in public...not sure what constitutes "appropriate".
